Hi,

I'm new here, I've stumbled across this site while investigating the e-cigs.

I've allergic rhynitis and the smoking has made it a lot worse over the years. On one hand I know I would feel better if I quit for good, but I've tried once before and my quit only lasted three months.

During my quit, I figured out that the hardest cigs to avoid were the ones I crave in my alone/relaxing/thinking time. Smoking for 19 year has created this hawful habit, and now I feel miserable if I cannot enjoy a cig when it's just me.

So I've started investigating ways to smoke, without killing myself and my breathing in the process and came accross the e-cig.

The question is, is it safe for someone with allergies like me? And will I notice the difference in my health.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give.

I would think that you could vape as there are no particulates in vapor as you find in combusted 'smoke'. Hopefully someone with similar challenges can weigh in here. If no one does, then I would recommend picking up a disposable e-cig from somewhere cheap, and trying it out before committing any serious money to vaping.

If you are able to handle vaping, then yes, you will see an improvement in your health (IMO).

Yes you will see noticeable change in your health. I let analogs go 1 year and 3 months ago and have been vaping a year. I personally can breathe better, have significantly less mucus build up, and my throat feels a lot better. I couldn't see ecigs having a negative impact on you unless you had some sort of allergy with propelyn glycol or vegetable glycerine.

Hi Pandora77 and welcome to ECF. I also have allergies and 16 months ago had a truckload of polyps removed from my sinuses. Had no taste or smell but after vaping 3+ months these senses are returning. Nasal passages are much clearer although I still use my sinus rinse daily. Be aware some people have allergic reactions to the PG or the VG but this is extremely rare. I had a reaction to Ethyl Maltol aka Cotton Candy, a sweetener that is used in some juices- cankers on the inner lips- stopped using it and they disappeared.
Good Luck, Vapoor.

just be mindful of how much you spend on a 'disposable'. just for comparison, you can get a nice KGO kit (KGO kits and parts) for well under $50 shipped (you'll need to buy juice too of course, start with 18mg nic content and adjust up/down as you see fit.

i'd suggest something like a 30ml bottle of something from mtnvapor.com since there you will also get a free dual coil echoE cartomizer to try out (good quality stuff) for $12 shipped. the kit above comes with two atomizers i believe, which is another way of vaping (cartomisers tend to be easier to deal with). i love their cinnayum, but sadly it will clog an atomizer/cartomiser faster than more clear/light colored juices.

anyway, a cheap disposable will probably run you $10 at a gas station/wallgreens, i wouldn't bother with any of the kits you'd get there though, they tend to start at $20 and go up, but tend to be not of the best quality. try a disposable to see if you like the concept (i'd recommend a manual/pushbutton, not an autodraw), and know that the better kits (like the KGO up there) will perform much better and the batteries will last way longer between charges (and lifespan).

Some people who are sensitive to allergens find that they react lightly to PG or VG. You might want to try some of both juices bases to see. PG is a humectant and tends to dry out the mouth, so keep yourself hydrated as you start to vape. Chances are that you have already been exposed to PG by smoking cigarettes. PG is added to cigarettes to keep the tobacco moist and enhance the smoke with humid mist.

PG makes a slightly more flavorful vape and VG is a little less flavorful (without more added flavorings) but gives you clouds of vapor. Some people like a mix of the two. 70pg/30vg is popular as well as half and half pg/vg. Tobacco flavors vary widely and you might want to order a tobacco sampler that contains half a dozen different tobacco flavored juices to see what you like.

Sweet flavors are also popular. Caramel, chocolate, and fruit flavors are nice. Some people like Cotton Candy and cake or pie flavors. The pallete is widely variable and so are people's tastes.

I'm re-committing myself to the e-cig revolution....tried several years ago when they were very new and ran into supply problems... hoping those are worked out. You are definitely going to see improvement in your health, breathing, nasal inflammation and irritation. And for someone who also smokes very heavily in the relaxation and alone time - this for me has been the absolute best alternative to break the habit so far. Good Luck

Congratulations and glad you have decided to give the ecigs another try. I think you will find that the supply problems have, for most vendors, been worked out. Welcome to ECF! :)
