i may be completely offbase but...
with my outlook setup at work, it is possible to read the email in the sidepane of outlook and then delete it.
it will send the receipt showing deleted and unread to the sender....even though you HAVE read it.
i do it to my boss all the time (which pisses him off to no end!)

not saying this is the case w/ your politician but it could be

yeah that way you'll have two pages for the paper when they delete that one too

lmao isn't that the truth. I live in NJ and I didn't even bother emailing them. The fact is they dont care. NJ is the most corrupt and screwed up state in the country.
