First ever coil came out to 3.8 ohms 0_o

It put off this black smoked that made me cough up a lung. Using igo l by the way. Am I supposed to burn the coils before adding juice and inhaling? My previous CLS tasted like asphalt on this thing lol
Bryan - if your IGO-L is new, did you wash it out before using it? I don't know if that's the cause or not, but I've seen some people say that you can get a nasty taste from the oils and stuff used in the fabrication process. I'm picking mine up today, so will be wrapping my first coil for it also - looking forward to trying it!

Thank you, very helpful, what is perkins paste?

Perkin's Paste is the way you order liquid without opening the flood gates to the whole WWW. When I do open it up, there are usually instructions on how to get the order processed properly. ;)

Bryan...if it is a new IGO-L did you wash the whole thing in a mild detergent, rinse well and dry? They come with some leftover machining oil residue on them.Thats sounds like what you are tasting, machine oil.I would tear it apart and clean and dry it thoroughly then rebuild.Maybe try to get your ohm reading down a little as well. When I wrap the coil directly on the wick(regular coil on silica wick)I pulse the button till I get the coil to glow red and work out any hot spots in the coil. The coil should glow evenly from one wrap to the next.Just take a tiny flathead screwdriver to space the coils out evenly to get rid of the hotspots.

I see Cactus already mentioned the washing and machine oil deal.

Clark..... flavor idea to throw at ya. Looked for it before and never found it but always sounded like it would make a great tasting vape. Boston baked bean candy. You familiar with it? Sweet, peanutty, bit of cinnamon. Think the same company ended up making red hots now that I think about it.

Since it's already in there - test it for us m8. I tried it in a carto for a couple weeks and it didn't burn it out "prematurely" - but it doesn't burn as clean as the rest of the product line due to the NET component. I don't think it will hurt it, but I am the slightest bit curious how long you can make that carto last with a NET in it.

I am *very* familiar with Boston Baked Beans - love em'. They used to be on my A list of candy as a kid. Been a long time since I had one - I *really* like this idea. Like, alot. I will see what I can do with the flavoring I have!~

I wonder how HHV gets their NET juices done. They burn cleaner than anything else I've ever used even at higher vg. Just something to look into possibly. I'll be trying your NET juices soon.

Off to my local e-cig store to buy my faves (Blackbeard's Surprise, yummy tobacco with clove and absinth and other flavors and Caribbean Absinth which is Pina Colada Absinth) and a ton (okay not really) more tanks so I can try my Virgin Vapor order with clean tanks (should be here soon) and I feel NT guilt!!! At least you know I can now not go without so very many of your blends. And you were closed and I was on a bender...I REPENT!!!!

Seriously though, gonna do some damage when you open

ill try cleaning it now, I got it from FT and used it right away. There was a stock coil built in that was reading all over the place so I made my own. The toughest part was getting the ends wrapped around the screws. I read the coil isn't supposed to touch the post so maybe that what some of the issue was

32 kanthal 2mm silica. Gonna watch some more vids. Thanks guys.

I had to clear out a section of kitchen cabinets for my 'vape central'. I would love a rack of some sort and was thinking of checking out those 'stair step' spice racks then try to sort juice. Still thinking.
So glad to find you guys again.
I felt like an orphan.
Hugs all around.
Pat

I've been looking on amazon and found some really interesting ideas for jooose holders. I will share a few here that I found so far.
Amazon.com: Appothecary Style CD Storage Cabinet: Electronics
Amazon.com: 18 Drawer Apothecary Spice Chest Solid Mahogany: Home & Kitchen
Amazon.com: Nail Polish Table Rack Display 60 Bottles: Beauty
Amazon.com: Nail Polish Wall Rack (Fit Up To 100 Bottles of Nail Polish) (Metal Frame, Unbreakable) (BLACK): Beauty

The last one is what I'm leaning towards for now. I could put it in a locked room at about eye level and keep it out of the dogs reach.

Mmm Boston baked beans that sounds yummy indeed.

Thanks for the phone call Clark :)

Ordered up and it is in there. Of all the places I have ordered from or any of the stores I have been in (probably over 100 businesses), no one has ever put the customers first the way you do while keeping a lineup of such quality product.

I'm going to send you that bleh liquid and a bottle of stoli for some inspiration, eventually. Lol been a little busy, which is good because that means more money to spend at nicoticket!

Oh yea, let me know how the hemp twine works out and where you got it. Like I was telling you a friend of mine tried it in a dripper and went right back to the cotton, hope it works better in the bccs, even if it doesn't wick as well might be a good option for my protanks in the summer heat. It is 114 today 65% humidity ;)

Torch or use a lighter to go over the wire before you wrap it and then after you wrap it. If you are using silicone wick, you want to go over it too to burn off the coating on it and any chemicals that may be applied to it. Don't torch or burn cotton wicks tho. There are some good videos on utube that help also. Gotalot has a great one on how to do a microcoil here: How to Build a Micro Coil - YouTube
one for a Genesis style: Wrapping A Coil For Genesis Style Atomizer! - YouTube
one for an IGO-L: Micro-coil on an IGO-L - YouTube
There's a bunch more on there too.

Yea I dont like the fasttech prebuilds. I got my Igo at a new kiosk that opened in the mall here. But my cobra rba I got from there, I had the same experience. Genesis 5 wraps on ss, tasted horrible no matter what I did. No matter how I squonked it. Rebuilt using an idea I saw on the forums kind of a ss with a cotton brain. Still needs squonking some times, or if I'm at my desk just drip a little on the coil, built it out to 1.7ish. Working better, but not my go to :p

Also make sure you don't have a hot spot on the coil and the air hole is lined up.
