Newbie looking for help

A little back story for me. I have been smoking cigs for about 15 years now and would love to try and quit the tobacco. I enjoy smoking so I would like to start using e-cig instead. I am getting married soon and the future wife tolerates me smoking but I know she doesn't like it. I have tried the Blu cig and it didn't seem to give me the drag I need. I like a nice smooth long hit when I smoke a regualr cig.

I have been looking for about a week online and eveything seems so confusing. I see some starter kits online but I am confused because it seems like people that get them always go ahead and upgrade them. I would like to purchase something I know I will like and won't break on me or leak right away.

So I come here....it seems as if a lot of you guys on here are very helpful and knowledgable in this stuff. My budget is under $200

Are there any brick & mortar stores in your area? If so, go to one and spend $20 - $70 of that budget on something like an eGo starter kit. Hold on to the rest of that money for a few weeks while you read up on different aspects of vaping while vaping yourself. That additional $100 - $130 can go a long way in fun stuff after using a basic setup for a little while.

I started with eGo-C twists: Joyetech eGo-C twist battery Promotion They're cheap enough that I wouldn't be heartbroken if I lost one, and they work just as they should.

Well, for $200, you can get a lot. Me? I was on a tight budget but wanted a bang for my buck so i got myself the Innokin MVP kit for $50. Also i got a Vision Vivi Nova v fate tank for $13 and replacement heads for a little over $2 each. The Nova v fate is a glass tank, easy to refill and change heads, glass for my cinnamon and citrus juices that would ruin a polycarb tank. This setup kept me a happy vapor and is easy on the wallet. Win win for me.

Thank you for the quick response. There are a few vape stores opening up around me recently. I am sure they will have something I can use. I just don't want to walk in with $200 and get a bunch of junk I don't need just so they can have my buisness.

There are a lot of great choices out there, and a lot of different options. Many people love their first starter kit, but then want to try out the other options. (Also, many of us seem to be compulsive about acquiring vaping stuff!)

An even bigger variable than the battery/PV is the head options. Cartomizers, carto tanks, clearomizers (top-coil and bottom coil), dripping atty's, etc. You'll start with one or two types and then likely want to try the others.

Not to mention Liquids, liquids, liquids!

I could make a reccomendation (ITaste vv 3.0) but it would probably be much better if you picked out something (or a couple) that you were considering, and asked for feedback. There are a boatload of choices for $200, so perhaps starting smaller and leave yourself some room for an upgrade or more choices? Leave a decent chunk of your budget to try different e-liquids.

Broseph said it right. Get an ego twist or spinner starter kit. You will get a ton of replies soon on this thread of advice but those are basic setups that work very similar. Make sure your starter kit includes two Ecigs with a couple clearomizers and get some juice. A wall adapter is best with the USB chargers that come with them so get one or you have to always charge them on a comp, which is not ideal to your comp. you can google spinner Ecig starter kit or ego twist starter kit and see what the best prices are out there. They seem to change daily amongst the vendors running specials. Good luck and please post back on this thread later how you like it. Storefronts are great for helping you get started but keep in mind they usually charge more, so it's up to you as far as how much help you think you need. There are also a lot of good YouTube reviews that will also explain everything you need to know if you search for them. I'd also get maybe 18 mg nic and 24 mg nic to start until you decide what best satisfies you.

I second the EGO thing.....start with an EGO setup of some sort and a good tank like a vivi or evod. It will get you on the hang of things and let you know whether you are gonna like it or not. They are cheap and easy to use. Once you have realized that you enjoy it and you dont want tobacco anymore then you can venture into some other kits. But the EGO style twist sets are a good bang for the buck as a starter......by the way welcome and happy vaping soon!!!

I'm a newbie and ended up starting with a Kanger eVod setup, split it with a friend (2 tanks, 2 batteries, charger, 5 coils) 1 bottle of juice. That was just under three weeks ago. Last friday I picked up a Visions variable battery and 2 more bottles of juice. I like the change of flavor and mixing flavors. Next Friday I'll probably pick up another tank and juice. I quit smoking July 11th with the patch, but after the patch was done I still felt the need for something. Went with this setup and now I'm finishing off juice with 6 nic and only going with 0 nic this point further.

That is what i did. I bought the ego t starter kit long time ago when they just came out. The i slowly found myself wanting more and more. I think the problem with ego c and the ego t is that the replacement heads can be a bit dear. Averaging $4 a piece? My Vivi Nova heads cost just a little more than $2 and are easily rebuildable and rewickable. Not telling you to buy the Viv Nova as everyone has their own preferences but this was just something that i kept in mind when i got into vaping: cost. Depends on your financial situation and vaping preferences.

Keep in mind your starter kit will get you off cigs, which is the most important thing to concentrate on. And you want it easy to use and understand. Inevitably eventually you will upgrade probably but you can't start off with a complicated mod until you understand a simpler model. And some do fine staying with the simpler setups anyways.

Edit..also keep in mind most anything will satisfy you more than the Blu. Lol. And avoid a cig lookalike if at all possible. A couple brands are okay but most aren't and even still, the good ones only get you so far in satisfaction. And when you need to be satisfied enough to quit smoking, you usually need something with a stronger batt and throat hit and vapor, plus longevity in batt life.

The biggest thing for me when quitting was still getting the 'throat kick'. This requires a thicker juice, a higher voltage/wattage mod, a dual chamber carto, and a higher nicotine level. I did 18mg nicotine w/ a 50/50 juice. 75/25 is probably fine as it's more available but if you can get 50/50 I would suggest it. Then, you want to get a variable voltage mod (battery). Get an inexpensive ego twist or itaste vv 3.0. Grab a dual chamber carto. The B & M should show you how to fill the carto tank (prime it) and how to change the voltage on your mod. Ask them what ohm the carto is (it should be 1.5 or 2.5). If it's 1.5 then have them set the voltage for you at 4.1v if it's 2.5 have them set it at like 4.6 (maybe more it's been a while since I've looked at the charts). 1.5 ohm @ 4.1 volts should be fine but the 2.5 @ 4.6 you may want to step up. I suggest getting a 1.5 ohm to keep the lower volts.

Also, I used a marlboro flavored juice to help in my transition. Still use it, actually. Almost all B & M's have some sort of big brand analog flavor.

Get this setup (probably $40-$50 w/ juice) and then get on ECF and read around and especially go to the live chat. Real time Q & A is the way to go. Then you'll get pointed to youtube videos.

Don't worry about understanding everything up front out of the gate. Just get a starter set that someone on here has recommended (my recommendation is of course the best ) to try out and get off the analogs. Then get in the live chat and they will walk you through everything and answer all your questions. I'm in there regularly myself so feel free to hit me up.

It seems like a lot but it gets easy pretty quickly when you understand the fundamentals.

Back on topic. I started with a kit similar to this. (The one I started with is to old to carry anymore. LOL)

I would agree with the ego idea 2 batteries one to vape and one to charge. If you are ok with the size i would go with the bigger ego. I would try a kanger pro tank its easy and a glass tank replacement heads are cheap . Finding the right juice may be tough hit your brick and motar stores and sample what you can! Hopefully you aren't too confused considering the lingo. Ha! I don't even know what a dual chamber carto is that I read I this thread. And I've vaped over two years. Don't let the lingo scare you. Sometimes we forget how to explain it simpler. The thing you put on top of the ego batteries you may look at can vary a lot and everyone likes different. There are Protanks, Vivi Novas, evods, cartomizers, etc. everyone prefers different and the fun part of vaping is eventually once you get off cigs and start on one of them, you will enjoy trying the different options out there. We have a lot more choices nowadays in vaping so a good thing is when you hear of something that sounds good, look for it on YouTube and check it out. A lot of us have wAtched many Youtubes. Next important thing to keep in mind is finding an eliquid you really love can be a challenge so you will eventually want to try out different small samples from various vendors. Some love fruits or dessert flavors, or tobaccos, or teas, or coffees, etc. don't be surprised that what you thought you might love to Vape isn't good as a Vape, and you may prefer vaping a flavor you had no idea you would love. But yea, finding what type of juice you like is important and a bit of a search at first.

Another real good point of advice. Look in the main forum for an area in the community section, and then location specific section, and see if your state has a group in there that posts about Vape meets in your area. Most Vape meets meet up once a month and you will have more help from people in your area, and be able to try different mods and setups and flavors. They are a huge help and usually extremely willing to help out with whatever questions you may have.

Yea the lingo is very confusing at times. I am starting to understand some of it. I am going to the local vape store tomorrow and see what they have to offer. I will let you guys know what I find out!
