Hi all. I didn't intend to stop vaping; I got my teeth bleached and was told not to smoke for two weeks. I thought I was mentally prepared for it, but after about 14 hours without a cigarette, I thought I was going to physically harm everyone around me! Then I remembered that I had an e-cig somewhere in my closet (it was that god awful one from the mall; I think it was Smoking Everywhere). I had some juice Fed Ex'd, and I thought I might make it for another day. Then I found this forum; thank you everyone!!! I ordered a Joye 510-T and have been happily vaping ever since.

Anyway, we went out to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner . . . no big deal. And then I lost my mind. I had some scallops, oh my GOD, there were so good. Then we had some mini shrimp fajitas. Then we had some kind of Spinach/artichoke dip with pita bread. I was moaning and cooing so loud about how good everything was that we started getting a lot of strange looks from other tables. I never enjoyed California Pizza Kitchen so much in my life, and I've been there hundreds of times!!!

I want to thank the members of this forum for all the information I've used. Why didn't anyone tell me food tasted good?

Haha That's awesome-- thanks for sharing. How long have you been off analogs? I'm not 100% cig-free but down to 3-4 each day for last 3 days and my sense of taste is already returning. Today I was practically in a state of bliss eating cherry tomatoes fresh from the garden. I already know this is going to be a HUGE motivator for me. Just have to be careful not to go overboard. :)

I have been vaping almost two months with no analogs and I still have not noticed any major difference with taste. I am hoping that will change soon.

Congratulations for your breakthrough though :toast:

(After reading your story I keep thinking of that scene in "When Harry Met Sally". lol)

Same here.

Lol! Good story! I just sincerely hope that that doesn't happen to me. Firstly because I'm a big blond foreigner in the land of the rising sun and petit little manga girls, and I am stared at 24/7 anyway. More staring may finally make me crack and become violent. And secondly, there is the problem of my expanding waistline.....

While most everything tastes better now with no cig's, I will say two tastes have changed for me. Sunkist orange soda tastes horrible now, and I would drink it like there was no tomorrow, and now, I can't stand it. Beer is another, it tastes totally flat now. I have noticed wine coolers taste a lot more bitter too.

Yep. It's amazing how food tastes. I've seen that in the forum before. Hope it does not lead to gaining weight. That would suck. I'm in for only a week plus. Noticed i can smell things better. I do sneeze more but it's possible it's my old fall foe mountain cedar coming into bloom.

I have lost weight over the past year from not smoking. I am chalking that up to not drinking near as much soda as I used to. Most people had their cigs and coffee, I had cigs and my morning Pepsi, and another Pepsi and so on. In one day, I would drink close to 12, 20 oz Pepsi's a day. Now I don't even drink caffeine. I drink Sprite, and only 2, 20oz's a day.

i was reading something the other day. they said something i hadn't thought about, and that is that a vaper can vape for a month and pick up a cigarette and all say that taste disgusting; and a person that has quit smoking for a month and picks it up says omg i missed that taste.
i have already had that happen to me .....i lit a cigarette and took 2 puffs and snuffed it out. i said to my husband today ...just think of all those expensive dinners you've had at wonderful restaurants over the years; and imagine the tastes and the smells we've missed out on.
Vaping changed my life overnight and everyday there is something new that is a benefit!!!!!

I haven't entirely cut out analogs, but over the last 2 months I've gone from a pack a day to 2 cigarettes a day or 3 at most. The return of the sense of smell was the first thing I noticed, and the sense of taste is heavily dependent on that. The event where this really hit home was this past weekend when I got together with my producer and another friend of mine for drinks. Normally I can put away shot after shot of bourbon -- but this past weekend, I had to take it slow. Not because the stuff was any stronger than usual -- but because, for the first time, I could actually savor the flavor. 'twas glorious!

As of this morning it has been 55.23 days! I smoked about a pack and a half a day for about 10 years; in the last year I cut down to about 3/4 of a pack a day before I quit. The bleaching really helped, because the dentist told me they were gonna match the color of my bridge to my current teeth, and the bridge would probably last around 15 years. I did not want to go the next 15 years with teeth that color!! So I just couldn't smoke cigarettes! Vaping was so satisfying, and the price of smoking was so high, that I just didn't pick up a cig the first two weeks. Then I felt confident; after the initial days of the tobacco crap starting to leave my body, I thought I would hold out just a few more days. That turned into 55 days, and I don't think about cigarettes anymore. I love not stinking. I used to feel so guilty about throwing away all the butts. My breath doesn't reek anymore. I have an ex that I'm still warm about, and I am tempting him back with the promise of tasting like strawberries (we've always stayed friends).

I've been working out a little extra, and I am careful not to go overboard with the food. I enjoy delicous things, just small portions. I gained about 8 lbs at first, but I have worked myself back down to 127 lbs at 5'7". Don't hate!! I worked hard for it. I look and feel fabulous!

Thank you all for your encouragement and support. It can happen, everyone keep at it!!
