@dansus: good luck to you. I admire people who tests new things (such as potatoes, vaccines, chemically improved nicotine and such) on themselves. Great service to the rest of us, unadventurous consumers.
All we need now, is for someone to replicate my tests. ;)

ps: Just watched a docu on potatoes. Those things were deadly!

This whole salting thing is getting more interesting as experiments progress. Although it is not my intent to vape at nic levels higher than 3mg it would be nice to remove any remaining harshness, throat hit or bitterness from my mixes.
I do see some advantages to vaping at higher nic levels eg 24-32mg; stealth vaping and cleaning my vehicle and house windows less frequently.:w00t:
Thing is, I love chunkn dense flavorful plumes of vapor without worrying about hurling over my porch rail.:)

    Yeah, I am curious myself.

One curiosity is that the Juul line is claiming 5% nic. That sounds pretty high for a mass market device. Now I vape 36mg/ml and have since the beginning, but most folks I know vape 18mg/ml or less. So I wonder if the "buzz" isnt just because the Juul is double or triple what we normally vape? Or..... could it be the efficiency of the Juul wick/coil is so low that it takes more nic to get a similar nic delivery to our high efficiency attys?

Apparently the Juul is a TC device, does anybody know what temp it controls at? Could a factor be that they produce a vape at lower temps than we normally use, thereby require a higher concentration?

Anyway, I am going to do some mixing today. I will mix three 25ml samples, all unflavored 50/50 pg/vg at 60mgl:
    1. Control sample: straight up 50/50 at 60mg
    2. Cold mix of 1% citric acid: I will make a mix at a ratio of 1g citric acid to 1ml pg, heat until dissolved, chill, and then use this to mix with the nic.
    3. Hot mix of 1% citric acid: I will make a 50/50 mix of 60mg and then dissolve 1% citric acid into it while heating to 130F
    Curious minds want to know........

BTW, I like a little throat hit so too smooth would be a bad thing for me.

Nvm, I buggered up the original calc

I was reading a patent today where they mixed 0.47g of CA, 0.2g of nic, and 9.33g of 30PG70VG together at 95C for an hour.

Similar to Vermont Vapors % of CA.

    60 mg/ml Unflavored Base (100 ml) (June, 2009)

    71.6 ml Glycerol USP
    17.9 ml distilled Water
    6 g l-Nicotine USP
    4.54 ml Citric Acid Solution

Combine glycerol, water and citric acid solution. Mix well. Chill to -5 C. Slowly add nicotine (stored at -5 C) while stirring until completely mixed.

Having bought one and used/played with it something like a year and a half ago, my reaction to it was: "Not much vapor" -- and I'm a tootle-puffer, generally 15-20 watts. I never did any electrical measurements, but we can deduce that it operates at very low power just based on the size of the device. It's barely bigger than a cig-a-like.
