When I started vaping, I knew that I wanted to try DIY. I bought nic base from Good Prophets (I have no idea where they get theirs from) in VG. After a couple of weeks all of my flavorings sit unused or in the trash bottle and unflavored has become my all day vape. Enough about me, on to the nic.
I wouldn't call the liquid colorless, but its close. In 3 different bottles, it appears to have a very slight warm tone (pinkish-yellow.) Of course this may be attributable to the lighting in the room or my eyes playing tricks. I would hesitate to say it is flavorless as well. I've been vaping this almost exclusively for a week now and still can't figure out how to describe it. Maybe a 'clean' flavor? That isn't right, but its somewhere in that vein. Then I think that maybe it's like Vodka; flavorless but still lets you know it's there taken straight up. Either way the effect is subtle but extremely pleasing to me.I'm still a little sketchy on what TH is supposed to be like, but I would say that this nicquid has very little of it (100% VG.) I nuked some to smell it warm. I wouldn't say it has a fishy smell, maybe socks? but I have to sniff hard to pick up on it. Cold it has only a slight smell that ,oddly enough, smells exactly like it tastes even though I can't describe it well. And thats what I think about that.

Lots of unflavored here too. I actually just mixed up the last bit of RTS I have with some PG to vape straight as well. Enough about me too then. :p

Anyway - nice info. My GP was a bit more colored than yours - it's easily a solid honey color. Also sounds like a little bit more odor. I haven't checked if it was on clearance still or not, but I got it when it was on sale months ago now. It was pretty much the same upon arrival, save for a little bit lighter color - still much darker though compared to all others I've seen. I got it in VG 36mg and vaped it straight and also cut to ~18mg. Could say that's because it's easy math, but honestly I usually eyeball 50/50 for straight, even if it's as far off as 28mg, I'll still enjoy it.

Love the comparison to Vodka. There is something about nic juice straight is akin in appeal/sensation to vodka for me also. That said though, the GV VG Nic I got was obviously pre-thinned. I haven't noted an alcohol note, but it's not completely out of the question that they used alcohol as a thinner (the other primary being distilled water which is what I'd go with). Also, if you are using high-PG, some note an alcohol-like taste/sensation from that vaped by itself (give it a try!).

Good for you admitting you vape something sock-like! LOL Seriously though, there is some sort of musty tone, that's still somehow not off-putting (for me anyway) about some nics. I get it both in RTS and in the GP stuff. GP also has a definite alkaline taste as well though to me (while RTS is almost entirely that musty element).

I've stopped using the GV nic in most mixes but I'll definitely go through it in some tobacco's and/or unflavored.

ETA: Forgot to comment on heating nic. I really don't advise people to warm their nic, aside from placing a finished mix in hot water. A little too much heat on your juice can net you a nasty little nic vapor cloud you do not want smacking you in the face/nose/eyes.

I agree about heating in the microwave. Some, if not all of the ingredients produce flammable vapors (except the water maybe). WOW, microwave parts could hurt !!!

I have now added some RTS Nic to my stash (Rocket has RTS Nic?). Didn't smell like no dirty socks to me, but maybe my dirty socks are more toxic than yours. Haven't mixed it down yet, but will.

I've also called it earthy - I'm not sure what it is, but it's not alkaline at all to me. Congrats on your win, and nice pics of the nic.

Wow. Point taken about the microwave. I never even thought about it, and this from a guy who won't even touch the outside of a 36mg bottle without gloves and his special mixing tray. I'm not so sure my bottle of GP nic is thinned. I store it in the freezer, but even after 30 min sitting out, it still takes forever to suck it up with a syringe. My VG for dilution (stored room temp) is about the same, but man, that PG sucks up as quick as you can pull the syringe. It's not chalky, but alkaline might be right on the money for the taste I'm getting.

I've found that a few hours is necessary for Nic juice from the freezer to warm, thin back to normal. I usually take it out, shahe the sheet out of it and let the bubbles clear. You could always make up something like my 'DR. Kavorky' to check thickness, and adjust your mixes to about the same every time. I don't know for a fact that nic vapors could cause a 'microwave mishap' and don't want to find out. Irradiated microwave parts embedded in your face are probably as bad as PV parts :)

Sounds like we just have different batches. My VG from them is a little thicker than my WL PG and probably 1/2 the thickness of the VZ VG I have. I'm certain this stuff anyway is thinned (but still, probably with water I'd guess).

Anyway - one other thing I wanted to mention is that the RTS smell I noted is mostly/strongest from the bottle. The smell/taste is not nearly as strong to me in the vape itself. GP though has primarily the alkaline taste in the vape itself while the bottle has some of both smells.

welcome gravity groove :)

hope you catch the DIY bug, vendor juice is bad news IMO in so many ways

I think I've caught the DIY bug. I’ve just got my shipment in from wizard labs and one stop DIY shop. I’m going to jump in the deep end later tonight. Thanks for all the great info and tips. I can’t wait to cut the strings from the juice vendors.

I'm so used to it I've cut my flavored batches down in a major way, the buds just end up re calibrating. The only vendor juices I've touched recently are gorilla juice and bobas, and I cut them both in half or less with aqueous VG and even then they're still almost too much

I was shocked as I was stuck in Florida when I bought it, and had run out of juice. Bruce was kind enough to let me run over and pick it up from his UPS box last minute. I vaped it as is for a few days and loved it.

When I got home I cut it in half, and I kid you not, noticed zero flavor drop off. Got some bobas thereafter, same story. Maybe I'm nuts!

Thanks for the translations r77. And Cyrus, you said you are normally a tobacco flavor user.. where would i get a flavor base similar to a few i like which are 555 (i like the nutty mild sweet of it) Desert gold/ship, and i've not tried many others i had liked yet. I don't like the big pepper of the black perique or the weird sort of taste like dr pepper i get off a black and mild type.

If i were to start i would just get a 100 ml of 36mg nic and a couple tobacco flavors, and maybe 1 or 2 easy flavors to work with like vanilla or caramel to make an ry4 type thing.

Thanks for the response.
