Actually, after reading a little on it I might just wait until I get the reduced strength juices and order some 0mg of the same so I can mix with the stronger ones. Gonna buy a blue for today and maybe try very short vapes of my 24mg when that runs out, until I get the new stuff. I noticed my throat is raw today too.

That's the way to do it. Just dilute the higher strength stuff with the 0 nic. It makes the calculations very simple and you don't ruin the flavor.

You might also want higher VG content. PG is more irritating to the throat than VG, at least for me. I use 30%PG/70%VG and that's about as much PG as I can handle without getting a sore throat and irritated sinses.

Yes but I began vaping 36 mg for the first 3 months. I eventually intend to quit vaping completely by Sept. 2012 BUT if it doesn't happen I won't be bothered by it.

Just wondered since people were telling me I will prolly vape 25ml per week at most. But you have the low dose of 8mg there I guess makes u vape that bit more.

Any ego battery is great. When i first quit (about 4 months ago) I went and bought a little cheap throw away at my local smoke shop. I vaped on that for a couple of days and did some research online for something that actually feels like I'm smoking. After a couple hours online I found the EGO 650 mah. There is only one vapor shop here in Vegas so I headed down there and bought one, haven't touched another cancer stick since. I've moved on to higher voltages because vaping has become my new hobby and obsession. GET AN EGO, then see where you want to go from there.

Wow the juices I got were the reverse - 70PG30VG. And yeah one of the reasons for giving up regular cigs was chronic sinus issues that I was getting...didn't know vaping affected it at all : -/

On the dilution issues, could you recommend a formula or chart when using 0mg same flavor to dilute? I have seen one or two onine calculators but they are overly complicated and factor in water and PG etc. Like, if I halved the amounts that i load in, wouldn't I essentially be reducing 24mg to 12mg or am I oversimplifying it and missing other factors?

Some weeks I vape 30 and some weeks 40. It just depends how busy I am with things. This weekend I maybe vaped 5 ml for the entire w/e cuz I was very busy. I also have chronic sinus issues- polyps from allergies and nasal fracture X many times from when I was heavily involved in boxing and martial arts as a youngster. 25% taste and smell so I have to double my flavoring but it's all good.

If you add an equal amount of the stronger nic juice and an equal amount of the 0 nic juice you will half the nic level. Example:
30 ml X 28 mg juice
+
30 ml X 0 mg juice
= 60 ml 14 mg juice.

No, you got it right. If you put aside the VG/PG ratio for the moment, it's a straight calculation. If you mix 24mg and 0mg in equal proportion, you'll end up with 12mg. If you want 8mg, you mix 1 part 24mg to 2 parts 0 mg.

Of course, if your PG/VG ratio is different with your 0 and 24mg juices, that'll be affected too and the calculations can get a little more complex, but it's the same principle.

So i've filled two cartos now and so far so good. Found a flavor that I really love. It's a little something called "Menthol". Actually it's a creamy-menthol mix. All those bananna, chocolate and cake-mix flavors and I settle on that, lol. Still looking for a nice tobacco flavor. Tried like 3 and they're so-so. One in particular tastes like I am inhaling incense. But I am having fun with the ejuices and for sure gonna be sampling more. I find that some sound awesome and tropical but taste horrid, yet others sound boring and mundane but taste great. I am sticking to Darkcityvapor for now for my ordering needs.

Well, you know me, I have some more questions now that I am a bit further along with things if anyone could answer.

With my cartos, when I press the button I can hear a sound. It's not a gurgling or a popping but it's like a low sizzle. Is that normal or have I overfilled? I don't hear it like I do with the atomizer, I actually have to hold it to my ear to hear this sound but it is there with both cartos. Maybe this is completely normal idk.

Also, yesterday when I popped the cap off one carto a small white stick fell out. It looks like it goes in there in the center. I bagged it and the carto and used another one instead. Is this the work of satan or something else?

With my KGO when the battery needs charging will it simply not work anymore, or will the vapor become reduced etc.? The manual sux. I have yet to charge it since I got it on Sat. but I am not vaping as much due to the high nicotine level juices I am kinda vaping what I need then going away. The nicotine is still too strong for me but I am getting through it 'til my new stuff arrives.

Is my KGO a 510? I see these numbers (510, 306) everywhere as far as compatible accessories and parts go. Not 100% sure what mine is. I ask because for cartos I am unsure precisely what I need to buy. I am guessing these were the ones that I bought at reduced price with my kit Smok Tech XL 510 Single Coil Cartomizer - 5 Pack but it seems he is out of stock? Can someone point me to the alternatives...I know they were Boge but there are many types on there. And if my KGO is a 510, anything that says "510" will work for me, right?

Not as important but, does anyone know of a site where I can buy a blue KGO cone? Darkcity has red, but not blue. I might ask Bill actually, see if he can get me one. I need it to "label" my ecigs.

Congrats Swer.
One in particular tastes like I am inhaling incense.
Some juices need to be steeped. Place bottle in hot tap water fro 30- 45 mins. put in cupboard. Next a.m. remove cap and place back in cupboard. Next morning vape.

Should be a loud crackling sound. It's the juice vaporizing on the element/ coil.

Never heard of that one. It sounds like the airway tube and is a reject carto.

Yes also the button light will flash.
Is my KGO a 510?
Yes and that's the threading on the battery type. Anything 510 will work on it.

Here's a link for cartomizers:
Crystal Clear Vaping
Boge XL:

Or you could buy a pack of 15 here:

As for the Blue Cone I couldn't find any and the Hoosier site is acting funny.

You're always very welcome. Yes we have all come to enjoy the sweet sound of a freshly crackling carto.

Do you need to label the batts or the cartomizers?

Thanks Vapoor. :smokie:

Yes the sound is a crackling/hissing. It is not loud though but I have airconditioners running 24/7 in this 102 F heat so maybe they drown it out a bit. It doesn't sound alarming but I just wondered.

Thanks for the links!

The batteries with carto's attached. I currently have 2 cartos made up and have attached them to my 2 "cigs". Both are different flavors though and I thought a different colored cone would allow me to quickly tell which is what. For now I am simply leaving the cone off one. I vape 2 diff flavors per day depending how I feel.

Btw the steeping thing is good to know. I will defo. try that with the ones I don't like. Wyseller I think also suggested storing them for a month then coming back to an oftentimes different flavor entirely. It's nice to know these things. Even the 5ml bad flavors that have 24mg nic I will not throw out because I know they could possibly be my saving grace if I am ever out of ejuice and desperate.

I get an indelible marker and mark/ number the cartos BELOW where the cone would cover it up. I then write it down on a sheet. I also have a block of plastic laminate with drilled holes ( wood would do...does that sound right ) and I mark down the corresponding number. Note on the wood you'd have to clear coat with nail polish where the indelible mark would be so it could be erased with isopropyl alcohol. When going out you can also pre fill cartos, cap them up and store in a Tic Tacs container- fits perfectly.
Cheers.

I haven't read this whole thread, basically the first page, and last two pages. But I just want to say congrats!!! on getting off the stinkies!

If I'm visualizing this right, the "white stick" is something that you'll find in every carto cap (sometimes called a condom). I think it's in the larger one, and you probably haven't seen it yet because no others have fallen out. But check the caps of others and see if your white stick is them too.

I'm really new to this as well. On my first order, I got my Riva kit (kgo clone) and yes the kgo is a 510 connection. The kit I got came with 5 mega dual coil filler cartos, and I bought the 15 pk of boge cartos, plus 5 more mega dual coil cartos. Got my juice, started vaping......and very quickly realized that filler cartos are NOT for me. The first couple days were fine, then every hit was dry, scratchy, just awful, even though there was plenty of juice, and they were not burned. Took one apart to make sure. So, at this point I figured I needed to try clearos. Of course everyone had their own ideas of which ones were best. The thing that helped me most.......was going and watching videos. So if you haven't done that yet, I'd really recommend it. You'll see the ones that love a particular thing, and the ones that don't love it, and more importantly, what their issues were with it. What might be an issue to some, may not be a big deal to you. But just having the visual of the videos, seeing the actual items and how they worked was a huge help to me in deciding what I wanted to try first.

Also, I'm no battery expert, but I've been told that these kgo/ego/riva etc are Lithium-ion batteries. Everything I've seen about these say to not let them run all the way down. When I first got mine, I thought, well I'll charge it when it seems like it needs it, so I used the same one for 3 days. Then I decided to ask since everyone said they lasted a day usually. I was told to charge it every day regardless, and don't overcharge it. 3 hrs is plenty, so now I vape, turn the batt off before I go to bed. When I get up, I put that batt on the charger, and grab my other batt to vape with. I set an alarm so I remember to get the batt of the charger in 3 hrs. I make sure that batt is turned off, and set it aside to use the next day when I charge the other one. I'm hoping for both our sakes that if this is not a good way to do it, that someone with more knowledge will chime in. Like Sailorman! lol

Hi Debadoo thanks and yes I am so happy to be off analogs. So many improvements since I dumped 'em. I've even noticed a greatly improved benefit from whitening toothpaste that I have always used (I used smokers toothpaste before whitening was included in mainstream). But while I was smoking it didn't matter how much or what brand of whitening I used...I was still coating my teeth in tar throughout the day. If I brush 3 or even 4 times a day the effect is still largely nullified by the smoke. Anyway, I really see my teeth a lot whiter now. You almost don't realize the effect until it is gone.

Re: White stick of mystery. I am pretty sure it is not the little white plastic thing that is in the cap. My cartos do not have the ones that fall out in the caps. I know because I fill 'em with ejuice. Also the stick is not plastic or transparent.

The stick is around 1/3 the size of the carto it came out of - very small. It is not the filler material, but from what I can see it is a cyclindrical tube that borders the material. It looks however to be made of similiar-ish material. It is hollow and fits in the carto. I didn't even see it pop out until someone pointed it out to me. Woulda filled the carto without ever knowing. I thought maybe this was something I didn't know about or was sposed to remove. I can take a picture of it if need be.

Hey I see you're in Texas (btw how is the heat where you're at? 104 yesterday 100 here today). Where do you order from and do you have any retailers near you? There seems to be NOTHING ecig related in my neck of the woods so just wanting to compare notes.

As for videos, yeah I have watched quite a few, read quite a lot, badgered the nice people here with questions :) The lingo is still confusing sometimes but I am defo. getting used to it. I credit the people in this thread with breaking me in (if you could even call where i'm at now "broken in" lol).

As for the clearos link me the ones you use since your kit is a clone of mine. I am just gathering ideas and suggestions from this thread, eventually plan to try out new ones when I hit my stride.

From what I know of Lit-ion batts this is all true. I think most have a built-in safeguard against completely discharging, putting the device in a sleep-mode. It is not recommended to let it completely discharge though. Of course, they could act differently in PV devices idk.

Yes the Kgo do have a cutoff at 3.3 volts and the button light will flash when charging is required.
These are the new V2 Clearomizers with the longer wick with supposed crack resistant plastic. Pretty good price also:

I'm a bit .... with batteries and like to top them off as frequently as is convenient. Unlike with the old NiCads, it doesn't hurt them and may prolong their lives. By how much I'm not going to speculate and it may, or may not, be significant or noticeable.

With an unregulated battery, keeping them topped off will keep you vaping at higher voltage for longer. I recharge my 18650 sized batteries when they hit 3.7 or 3.8V. So most of the time, I'm vaping with 4V or more. With a regulated battery, it makes no difference.

It won't hurt your kGo/eGo batteries to let them discharge to cutoff. The cutoff voltage is set higher than the manufacturer's recommendation for minimum voltage. Most of them cut off at 3.3V and the lowest safe voltage is usually around 2.5-2.7V or thereabouts, so there's a safety factor built in.

Please be careful when using the clearos, they do not hold together as well as the metal cartos do, especially when removing them from the switch. You wrench it down a little hard, not paying attention when removing you may remove it from its base. Good for seeing what you are doing, bad for abuse. Crystal Clear Vaping has the 1.7 v versions, fairly inexpensive may be get a 5 pack until you are comfortable KGO should be the 3.7v if I am correct. Should work well.

They look cool but are they $4.95 each? If so, how long do they last, same as a cartomizer? Also do I need to worry about this line: "We recommend the standard resistance cartomizers for our Riva SE / KGO batteries due to the higher voltage output."
