Newbie anxiety: the coughs

Just got a variable voltage vtube and mini-nova. Impressed with both flavor and vape amount. Ordered a zen universal atty and provari mini, waiting for them to arrive.

But I'm worried.

Im getting pretty serious coughs at night. I'm hucking clear loogies with my coughs. (It used to be crazy dark when I was trying to cut back on smoking analogs)

Im really hoping its because I just re-quitted analogs and its the cilica cleaning tar out of my lungs. I'm vaping juice I got from Apollo site. I don't know the content ratio.

i read that one person used to cough too and it stopped when he switched to wire and mesh atty. I hope that's it. If not I'm gonna have to try VG/Vc mix rate, find light favors, go through a study period. Now I'm doing the hold it in the mouth puffing.

Well, the good thing is I'm completely off analogs. I would hate to get off the e's, but I got snus.

There are tons of topic about coughing on this forum and its been very helpful.

Wish me luck and ill let you guys know if I find the reason for my coughs.

Yeah bud hopefully it's just your lungs clearing out the crap in there, but you never know. If it gets worse I'd talk to a doctor about it. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.

How long ago did you switch from cigarettes to an ecig?

I just looked up side effects on Google and found a Wikipedia chart of side effects from quitting. It says that the cough or nasal drip can last a few weeks.

I hope that helps... but still, seeing the doctor wouldn't hurt!

Side note: the same article says that cravings last 6-8 weeks. Ha! That was probably the worst of it for me when I quit cold turkey and lasted 3 years. I still had cravings 3 years later, even though they were infrequent.

Congrats on getting off the analogs!! It most likely is your lungs just clearing all the gunk out!! For me, I would cough every single time I tried to vape and it seemed to be a combination of things - my ratio was 70/30 and that was too much pg for me - in the beginning, I could only handle 50/50. I needed more practice actually vaping and not trying to smoke it - that helped. I also found out that the sweeter the juice, the more I coughed. When I switched to a 50/50 peppermint juice, I took one puff and never picked up an analog again - and never really coughed again. After almost 4 weeks, I can now vary my pg ratio and handle sweeter juices - it just took time, experience and experimenting!!

VG will cause phlegm with some people. Lower your VG %.

Congrats on quiting the analogs.

Hopefully, your cough is simply withdrawal symptoms, pg/vg, or perhaps a nic level deal. Regardless, as mentioned, you should have it checked out if it continues.

Many people experience cough when they quit smoking; like you said, your lungs are clearing layers of gunk... However, if the cough persists, consult a doctor. We are not qualified to diagnose or treat any medical conditions.

Most probably not a real medical condition but a side effect to vaping. I've been through this and still enjoy a good cough from time to time, reminds me on my smoking days! (JK)
In my case the high percentage of VG in my home-made liquids is the reason, but unfortunately if I go higher than 20% PG I end up with sore lips, sore throat so I have to stick with it as it is. Apparently the human body cannot process VG so it has to get out of the system somehow (as in coughing in out). PG doesn't have this issue but some people including me, have a tolerance problem with it.
Overall, still better than analogs...

Yes. It's the VG!!!! Damn that 100%vg. This is the second try and just like the first time, I ended up with a bad cough. So bad I had to call in sick. I know for sure this doesn't happen to everyone. Some users will live by 100% vg. But not me. I'm Good with 60/40 plus it wicks great and great throat hit.

Could be the VG or could be the cilia coming back to life. When I first began vaping one of the first things I did was make an appointment with my Dr. Just remember to drink lots of water.

Hey guys, so sorry for not posting back on this.

So basically the coughing got pretty bad to a point where I have a respiratory issue. Each vape I took, I started coughing. I got that really heavy cough, and when I breath I could hear the mucus gurgoling.

I read a lot of posts on this forum, thank goodness for this forum, and looked into VG/PG ration. I ordred a pure VG from amazon, and took a hit of that with a bit of water and ejuice. The coughing almost stopped. I just ordered all the VG/PG ratio available for a specifc flavor from ailen vapor and waiting for it to arrive.

I'm pretty sure it's the years of heavy smoking that's healing.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I'm laying off the vaping for a few days to let my lungs get better. Taking Snus for nic. I will post back if my lungs get better and I can start vaping again.

just read this part of the post.
very few people are sensitive to PG.
i happen to be one that is, so i only use 100% VG.
feels like a 500 lb weight on my chest if i vape PG, very hard to breathe.
could well be that's your issue.
when i switched to pure VG life got alot better.
at first i thought i was going to have to give up vaping before i even got started.
it takes a little time for your body to adjust.

THAT WAS ME EXACTLY!!!

When vaping, do you feel like (nose/lungs) you just stepped out of a warm, humid bathroom (like after a shower)???
I kinda had moments like that when I first started vaping non-stop. I think you and everyone is right, the lungs have to get used to the huge 180 they are experiencing. Imagine what the lungs are feeling. Analogs where oily, dry nano particles, then we start vaping warm, watery nano particles. The lungs are like ....... DUDE!!! But if your lungs are like mine, they will start to say, "wow! This ain't so bad, ...actually, this is pretty nifty!"
I still cough up clear to whitish/clear phlegm every now and then. But I'm SOOOOO much healthier after quiting.

I loved smoking. Sadly, if e-cigs where banned tomorrow, I'd be smoking analogs again ...maybe. Sure I'd smoke less, and use snus, but I have a feeling I'd be rolling cigs again. Thats why I've gotten political with this stuff, and do every survey that the forum throws at me.
