Nic Test Kit Question

I bought the nic test kit from Wizard Labs. Followed the instructions. Reverse order I tested 2ml of the 48mg that I just received. It just started getting yellow and I calculated 46.24mg. Close enough as I could have added more acid to get more yellow and closer to 48. I tested 1ml of a 50/50 mix. It was 36mg pg cut in half with vg. Should be 18mg. It calculated 9.73mg, half of what I expected. I first tested some 4 year old flue cured from Wordup that was 36mg to see how much it dropped from age. It was originally a golden brown color and has darkened some, I assume from oxidation. It came out around 15mg.

Either my 18mg mix was not 36mg when I bought it (all gone now) or I get a bad reading from 1ml sample or ?

Surprised that the 4 year old dropped that much.

I'm surprised to that the mix dropped by half over 4 years. What I've seen is a drop of about 1.5mg a year. But it's hard to gauge if you don't have an original baseline to compare it to.

Meanwhile I repeated the test on the 18mg from my stock jar with 2ml test sample. This time I got 18.65 so I guess my first sample was off or using 2ml is a better test.

I of course wanted to test what I buy, to make sure I get what I pay for, and mistakes happen. I was also curious about the old stuff. I have another 4YO 36mg that seemed quite stout when I tried it a few months ago.

If your results are way off it's always a good idea to repeat the test. I generally don't test mixes just when I crack open a fresh bottle of NIC.
