nOOb...need help with selecting the right kit

Glad to have run into this sight, all by chance thanks to the Yahoo article on E-Cigs! I have smoked for years and was tired of the associated health problems that come with the joy of smoking. I quit the real thing a while back by picking up an e-cig at the gas station when they didn't have my brand. Now, I know this was to get me by and away from the Marlboros and it has worked to this point. However, now I'm looking to move into something a little more permanent.

While there is a wealth of knowledge on these forums, I have tried to find a thread that helps those of us find a good starting juicer. I have seen some recommendations but am still lost in the sea of info in the forums. (Admins - remember, nOOb here, please dont be harsh!)

So, I have been using the logic brand platinum power series. I have found that the batteries don't last very long and they don't give off a lot of vapor. I like the menthol flavor but the regular tobacco sucks!!

My questions are these, where should I start? What products should I pay attention too? What are your recommendations? Anyone switched from Logic and had a product that worked for them out of the gate?

Thanks in advance!

Im a noob. 4 days on the Halo Triton. Its an all inclusive kit. Fill it an go. So easy. Quality is superb. Good vapor and taste. Size is just right. 400mAh is the height of my iPhone 5 and width of my thumb. Easy to carry/conceal. battery lasts me into the next day. Good start for me.

I hear a lot about the Joytech eGo twist and the Protank. It probably would be a home setup though. looks too big to carry to a bar or dinner. If i dont relapse back to analogs after two months, I'll invest in it.

I'm a new to vaping as well and went through the whole "what's gonna work for me" angst you're experiencing. I think most of us do that don't have access to trying someone's set up or being able to go into a shop and ask an expert. I researched and read until my head spun and then decided to get something that would be "tailorable" for whatever my needs might turn out to be. I had tried the disposable and could see the potential when I got a hit that was in the "sweet" spot. But that was way too inconsistent and the battery life of the product was so poor it actually died before I was even half done with the juice inside. This told me I wanted something rechargeable and something that could be adjusted and stay at the setting I wanted. I ended up choosing a Vamo V2. It looks nothing like a cigarette but that's okay with me. It has the ability to be adjusted and instead of being plugged in to an outlet to be charged, I can just change out the batteries. It was the best choice for my still undecided and unsure mind.

Hopefully you'll be able find something that you can be happy with. Good luck!

Steve,

I'll go with the crowd on this one and say you can't go wrong with some type of eGo. You get the 510 threads for compatibility with a large amount of accessories, as well as the eGo threads for the eGo products. The eGo-C Twist is the least expensive variable voltage device I've found and I love mine. Some flavors are light, so I can turn up the heat and get a bit more out of them. Some are strong and I turn it down. At around $20 you really can't beat it.

Having said that, I started out with a MadVapes Mini eGo Smart Kit and haven't had the first issue out of it. You get the battery, charger, and 2 cartomizers. It is an eGo-style battery, but small enough to conceal in the hand. A charge will last me through the work day.

Best wishes.

Ok based on some of your recommedations, I found the eGo Twist starter kit at vaporalley.com. Here's the link:

eGo Twist 900 mAh CE4 Starter Kit

Seems very reasonable and seller looks to have good feedback. Since this is a starter kit, what else would I need other than some juice?

On the topic of juice, what do I order? I smoked methol in analogs and I have used menthol in the Logic brand disposable. What are some recommendations for flavors and should I order juice from this vendor or use someone else?

While I understand your wanting to stick with the cigarette sized e-cigs, you will be sorely disappointed by all of the products out there that fit into that idiom. I kept trying them thinking that the next one would be different, but they were all the same. I've been at this for a couple of years, and always wanted to keep it similar to smoking. Truth be told, it's all about the experience, and I haven't had the full experience (where it's what I want to do instead of smoke) until I got my most recent setup. I've got the Zmax Mini with a tank setup along with some top quality Five Pawns e-juice. Man, it not only tastes really good, but with the variable voltage setup, I get a great throat hit and serious nicotine satisfaction. The setup was pricey...close to $225. However, when I think of the money I've spent on duds over the course of two years, it's a very small price to pay. The size isn't too large either, and you get used to it pretty quick. Again, it's about LIKING what you're doing, not just tolerating it.

Good luck man, and Happy Vaping! Enjoy the journey:vapor:

I would get an Ego battery with a Vivi nova head, I like the mini. Its cheap, gets the job done, and I LOVE it. I switched to that from Blu, and now my Blu set is collecting dust under my bed. Im so glad I discovered tank systems.

Also , pick up a sample pack from somewhere like Johnson's Creek. You get 5 little bottles of whatever flavor you choose, I like Ranier and Vanda the best, and they ship FAST.

You're on the right track. Just get out of the cigarette look alike mode. You're going to need to get enough satisfaction if you're going to vape as an alternative to smoking and those little batteries will not provide you with that satisfaction. Not to mention, you are stuck with less options as far as vaping methods. I'm going to recommend this : http://www.vaporbeast.com/product_p/sk36.htm you're going to need at least two batteries so that when one needs to be charged, you have the other to vape with. I purchased this kit after researching ecigs for days. I also purchased a Boge F16 carto tank and the "Ridiculous Chocolate Mint" 18mg. I am beyond satisfied with this set up. In fact, I get pregnant, like, 8 times, every time I take a toot off it and my life has become one giant overdose because I cannot stop vaping. This is just my opinion based on my experience with vaping. Which isn't a whole lot since I just switched from analogs about 3 weeks ago. But it is experience none the less. I don't know what's going to satisfy you. Everyone is different. If you are like me and are looking for huge vapor and huge throat hit, this set up is going to provide that for you. If you are a cheap ....... like me, also, than you might go with the regular Ego C twist kit, as opposed to the Ego Twist Ultra kit, which is a little less expensive. By the way, vaporbeast, and many other venders, will send you a free sample of juice if you ask them to. I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up deciding on. I'm going to go back to my snuff film marathon now.

Your friend,

Jason

Just to be non-conformist, you might take a look at the eRoll. Some consider it a cig-a-like, some don't. Quite a few veterans here have them for out and about and love them...and while I will be upgrading to a VV device soon for home use, it's what I got after trying a couple of Blu's and finding them wanting. I've been using the kit for 6 weeks and have been very happy.

Runs on 3.7V, 1.8 ohm (seems to be the preference even for a lot of VV users), refillable tanks and replaceable atomizer, all in a very compact and easy to use form factor. One battery will last me about 30 minutes chain vaping, and by that time the 2nd unit is charged and ready to go. Plenty of vapor and flavor in a really compact unit.

This user review is what helped me decide to get it, since I wasn't into any of the larger units (even cigar sized was too big for me to consider as a newbie).
