Hi all, just getting started in vaping. So far my only experience has been disposables, went through a few the past 2 weeks and funny enough even without nicotine in them I'm smoking 1 pack a day instead of 1.5 packs a day. A friend handed me one a few weeks back and I had one drag on it and knew it would work for me to quit. I've been smoking since I was 12, I'm 41 now and have tried patches, gum, cold turkey, and inhalers. Nothing worked for me because nothing could replace that feeling in my throat when I inhale/exhale smoke. Until now. Being a Canadian I'm going to have to pair it up with some other source of nicotine, I'm thinking the new spray might be the best bet. Vape when habit strikes, combine with spray when addiction strikes is my plan. Eventually I want to be rid of nicotine altogether and also stop vaping 99% of the time. Like most smokers I can't ever picture myself with a beer or a coffee (tea actually, I hate coffee) and no smoke so I'll probably vape during those activities for years to come. I find this forum interesting and informative but I don't plan to customize a whole lot, I want something that looks and feels like a cigarette. I'm leaning towards Smokestik at this point for those reasons and because it's available locally. Knowing I can buy my own juice and refill them is also a plus, even if not recommended due to risking ruining the battery if the juice leaks into it. I'll probably pick up a starter kit this weekend and hopefully be smoke free by Monday.

No cig sized unit has enough power to be a decent all day everyday tool. We all kind of wanted to start with them and probably 99% of us moved on to a more powerful unit within days or weeks. If you have to have a cig sized, the Volt is the only one worth considering. A better place to start is with the eGo sized units. They range from 650 mah to 1100 mah and they work well. I still carry one every day to work. The eGo's come in 2 flavors, real ego's that run at 3.4 volts and the clones (Riva, KGO, etc.) that run at 3.7 volts. A good kit is available for about $40 from quite a few vendors...

The Volt line from Smokeless image offers some great options from stick style to slightly higher capacity batteries. They are a great place to start and avoid a lot of confusion.
You may certainly still outgrow what they offer, but shopping there will provide you a great starting point an low intimidation factor....

No, no, no. , don't get a smokestik,

Those things are ridiculously expensive. If you want a cig look-a-like, or as we say, "mini". Get a volt from smokeless image.

The volt is half the cost of the smokestik, lasts a lot longer, a better product, the cartomizers are cheaper, and refillable, and they have the best customer service in the business.

Smokestik charges $100 for 2 batteries, 3cartomizers,, a charger and carrying case. Then they charge $60 for 20 cartomizers.

You can get the same starter kit for the volt, with 5 cartomizers for $45. They sell their prefilled cartomizers for $9 for 5. You can refill their cartomizers for a long time. I have been using the same 5 cartos for a month and I haven't even cleaned them and they still work great.

They even have a 15% off code, sivolt50, so now you can get the kit for under $40.

Ask around, if you are going mini, the volt is the only way to go. All of the veterans who hate minis will tell you that.

Also,

The 78mm volt batteries last me about 3 hours of vaping time. You can upgrade later to the x2, which is the same as the kgo, to get 7-14hours without having to buy new cartomizers.

For $65 you can get the pro starter kit, which includes a personal charging case to charge your batteries on the go. The pcc will recharge your batteries about 4 times before needing to be recharged

I don't want to have to rely on shipping for my products, being able to buy locally outweighs the cost issue. Anyone who has used Canada Post even for shipping within the country would know why lol. If I could find a Volt locally I'd consider going with that. The only kit I've seen here is SmokeStik and 2 types of disposables. As for battery life, I have no problem buying and carrying a few spares. They sell a charger that runs on 2 AA's, heck, I can make one of those, I made one for my cellphone a few years ago when I did a month long bicycle trip.
