That was for 70%vg 30%pg. I thought that is what you were using. You would just have to switch the vg & pg and use nic in a pg base.

No I do the opposite. 70 pg 30 vg

Question on nic strength. Is there a perfect nic strength to start with? Some like higher and some lower. Is there one that is too low that it would not work for 9mg?

When I use the calculator it give a generic use pg or vg in the combinations. So if the nic is I say the pg then I but vg that has none right?

Also what flavor strength am I shooting for? I have heard 5% but watches a video where he talked about 50%?

Also how does one store nic? Does it go bad?

I get a high mg nic liquid in a big plastic bottle, I cut it down into a safer workable mg count and store in Cobalt glass bottles and keep in a very cool dark basement pantry. Since I have not been vaping but a littl eover two months, I am not experienced with my method of storage, shelf life yet. I do date and put the a lot number on it and match the shipping label to it, so if there is ever a recall or problems I will know.

No, not a perfect strength to start with. I would suggest about 3x - 4x as strong as you want your end result to be, since it is more expensive than plain vg & pg the less of it you use the better. If you have 48mg nic and want 12mg juice, you will be using 25% of the volume in nic. If you bought 24mg nic & want 12mg juice you would have 50% volume in nic.

I have looked at the calculators but do not use them.
You will need to enter your nic base (percentage of vg/pg) and strength (like 48mg)
And your target mixture% (70%pg 30%vg)
And your flavor % (most people suggest starting at 5% then adding drops as needed to get taste where you want) Most people seem to think 20% flavor is the maximum.

36mg would be an easy strength to work with if you wanted 9mg as your final mix. you would mix one part nic juice with 3 parts of flavoring and vg or pg combined.

Mr Flapp - This vg is cheaper than ordering online. Walmart has it, it is under the bandaids (usually). The Walmart people won't know what vegetable glycerine is but they should know they have glycerine.

myfreedomsmokes is having a 30% off sale on nic juice with coupon code 30nic. I could make 625ml of 20mg nic base for 48 bucks including shipping, or just get 125 ml of 100mg nic for 18 bucks (all with out shipping)

I dont think this is true... Just went to order a bunch of DIY stuff including a liter of 60mg nic juice and the code didnt work...

[EDIT] Oh found the post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...3985-30-off-unflavored-coupon-code-30nic.html

...was through 12/6/2011 oh well... Bought a buncha stuff ($105) anyway!

Thanks for this thread everyone, excited to become a mad scientist.

I'm a month or 2 into DIY. In that time, I've vaped alotta so-so juice and some has gone down the drain. I bought alotta flavors and the first step was to see what flavors I liked. Simple. Add a small amount of flavoring to 0 nic juice and try it. Some flavors were keepers. Some flavors were "maybe if they were combined with something else" and some were "aw, hell no!!" OK, so step 1 was to identify the "I'd rather frickin' die first" flavors and get them outa the mix. :)

Determining what flavors blend well with others (and at what proportions) is trickier and more time consuming. It will be an ongoing hobby, if you will, with delicious rewards when things click just right.

I am starting to see success. My last 3 batches were all centered around a blend of 2 tobacco flavors that I really like. All 3 batches were the best I've vaped to date. Cool. It's time to mix up my first large batch and let it steep.

How are your math skills? Simple algebraic equations? Remember the "something over something equals something over something"? Cross multiply and divide? That was the single most useful thing I ever learned in school.

Meeeee, too! That is about the only thing that really stuck (math-wise) with me, and I use it for EVERYTHING!

Ok what if we looked at this from a different angle? What price do u think a 30ml bottle of juice at a reg nic strength say 12 mg 16mg 18mg 24 mg should be for u to be comfortable paying for it? And how much for shipping would be fair? With 30 ml going for as high as $30 plus shipping and being able to make ur own 30 ml for...didn't someone say $3? (Correct me if I am wrong)

What price would u be comfortable paying for a custom made juice? What price would be fair to the vaper and the vendor? Who knows maybe if we come up with something we can get one of the vendors to listen! Wouldn't that be a hoot!!

I will throw my thoughts out there
$12 for 30 ml .50 for extra flavoring
3.50 flat rate shipping
Free for orders over $30 always

How does that sound?

I think I will stick with DIY. Cheaper for me and I don't have to wait. Always order nic and flavoring before I run out. I get VG at Wally World and PG at a local pharmacy that does compounding. LOL! No shipping!

I personally like what I make better, and if I happen to make something I don't, it is still way cheaper than a premixed juice and I can make what I want and when I need it.....

Hmmmmmm.....
Thats $16.00 w/shipping for 30 ml.....
Thats a 75% proifit for something that takes less than one minute to put together....
W/O shipping......
But, I can make my own 30 ml for under $3.00......
I'll stick to my own DIY..........
So for me, anything over $4.00 is too much.....

Seems that the draw of the DIY, for making e-juice, or anything else for that matter is usually only partly financial.
The other and maybe more important parts for me would be the creative, educational, and self reliant satisfaction.

Also, to know pretty much exactly what is in it when there are not many juice manufacturers that self impose rules for labeling of the ingredients. I think it is foolish to step in, nevermind inhale, substances who's ingredients are vaguely outlined.
