Uncle--welcome here as well. I only had 35 years of analogs at 1 1 1/2 PAD. Tomorrow will be month without them and I haven't really missed it. I can't help too much with menthol choices as all my juice has come from the same vendor; however the Vapor Room's EC Menthol tobacco is sort of my all day vape(and most of the other stuff is pretty good too).

Now start your search for your first mod. I got a Phidias and it's wonderful but there a choice or 12 for every preference and one of them will replce analogs for you forever.

Vape on.. :vapor:

Hi again nlgom.......I am so glad you decided to start your own home here at ecf.......I just wanted to let you know that I smoked for over 40 years, the last 2-3 extremely heavy.....they had taken over my every waking moment it seemed.....life was passing me by and my mind set was gearing towards whom would get what of my possessions, because I knew I would not be around much longer if I didn't do something.......I had been keeping an eye on the electronic cig industry for a while and they all seemed so expensive and out of reach financially at the time(about 3 -4 years ago)....so I bought those little filter tips that went on the end of analogs to remove the tar.....but those were beginning not to work as well because my body started to reject the smoke I was inhaling.......so, you name any 'stop smoking device,,,,I've tried it twice if not three times......they just plain don't work......period.....well, to make a long story even longer, I started out with the Blu cig and Safe smoke devices......they weren't too bad except my jaws hurt so bad from trying to suck something out of them that would satisify my cravings.....but determined, I started looking all over the internet for something that would work and I found ecf.......the best thing since sliced bread......yay!!!....So I started with the 510 xl and quickly moved up to Joye eGo, all models, then I went looking for something bigger and found the Buzz, provari, and a few box mods......but that is just me and what I needed to satisify my cravings......I know each of us is different and just wanted to let you know that there is a solution for everyone, the trick is finding what does it for you......Once I picked up my first ecig, I never touched another analog......it just kept getting better and better and still is after almost 11 months. I really didn't mean to write a novel here, but I wanted you to know that the ecig really really does work........I was and still am amazed....The only thing we really give up is all the chemicals and tar that is in the analog....everything else is the same....almost.....ecigs taste a whole lot better..but there is still the same hand to mouth action.....the blowing of 'smoke' well water vapor in ecigs. I don't feel like I have given up anything, in fact I have gained in all ways......well, I have probably bored you to tears by now. If you read this far, I thank you for 'listening' to what I wanted to say....and I am glad you found ecf...

I even tried a couple eCig’s and one in particular that a friend sent me – but it was horrible and no real menthol taste (to much like mint gum for me). And now that I have moved into a new residence that does not allow smoking in your own apartment (No - I didn’t know before I signed the lease) – I have got to STOP.
Hi Nlgom, glad you're here. I too, smoked menthols for 35+ years, LOVE to smoke (always have) and have looked for a similar flavor. I think I've found a very good one at V4L, (Vapor4Life) and they have quite a selection of them (although my fav has been out of stock for a while now). I would suggest that you tell us what brand cigarette you smoke, and maybe someone will come up with a flavor for you. I also like the coffee and espresso flavors (slightly sweetened), Green tea, Black tea and some fruity flavors I never thought I'd like. But menthol is a standby flavor for me and seems to help me when I'm craving analogs. I do still smoke, but I've cut it down to 2-3 a day now and am working on zero. First thing in the morning, I need an analog with my first cup of coffee, but after that I'm good until after dinner. Then I want one, and then one with my evening coffee (caffeine does not bother me, it relaxes me and makes me feel calm...go figure!)

You will find your sweet spot, and there's tons of help here if you just ask! :)

Hi, welcome to ECF. I don't think it's possible to find anything that will taste exactly like the menthols you are smoking. It's not possible because smoke and vapor are so different. Smoke has a vile, filthy taste and vapour has a clean, fresh taste. I'm very confident you can make the transition to vaping, and after some time you will agree that vaping is SO much cleaner and more enjoyable.

Welcome Nlgom, I can't help with the menthol juice, my brand was always camels, or ryo with bugler, but I picked up an ego tank kit. I've heard a lot of complaints about leaking etc. but have had no problems with the silicone caps, and only some minor leaks with the hard caps. I am careful to put the tanks with hard caps back on the atty oriented the same way the came off though. Over all, I for one have been happy with the tank, and love the battery life on the ego batts compared to the blu I had first.

All that said, I'm pretty new myself, but I'm sure you'll get lots of help, and plenty of advice if you ask. I've been online in one form or another since the late 80's and you won't find a nicer bunch of people on the internet.

Hi Uncle - glad you posted up your own thread. Cos this one is about you.

If i could be so bold as to offer you some advice. Now i know you said that you don't really want to quit. Well, in order to quit i think you're gonna have to change that. Don't be taking this on half-hearted Uncle. Get your G6 (i think thats what you said you wanted) and hold it for a long time. This is gonna be the biggest help to your quitting. As for flavour ppppffff i personally don't care what flavour i vape. I vape purely to not smoke. Just so happens that i find vaping enjoyable to. I had cravings for analogs in the first 3 or 4 weeks of quitting. I laughed at them because i knew that each one would pass and i would vape a few heavy vapes and it would be gone (this geuinely gave me the giggles).

So my only advice to you is - Make it easy on yourself by being quietly determined. And as jc okie says. If it gets "that" bad go somewhere and have a cigarette. I will warn you though that if you vape for about 5 or 6 days then try an analog you will be shocked to find that they taste nasty/terrible/horrible. Not sure how that works but you see if i'm not right.

Finally - as some have already said. Do keep us posted.

Since I've started off with an inexpensive KR808D-1 (and am trying for a full quit, at least temporarily, although I definitely think I'll be back to vaping at least maybe at 0 nic in the future), I don't have too much advice on flavors - but I just wanted to offer my support and let you know that I feel like the flavor should be out there. I'm a menthol smoker as well, and while I have always been a little flexible in my tastes, I have definitely had favorites throughout the years (especially after Camel changed the blend of their original Camel menthols!). Right off the bat, the Cig2O branded cartomizers taste very similar to a Marlboro Smooth to me. I smoked those and enjoyed those for a while, although the novelty wore off and I'm not overly fond of them. Have some cartomizers on the way from V4L (and I see they also offer eLiquids). Will be getting their Nuport flavor in soon, and can offer 2 points of view on it - DH smokes Newports regularly.

If it's been said, I apologise- got the gist of the thread, but should be working and didn't read the whole thing.

I'm just gonna say- I'm not a menthol smoker, but I've tried a few menthol vapes. Most are just like a weak, weedy, menthol mist.

FSUSA's NewPort, however, literally gagged me with strong minty smoky flavor, just like menthol cigs did when I smoked.
I don't know if this is a good thing- dont' understand how you could have ever smoked so many menthols in the first place.

But that's the one, to me, that is very similar.

(And gag inducing. I HATE menthol.)

Best,
ANde

From one newb to another, welcome to the group. I am sure that I am just reverberating what has already been said, but when you buy juices, it is normal to be somewhat panicky when picking out the first batches of juices during your "experimental" stages, trying to figure out what you like. But do not be afraid- like many of us, you may find some juices that you do not favor, but can keep as backup in emergencies (when you run low)... You will also find other juices that you may like, and eventually you may find that while you were once a seeker for menthol-similar flavors, you may begin to favor other kinds of juices. Even if the juices sound crazy, they can be pretty good, taste varies by person. In other words, Dr. Pepper flavored juice may taste different to you than it does to me, and the next person.

Good luck and don't be afraid to experiment.

Uncle, where are you? Just bumping this to get it back on the front page. The nieces and nephews are going crazy....thought you might want to look in on them. I see you've taken a new name. I like it.

Jan

Where do I start . . . Well at the beginning of course . . .

Oh MY – I’m still here, didn’t mean to make you concerned. . .

However, reality really hit me hard the other night . . .

First it was “lolady,” a “shaman” in her own right IMHO – who I now consider one of my life’s mentors & the wonderful woman of words, who shares her thoughts to enlighten us about the transitions and promising world of being “analog” free while sharing her words of wisdom and encouragement . . . How special I feel that she has allowed me into her special circle of friends . . . and while there is no hierarchy within her growing tribe of admirers, it seems I have really become accepted as “Uncle” by almost everyone there (BTW, that is the reason for the name change and to make it easier on everyone).

Then there was everyone’s input of encouragement and support to my entry to the world of “eCigs.” With all their advice and suggestions . . . I needed to take some time to digest everything and reevaluate why I am doing this, especially given the fact that while I really enjoy smoking (as so many other people do) – I really do need to give up “analogs” one way or another, and for many different reasons as I mentioned before.

So with that said, I am now planning in truth to work my way to being first “analog” free and then “nicotine” free within time. Hopefully, the transition will not be too difficult (although I know it will not be easy) or take too long. (The main problem that may arise, I cannot find the menthol “flavor” I need to meet my needs to accomplish this feat.) More importantly, even though I may not be here every day, I look forward to everyone’s input/advice, support, and encouragement along the way. (BTW, to everyone that has already voiced their personal story, advice, and words of encouragement – THANK YOU!!!)

Lastly, although “Uncle” was away over 24 hours, he is very happy to see over in “lolady” post that all the “yougun’s” are introducing their “loved” ones to each other and sharing their treats with each other, and what’s even more important they invited everyone else to join in – How sweet . . . It is nice to come back and see that you all were playing so well together all night long . . . However, next time will you all please keep it down just a little once in awhile – “Uncle” needs to hear himself think . . . AND when he's done getting it together he'll be in to join you for the "PAR-TY" . . .

I don't think anyone can be to "bold" to offer their wisdom and experince, especially given the subject and all the information that is out there. And as for going out to have an "anolog" every so often - particularly if i am having a "moment" I have all intentions too. However, I do have a plan invisioned that I hope will work for me . . . We'll see . . . And THANKS!!!

Welcome to ECF! Sounds like you're well on your way with good advice and a cozy thread to call your own (though I do hope you make lots of visits to Lolady's place).

Thanks for the input . . . And I personally have NO intention of ever leaving the "Indian Land" of "lolady" - even though you may not see or hear from me all the time - I just may be lurking in the background. BTW, absolutely loved her last Blog/Post! ! ! !

When's that G6 getting to you? I'm waiting to hear how that's gonna go. Have you ordered it yet? Have they agreed to do the trade you were talking about? Talk to us....

Jan

I don't know when the G6 is coming, although I hope it arrives soon. Jay Blazio (Director of Buisness Development) at Halo was GREAT, we have emailed each other and he has agreed to let me return the unused "Basic Starter" kit my friend purchased for me and exchange it with the New G6 (Talk about Customer Service). I sent it back to the company yesturday (priority mail) and they should recieve it by Saturday morning. I will let you know when it arrives . . . Hopefully, although I know it might be difficult to get exactly what I want, the Menthol flavor it comes with will meet my needs right from the start . . . We'll see . . .

Okay – the plan I have to move from “analogs” to “eCig”. . . and to slowly lower the dose of nicotine into my system like I did once before . . . so I can be free from “smoking” has become somewhat of a problem again - before my G6 arrives.

Given this, I need some assistance and advice here . . . Trying to keep a long story short . . . Previously, I was smoking Kool Regulars, then moved to Kool Super Longs, then onto Kool Light 100’s, to Kool Ultra-Light 100’s to Barkley Menthol Ultra-Light 100’s (my favorite), then back to Kool Ultra-Light 100’s (before the “FEDS” forced the tobacco company to eliminate them from the market), then back to Kool Light 100’s, and then finally because of the cost I am right now, smoking “Liggett” Select Menthol Silver 100’s. And although I dislike them intensely, especially given that they are so harsh, they are the closet “analog” with a menthol taste that I could find to my previous brand of cigarettes.

As far as I know, right now I am getting the New “G6” from Halo that are coming with preassembled menthol “carts” that I will be trying soon – right now, knowing me, I need to make this a lot easier to begin with and if I have to go through the testing, measuring, and filling “carts” phase – I might just lose it and give up before I even start.

Now . . . My questions are this, especially for any of you that have been at this for a long time and might possibly know:

1) I have looked on the Internet and called the “Liggett” Company directly to find out what the level of nicotine is in their Select Menthol Silver (aka: Light) 100 “analogs” . . . However, I could not find the information on the Internet and the “Liggett” company representative I spoke with refuse to let me know the level of Nicotine in their product – stating the it is against the law for them to tell me, have it listed on their website, or print it on their packaging . . . S0 by any chance, does anyone know or can you help me find out what the nicotine level is for this brand or “Kool’s Ultra-Light 100’s” so I can make sure I get the “right” level of nicotine to begin with? (BTW, just in case, I already have Nicotine Patches – 21, 14, & 7 mg – to assist me over the rough spots too if needed).

2) As I have asked most of the “eCig” companies out there what kind of menthol they have . . . and some people have already suggested here . . . I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to a “Menthol” that taste like a “True Menthol” (not like “Peppermint/Spearmint” gum like in a Newport/Salem/Marlboro Menthol) and that was available in either Kool or Barkley Menthol “analogs.” I particularly do not want anything to harsh nor to sweet, all I want is a “menthol” flavor that taste like “Menthol” (that almost has a eucalyptus quality to it – I think.)

Thank you, for taking the time to answer my questions . . .
