Got my 120ml sample of VT premium on Saturday. I haven't mixed unflavored to test yet but without question it's the most odorless nic I've ever bought. Hopefully it isn't "too smooth" lol. I like a little bite to it.
Many people here, myself included, prefer our nic in a PG base. You can do either. My opinion, I would stay away from odd pg/vg ratios in my base, rather adjust them myself as I like them. You are fine doing it however you like, of course, it's just a simpler calculation to use %100 of either. I don't see much point in buying 50/50 or some other ratio in my base. Maybe others have their reasons. Although, if you are getting the nic in a low enough concentration like 12 or 24mg, you could go that route and forgo adding extra pg/vg, but you aren't getting very much out of your money that way. 100mg/ml pg base seems to be the most popular, then just add vg to get to your desired ratio, flavors, and bada-bing.I am still confused about which nic base to purchase! I know I will be going with NN but I am uncertain as to what pg/vg nic base to get! When I finally try my hand at diy I want my juice to be at 50/50 as a finished product. So should I go pg, vg or a 50/50 or 70/30 base? I guess I'm just not getting this!
Should I go just pg in the base and flavor and add VG to hit a 50/50 finished product?
Don't forget to order some PG.You guys have been awesome! Decision made as I am going to go with the 100 mg pg and then I can add vg to offset pg in the flavoring!
Thanks for the help!
Once you find some decent recipes that you really enjoy, you may never buy juice again!![]()
I only order juice from two companies and I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to get juice from them forever!
But I might surprise myself and make some awesome juice in my own!
Pretty much this. VG "might" store better over the long term, but as long as it's sealed, iced, and dark, it should store pretty well regardless, and the PG is going to be thinner and easier to work with, especially if you're still using syringes to measure your ingredients instead of scales. Beyond that, there really isn't much difference. With 100mg/ml, you're going to be able to zero in on just about any PG/VG ratio you want unless you're going for a truly 100% mix of one or the other. I bought most of my nic in VG since I figure there's a chance I might conceivably want a 100% VG mix some day, but I find it unlikely I'll ever want to use 100% PG for any reason. The jury is out as to which stores better over the long term. Resident chemist Kurt has a compelling theory that VG may be better over long term. Considering my 3 year old nic in PG is basically identical to the purchase date, I'm not too concerned buying it in PG.
If there's any difference between nic with vg or pg, it's not enough to worry about. Main components that oxidize nic is heat, oxygen and light. That's what you need to be concerned with. I agree that one of the main reasons to order vg base is mixing high vg eliquids. It is thicker and harder to get an even distribution though.
A comment I saw from an Aussie DIYer was they ordered 1 of @ pg and vg nic bases finding they could make any ratio then. I thought that was smart if someone needs to mix a variety of levels.
Any 4th of July sales on nic yet?
