Great to hear from you Uncle.

Those "analogs" sure do have a way to nag at us.

Another story -- I didn't really want to quit either -- but _______________(fill in the blanks), I decided to give E Cigs a real try---to cut down my smoking. After my morning smoke, during the day I grabbed the e cig first. ICK. Did it anyway. I'd "smoke" a whole cartridge and give myself an analog or two for a pallet cleaner!

My smoking reduced dramatically & amazingly easily --- so then I concentrated on cutting back & continuing that trend as I then decided it would be a good idea to actually stop the analogs.........and amazingly did within a month of starting vaping.

I, too, could write several paragraphs as the adventure continued....(various PV's, tons of flavors, battery paranoia etc.)

But, I'll skip most of that for now and just say that I was shocked and amazed at how rapidly the body felt better and that became the real inspiration. (& yes, there was some withdrawal to my surprise) The analog nag did continue for quite awhile but did slowly subside with it currently only being an occasional twitch.

Oh, I've got plenty of packs around and I know that I NOW could "try" one without worry of switching back. I also actually like hanging around with smokers.

Well -- I hope I haven't done too much of this:

Enjoy your adventure---and keep us posted!

This link might help -- I went to the first link in that post & it has Kool's listed.

Also, have you learned how to Google Search ECF? It's the upper white box on the top right. Really helpful & there has been lots of talk about "real" menthol to be had on this forum. You can even get menthol crystals to add to the liquid---but I know zero about how it all works.

"tearose" - Thank you so much for your story and the link to the information . . . I have tried to "Goole" here on ECF however, nothing came up at the time - probably me and my wording . . . However, all excuses aside, I was able to see that it seems Kool Light 100's have .7 - .8 mg of Nicotine per "analog" and at 2 1/2 to 3 PAD - lets see that would mean . . . I'm not really a math person . . . WOW ! ! ! My head is about to explode . . . TMI for me, but I'll figure this out somehow . . .

Again, Thank you . . .

Um, you're approaching this at an obtuse angle.

The type and quantity of cigs you smoked do not have an absolute bearing on the nicotine level you'll need from a PV. Some with your habit get along great at 12mg while some need 36mg and some even more and some less. The only way to find it is to do it. Try different levels (and flavors) to find what "works". Sometime, like me, need different levels at different times of the day. Found out by doing.

I know there is a whole world of information hidden behind jargon, but it does get easier AFTER You have a PV in your hands. Just ask LOL if you don't believe me.

(oK. I'll go back to lurking now...)

Hoosier, I value your posts and your experience, so don't lurk ALL the time okay?...

And Uncle, Hoosier is right. I smoked 1 to 1 1/2 PAD Marlboro Menthol 100's and thought I HAD to have menthol, and a High Nic level. I was so wrong...I did finally find a menthol I like a lot, but due to it being out of stock a lot at the vendor, I have been forced to use my other flavors more...that actually don't have ANY tobacco flavors in them, and I am finding that I am not really missing my menthol as much as I thought! And I started out with 18 mg nic in my e-juice, but it made me dizzy and a little sick feeling so I've reduced slowly and am now between 8 mg and 11 mg. It seems just fine...and I use only zero nic after 9 PM so I can sleep. The higher nic levels amp me up a bit. (But my 10 PM cup of coffee just relaxes me...go figure)

I think you'll surprise yourself, in that what you imagine will be a perfect vape for you now is not at all what you expect it to be. I never thought I'd like any of the "fruit" flavors, but wow! I love Blueberry-anything flavored juice! (my fav now is Blueberry Champagne!) And my all day vape is green tea or black tea. Now I do love a good cup of sweet tea, but never expected it to be my fav flavor in juice. And I love any of the coffee flavors, unless they have cream in them (yes, I tried coffee and cream) but found that I just like them sweetened. So, don't get too set on one way of doing it and please DO get additional flavors besides Menthol. You may be disappointed enough in the menthol flavors that you get discouraged, if you don't have a chance to sample other flavors.

And then, PG and VG levels also can play a big part in how well you tolerate vaping in general...but I think I'm getting too far ahead of you there. Suffice it to say, you will need to experiment, and keep an open mind. What you think you might like, may not be anything close to what you end up liking a lot.

Hey there “Hoosier” & “Wolfstar” . . .

I hear you both loud and clear . . .

Now don’t get me wrong, especially with my request for information about the “Nicotine levels” & “Menthol Taste,” after reading a lot of people’s stories and “hearing” the advice many people have already given me, as you both have – MY expectations are not unrealistic . . . nor are my eyes closed to the fact that this is not going to easy at all. That is just one of the reasons I had to reevaluate the, what and why I was doing all this and transitioning to an “eCig.” All I wanted was a base level to begin with, especially since I know it is going to take me sometime to adapt to this and find not only the “right” level of nicotine for me, but what actual “flavor” I can find to enjoy as you and others have suggested. And although, I do not expect to get it right at the beginning, all I can do is “hope” that I can, especially to make the transition just a little easier with what I learn from others here and given the questions I’ve asked. We’ll see . . .

I found the transition easy. I stopped smoking when i ran out of tobacco one monday lunchtime. And started vaping on my little "health e cig". Nailed it straight away. The cravings for an anaolg did come but they weren't all that strong nor did they last all that long. I think one of the things that helped me though was the fact that i so badly wanted to quit smoking.

All my life i've been like a non-smoker trapped inside a smokers body. I've always been a fit and strong man. To feel that strength ebbing away prematurely. To be soooo out of breath just running a little way. To be sooo dependant on something that i knew was doing me harm all seemed to pull me down even further. It all had the effect of making me smoke even heavier.

I was asked once "what cigarettes do you enjoy the most ?". I answered quickly and without to much thought :

1, After a meal
2, With a beer (or two)
3, After intamacy <----- sorry i didn't know how to put that better.

My friend, that had asked me this question, replied "but those are times when you would feel good anyway." All three of my favourite cigarettes were at times when i was satisfied or relaxed anyway. This was quite a help to me.

If smoking did one good thing for me then i would maybe miss it. Truth is it only does harm. The disadvantages of smoking make a list thats very long. The advantages make an empty page.
If i miss the taste, so much, i suppose i could always find some other way of messing my taste buds up enough so that everything tasted of nothing.
I like myself a little more for not smoking. And i have hope for everyone that they'll be free, like i feel, one day soon. Thats why i'm always encouraging the newbie posters.

You smoked a pack a day or more, so you PROBABLY need 18mg or 24mg nicotine juice.

VaporBomb Arctic Ice is a true menthol (former Kool smoker) Not candy flavored (Salem) menthol.

Thank you – SO MUCH . . . with all the information and options out there, that included so many suggestions of what I should try – I was starting to get so frustrated and confused again as to what I could/should do that I was starting to get quite “anxious” once more (OH MY – I haven’t even started using an “eCig” – Now that’s really messed-up) . . . However, now with this information, especially from an ex “Kool” smoker (who would/should know what a was looking for and was use to in an actual “Menthol” flavor) – at least I now know there is at least one menthol flavor out there for me to use . . . It was one of my biggest “fears” (I know – I know . . .You’re probably saying, “What is there to be afraid of?” Well, although it is not “change” because I do that all the time, it is another long and boring story in itself that should be left another day) . . . And while I know the taste of the “VapoeBomb Artic” you have suggested might be different for me – I know myself well enough, that for me to get through the transition to an “eCig” and off analogs for good – I needed to know that I could find “something” that would replace (or at least be as close to) the “taste” of the “analogs” I’m now using . . . Now, while I await my new “G6” with their “Menthol” carts to arrive . . . And if I find that the flavor of one of their Menthols is not right for me, I now know what else I can try . . . SO, once again – Thank you for the information, it gives me a very clear and straight forward “baseline” to begin my “travels” into the vast world of “Vaping” . . . and hopefully, becoming a none smoker like so many others have . . .

Oh, BTW, thank you also for the nicotine “baseline” . . . I will probably start with the either at an 18mg/16mg nicotine level and if I find that I need more nicotine I'll get the higher level . . . This information was very helpful to me.

Del Boy . . . You make some very good points and reasons for giving up smoking, especially as you said you wanted to quit smoking “analogs” and the reason why it was easier for you . . . Thanks for bring them up . . .

I'm happy it helped. You should also try Fire n Ice from VaporBomb. :)

Uncle, I know your head is just spinning right now.....but you're going to be amazed. You ARE going to be able to do this....and it's going to be easier than you think. You just don't know that for sure yet.

Del Boy....I was like you....a smoker in a non-smoker's body. I never wanted to be a smoker, and most of the time I was a "closet" smoker in the sense that there were LOTS of people I never smoked around, although OF COURSE they knew I smoked because of the way I (now know) STANK to high heaven all the time. But I didn't WANT to be a smoker....ever. But for over 40 years I did it anyway. But....now it's been ONE YEAR on the 30th of June (yay me!) and I'm so proud of myself!
