I received my first 2 liters of 100mg nic base this week. Prior to that my DIY experience consists of using unflavored or very lightly flavored store bought juice as a base for adding my own Lorann's flavorings.
When you read the precautions about handling 100mg/ml nic base it makes you want to forget about it. They talk about inhalation danger, skin absorption, contamination in the mixing area, and advise you to wear a fume hood, gloves, shop coat, and eye protection. I get that gloves are a good idea. I have boxes of nitrile gloves in my workshop for using stains and solvents in woodworking.
Everyone I've talked to in DIY forums says that they just wash it off when it contacts skin and they've experienced no harmful effects from inhaling air around the 100mg containers when mixing. Some say they sniff it to compare aroma from different brands! So, I guess the precautionary instructions are good for safety, but not something to be overly concerned as long as I'm careful when I mix it down to break up a liter of 100mg nic base. I'll just keep a fan running and pointed out the basement door just in case and buy some long nitrile gloves to cover my forearms.
Once I calculated how far my 2 liters would go in making 3mg juice I realized I had severely over-ordered. Now, I'm thinking that I'l just break one of my two liters of 100mg down into 4 liters of 25mg and keep the other intact. Is this a good idea or should I take some of it down to a strength where I just add flavorings?
I never realized how far a liter of 100mg nic can expand if you vape 3mg juice. At 10ml a day x 3mg that's 30mg of nic. Times 365 it's 10,950mg. If a liter has 100mg x 1000ml that's 100,000 / 10,950 = 9 years of juice. My two liters of 100mg nic base will last me 18 years. Is that right?
