You can go to the walmart first aid area and grab a cheap bottle of Glycerin. It is 100% VG and I use it to cut some of my mixes. A little can mellow a harsh flavor. Understand that VG will act as a thickener depending on what mix you have. I have not found local PG, but I also have not looked very hard either.

I have reduced from 24mg to 18mg in about 3 weeks after quitting 1.5 packs daily for over 30 years.
My batteries were lasting a week and I was vaping only occasionally. Now at 18mg, I am vaping more but not chain vaping all day long.
I figure if I can make it a couple days between charges, my nic level is suitable for my needs.
When my batteries start lasting 4-5 days, I will reduce the nic level again.
Only your needs can determine when it is time.

IMHO It really depends on how much analogs you smoke in a day. I smoked around 10 sticks a day and I started off with a 18mg juice. Felt a bit strong for me (as I vape A LOT, lol) but it was effective at stopping cravings. I tried 12mg once I was done with the 18mg bottle, still helped to stop cravings and it was the perfect level for me. In short though, you just have to try and see which level suits you and taper down once you're comfortable with what you're vaping.

I've been vaping for 6 months. I vape at 24 mg or 36 mg. Why would anyone want to turn down the nic?

I did it because:

It was pretty easy once I got over my addiction to smoking.
I know for sure I don't need it anymore (this gives me a surprising amount of satisfaction after smoking for 37 years).
I can happily go a whole day without vaping and enjoy a really great vape session in the evening.
If nic is banned I know I will not need to go back to smoking.
Because I could.

I will never look down at anyone who still uses nic or smokes, but being able to take nic or leave it is nice. YMMV.

I wish I could say the same about myself. Its the nic that really keeps me going (when I work). Don't think I'd be able to taper any further from 12mg nic.

Yup - they're right. Listen to them. Do it at your own pace.

Wow thanks everyone for the great response.

I will definitely listen to that. I guess what many are stressing is to go at your own rate rather than a set procedure. But in general, it sounds like going at a very small rate is better. Dont know what I was thinking switching mg in 2 weeks. Way too quick most likely

For me... it's all about the flavor and throat hit. If i could get the throat hit with less nic (which some eliquids i do), then great. PG, Voltage, Nic... all play a part in your throat hit.

Have you tried variable power mods? I've used one, set it to 6.5 watts (irregardless of whatever clearo I use) and its gives pretty consistent hits throughout the day (I'm a chain vaper). I do agree that voltage, PG/VG mix ratio and nic levels do play a big part.

You'll know when your ready. I knew I had to reduce it when it started getting harsh for me.

That sounds like a strong indication and good sign that I'll be on the look out for. The level i'm at it still seems perfectly fine so it may be a sign to keep at it for a while long.

Wishing everyone here good luck in whatever goal they have. I'm just a vape fan in general regardless.

To take it a step further, if you like, you can go to a health food store and get a large bottle of organic glycerin for about the same price. A pharmacist told me that it might be better than standard first aid stuff for inhalation. There is still a small bit of room for unnamed chemicals in the regular 99% VG. Yes, the VG is very thick!!! I have been told to cut it with a little distilled water before adding it to your flavor, checking as you go as to not make it too thin. I don't know if that is really necessary, not enough personal experience. Hope this helps!

Don't rush yourself - you'll notice when it's time to drop the dosage. ;)

I have started with 12 and 18 juices.
While 12 is fine for the most part I still needed that 18mg hit every now and then.
Found a solution for this yesterday: mixed a 15mg juice yesterday - and I get everything I want from the 18 from it - while still using 12 as the main juice.

Another thing you might notice as you smoke less and less is cigs tasting so bad you don't even want to smoke them. I will admit I still grab one every now and then and can't even finish one because they taste so effing bad. Like smoking a dirty diaper.

Right !......I'm used to using great tasting juices now, so in contrast tobacco tastes diabolical.

I've only been at this for about 3 weeks, so limited insights from my side, but I find one of the most rewarding experiences is the sense of accomplishment that comes with setting goals and keeping them. So, I haven't touched an analogue since I started vaping (@ 18 mg) almost three weeks ago. As of tomorrow I'm saving my first vape session till after lunch, as I find I don't really crave until then anyways and am only hitting it before because I enjoy the act of vaping so much. I'm going to try make that a regular thing, then slide down to 12 mg... The awesome thing about vaping is that it's such an enjoyable "hobby" in itself, (I don't think you could call smoking a hobby but vaping definitely is) and so I think I could get to a stage where I'm off nicotine but enjoying vaping as much or more than I "enjoyed" smoking.

That's my thinking at the moment anyways
