from what I have read so far, I think I want a KGO.. thoughts? I don't really understand the twisting thing and feel like I wouldn't really use it. I also don't care if its a bit larger, but I would like it to have longer battery life.
If you're interested in KGO, I got mine from Hoosier. It also comes with different colors. Mine is the 1st generation KGO at $37. The 2nd generation KGO now selling at $42: KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Ok, so I think I have now been convinced to get a twist. My question now is where should I buy it? I would rather spend 50-60 bucks for an initial cost since I'm just starting out..

I'm afraid you'll be hardpressed to get enough equipment for two people for your price point, going with the twists.
2 Batteries alone are gonna come out to close to 50.00 and you still need back-ups cartos/clearos and juice.

Two kits like these... eGo-C Stardust Starter Kit with Long Wicks & 10ml bottle of e-liquid. are still gonna come out to closer to 100.00 and no twists.

Just sayin':vapor:

Hi Morgan, welcome! I started with volt and moved up to kgos. Functionally, the kgos are great. Easy as can be. Girly wise, they come in a ton of colors, engravings, etc. BUT for me, after a few months, they still feel clunky to me. They are so much bigger than a cig. And at first the cigar feel felt sexy but now I just feel kinda gross. I am kind of a snot, I guess. So I decided to go back to the volt because it feels more feminine and sophisticated to me. The battery life is considerably lower and filling cartos is not as easy as clearos but as far as my priorities go, worth it. I don't know if you are as shallow as I am, but just in case, I thought I would try to spare you the crazy amount of money I have spent in the last few months trying to find the perfect setup. :)

so what is the volt exactly? The main reason I'm looking at the types of ecigs I'm considering is for the eliquid and ridiculous amount of flavors. The idea of smaller is appealing to me but I don't want to have to buy refill cartridges from the manufacturer of the device in limited flavors.

The volt is a cigarette sized e-cig sold by SmokelessImage. It's 808 threaded; but that's not very limiting since you're unlikely to put big tanks on such a small battery.

They come in a LOT of different colors and have cartomizers or clearomizers. Both of which can be refilled with liquids from any where. Or you can buy prefilled cartomizers (also from any one that carries them as long as they are 808).

I started with volts and they were great. You'll want several batteries though as you sacrifice battery life for the small size. You can even get a portable charging case that will allow you to charge them up when you're not near power.

Awesome.. that sounds like it would be perfect for the boyfriend cause he wants something a little more cigarette like. I actually purchased one for myself today.. I got an eGo-S kit from Vapure (super awesome store btw!). It came with 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, a charger cord, a wall adapter and a 10 ml bottle of e liquid. I also purchased 2 additional e liquid bottles, a drip tip, drip shield and mouth piece and a case. So far I am VERY happy.

If you go for the Volt (it is what we got for the wife and they have worked well for her), please be aware that neither of their Portable Charging Cases work with their manual batteries. Seems their manufacturer changed the thread count on the manual batteries recently and goofed it up for the PCC's. The auto batteries reportedly still work fine on the PCC's if you want to go auto (I think manuals will give you a better experience, though). If your BF works with a computer, you can just get an extra USB charger to take and leave at his office and he should not need a PCC...or just carry the little charger with him. If he's a road warrior, get the car USB adapter too and he can charge on the road.
In any case, you will definitely want 3 batteries...one to vape, one to charge, and one to have available when the one your vaping runs out of power and the one that's charging isn't done yet. The "Volt - Standard Starter Kit" + 1 extra battery + 1 additional USB charger is probably a good ticket. Oh yeah, go for the 78mm batteries, they will last a bit longer than the shorter ones.

Hi Morganlstar, wow, you got hit with alot of info.. Here is my 2 cents. I would go online to smokless image and get the volt starter for 20 dollars! so easy and very close to what we look for as a beginner and excellant price.. you will move on at your own pace.. also go to Joyetech site and they have a listing of stores in your area, if they sell Ego equipment, which is a top seller. anyway, yu will find your way , but that is my advice.. don't get anxious, you will learn.. and it is so FUN!
