Current panicking about FDA etc resulting in mass stocking looks like a deja vue to us. We have had this 2 years ago in The Netherlands. The Dutch government lifted the ban after week and imposed new regulations, clear as water.

Those suppliers spreading rumors and creating panic on this forum to take advantage by driving people to stocking should be ashamed!

Ludo, this post made me smile :D

I have been thinking that every time a supplier shouts "buy all you can, its time to spend $1,000 to stock up for the nuclear winter"

I do think that there are real risks in several countries, but its also a good time to shift a lot of stock. You should see what happens in the UK every time their might be a fuel strike.

Nice post!

However, US regulators have NEVER reversed their rulings within a week. This would be a first. If history is any judge, there will be a lot of talking and posturing before anything truly happens (like samonella in the peanut supply for example).

But you do make a point that panic buying doesn't solve the problem. Stashes will eventually run out. Then what?

With all the manafacturers and suppliers out there and the internet, while a ban will make things a lot harder, they will not be impossible.

People should take the energy used in finding and securing their personal stashes and stay informed. Also, this energy would be better used to lobby their represenatives in government.

Stay informed and keep a level head everyone. Then fight!

So you are suggesting we're looking at more of a brief stop in supply while products are relabeled to meet federal guidelines? That seems highly optimistic based on the staunch rhetoric that has been thrown out by the FDA. Has anyone at Janty been contacted by or made contact with anyone at the FDA to have a way of knowing which way this will end up?

I don't know Ludo, maybe your officials aren't as corrupt and deaf to their constituants requests as ours are. As long as they get their payoff, they don't care what we want, is fair, is good or bad. Just as long as they get theirs, the payor can have anything they want. Look at the past 8 years in this country and how the administrations friends and financial supporters have gotten everything they want.

If the FDA (read this as owned and operated by the drug companies) is told to nix them - they will. Big tobacco has a bunch to lose and big pocketbooks also. You know "The Selling of America" etc.etc.
