¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it has to be good for something

Short term storage. That's about it as far as I'm concerned. And with something I inhale, I personally define short term as less than 3 months. I even transfer my flavors into glass if I buy enough that I know it's last more than 3 months. In fact, I just got done decanting some flavors today.

I bought 2 gals each of PG and VG back when places were increasing their prices and going out of stock due to pandemic. I let it sit in the fridge in the HDPE jugs they shipped in for a few months longer than I was comfortable with, but it's in mason jars now. It will take me awhile to go through that. But it's in the fridge, not the freezer. If I lose some of it, no biggie, since it's not likely to become a controlled substance and cost me very little.

Well if I am still around in 20 years, I guess we will learn whether nicotine stored in LDPE plastic bottles are ok for long term nicotine storage or not. As I ordered them in glass, paid for glass, and I got them in plastic anyway. They are stored at -10°F and are one year old and they are still super clear so far.

I'm still working through nic I got in 2014, all Nude Armor V1. IMO, it's indistinguishable from new. It's actually less expensive now than it was then, but it's still far from cheap. If I needed more, I would buy it again.

2014? That's good to know. I was getting nervous about my 2016 bottles. But I haven't noticed any signs of degradation.
I'm not sure who CNT is.

I've no doubt Chemnovatic makes good nic. The question with it is, how was it handled/stored before you got it.

CNT (from Switzerland) and Polish Chemnovatic are top notch, but you have to rebottle as they are shipped in plastic. I don't think that rebottling is such a big deal, but you are exposing your nic to light and oxygen in the process, albeit very briefly.

Does anyone know or have a guess how long nic retains its potency held in the plastic it comes in - in the freezer?
I had some 100mg base in PET plastic in the freezer for 2-1/2 years and it was OK. In fact, that's the nic this thread started with. I actually had four bottles of it, and I mixed with and vaped the other two. Note however that PET (#1 recycling symbol) is far less permeable to oxygen than the HDPE some vendors ship their nic in, so the type of plastic does matter.

Will it be OK for a while in the freezer, yes, probably. But get yourself some glass bottles and re-bottle it as soon as practical. Or if you can afford it, spend the money on Nude's Armor V1, which comes in glass to begin with.

If I'm not mistaken MyFreedomSmokes also ships in glass. At least that's what their picture shows on the product page.

I leave my 100mg liters in plastic and have zero complaints. They are in the white plastic bottles Nicotine River’s nicotine comes in. As others have said temp is the most important factor in keeping your nic fresh. Having said that potency and flavor were both perfectly as expected after 3-4 years in the freezer in the stock plastic bottles. Glass bottles are most likely a better choice but I’ve yet had anything negative come about due to the use of plastic bottles

The last time I ordered nic from them, I asked if the liters would ship in glass and they said yes but when I got them they were in plastic. I emailed them again and they sent me two one liter glass bottles.

Anybody have a freeze dryer? I was watching videos about freezing eggs and I got side tracked watching people using a freeze dryer. Man is that amazing! Store food for up to 25 years in a jar or a ziplock bag. Raw eggs, cooked eggs, raw meat, cooked meat, veggies, virtually anything.

Then I thought about how about nicotine? I don't think the freeze dryer works with anything but only something that has moisture. So nicotine diluted in PG or VG might not do anything. But hey, if someone has a freeze dryer, it is worth a shot to try a small sample like a few drops. If it does work, I wouldn't touch it. As it could be in a 100% nicotine state if the PG/VG disappears.

I ordered Boston Rounds glass bottles from Amazon years ago and transferred my 100mg nic liters into those immediately after they arrived. It's been almost 4 years in the freezer at 0 degrees F and it's all water clear.

All of my bottles are in individual ziplock bags in a box in an upright freezer and all are still clear and without any evidence of degradation. There's no off odor or taste when I pull out a bottle for mixing. All my nic base is 50pg/50vg. Get it broken down into glass and frozen immediately after it arrives and it should stay clear for a long time.

    Nicotine itself is a liquid, with melting point of −79 °C (−110 °F) and a boiling point of 247 °C (477 °F). So I don't think freeze-drying it is terribly practical. ;)

How would it matter if nicotine is an oily liquid with a boiling point of 247°C? As chicken and beef also contain oily liquids and they dry freeze just fine. With a shelf life of 25 years no less.
