Welp 1st 3 cu.ft. freezer died. Got 6 years out of it, was hoping for at least 10.
Probably went out a couple of days ago, a new one should be delivered in 3 days.
Not worried about the nic, have gone 10 days with no power after Irma. Nic was fine.
Crossing my fingers UPS doesn't beat it up too bad and it works.
    Darn Chinese junk...:-x

    Great idea!

Yeah... I know Many High End Freezers have Built In Wi-Fi Alarms. But they are probably more needed on the Lower Priced units.

Kinda a Drag to come out to your Garage and find out that the 100lbs of of Meat and Fish has now turn to Room Temp mush.

I was afraid a dedicated freezer would fail and I wouldn't even know about it. So I got a Costway 3.2 cu ft mini fridge. My nicotine collection is small enough to fit in the mini freezer.

I put my eliquid and DIY NET extracts in the fridge portion, that way I am keeping an eye on things by virtue of regular use. I also like that nicotine and food are not together for safety reasons. I will be getting a fridge/freezer lock at some point for good measure. Will also put a little laminated MSDS in as well in case I croak. That way no one's trying to drink anything or something stupid.

I just transferred nicotine over. So far so good. Looks like it keeps everything somewhere around -12 to -17 C.

Have you considered building a watchtower next to it?

Not a lot of room, but maybe I could convert a Roomba to do patrols around the freezer. With a "This Product Contains Nicotine" sticker. I'd have to make sure not to say what the Roomba is being used for before I purchase it or it would fall under the PACT act.

Do you guys see anything wrong with me adding 6% distilled water to my 250mg vg 500 ml bottle so I can effectively mix the nicotine before I pour it into smaller bottles. I add that much to my mixes anyway.
I already know it’s hard to mix the nic with the vg in the original bottle especially that size. Advice appreciated.

Nothing Wrong with adding H2O to VG Nicotine Base. I do it All the time.

I just Wouldn't do it before you put the Nicotine Base in the Freezer for Storage.

Has it made a difference in keeping your nic's color and freshness longer? Any downsides or things I should know? I'm new to DIY, about to buy a few gallons of 100 mg/ml nic from River Supply so I'm able to make my own juice well into the future. I already have a chest freezer where I plan to place the nic broken down into 120 ml amber glass bottles. I may put my pg and vg in there too. Given that I'm trying to make the nic last 10+ years, I'm a bit obsessed in finding the best approach keep the color and freshness hold up over time. I figure I only have one shot at this if thanks to PACT I have no opportunity to buy more later.

It's possible it will be ok, but I haven't read of anyone adding distilled water to their nicotine solution and storing in the freezer for long durations. All the tests I've seen involve PG and VG solution with no water.

In other words, I think you might be a pioneer in this sense. You would have to report on the results over the years.

My understanding of aqueous vegetable gylcerin is that it has a very low freezing point. So I imagine any potential negative interactions would not be from freezing but how nicotine might interact with water.
