I work in a kitchen...so, because of the health code, we have to go outside to "smoke". Anyway...when I first started vaping, my exec. chef and my sous chef gave me a hard time about it, both being smokers themselves. Not a hard time in a bad way...but in a funny haha way. Anyway...sous chef quit smoking and exec. chef wants to quit but hasn't been able to... Today exec. chef and I were outside while I was puffing on my PV and he was having a smoke...conversation went as follows:

"so...have those helped you?"

"*grins* quite a bit...the man and I still have our last half pack of camels sitting on the window, untouched"

"really? from day one? and you haven't wanted it?"

"nope. I've gotten curious because I hear about how bad they taste and I want to know how they taste/why the hell i smoked them in the first place...but i've never acted on that curiosity or even really had the urge to smoke one...they're more or less just part of the clutter/a trophy. I haven't even found out what my 'trigger' could be. Haven't had a desire to have one at all"

"ah...*puff puff...silence* ... er...so...how much did that cost? cause, yaknow, wolfer had one that he payed over a hundred for (njoy) and he went back to smoking when it kinda broke"

"yea...i know...he probably should have stuck with it and bought one of mine...i payed less that 50 for mine"

"REALY? And that's supposed to be a better model?"

"yea."

"Where did you get it?"

"I bought a few kits from china and a few from a supplier out here"

"there's suppliers out here?"

At that point...someone called for him in the kitchen for help...

Point is...I'm liking his curiosity...at first, as a smoker, (and the fact that another co-worker had a PV and it was more of a "toy") he was a bit skeptical, but now he's asking me more questions and he seems a bit "jealous", in a way, of the sous chefs quitting/the lack of people to "smoke" with outside now.

It's amazing at how skeptical smokers and "former" smokers are about our PV's yet my best supporters are those who never smoked a cigarette in their life.

Just keep his curiosity up. It sounds like he really wants to try it, but is cautious because of the "stigma" about it being the "easy way out" or just plain too easy. And yes, he can get a starter kit Joye 510 from cignot.com for $35.00 + $5.00 for shipping which is about 1/2 the cost of a carton of cigarettes around here!

Good story and use your tact to get him to the "vape Side"...

Actually Shortstuff, I'm not suprised at all about it. I was skeptical myself when I first learned about it.

Guess this is one of those you have to try it to believe it.
You're absolutely right and I too was skeptical, but what I'm surprised at is how skeptical some have been, I guess I should call it their high level defensive skepticism.

And of course there are those who are just plain "old-fashioned" and would never even begin to accept new technology. Then there are those who just like us have been ridiculed and pushed outside to smoke and therefore hardened themselves against non-smokers, even former-smokers. Then there are those I've run across who said "Yeah I know they contain anti-freeze" which we know is not accurate.

Although skeptical myself, it was an easy acceptance for me. Perhaps I'm just too hopeful that others would at least try it, and then again maybe it bothers me that even though I know I'm trying to help them improve their health, the blow me off without hesitation.

Now, if someone shows interest I'll oblige them with whatever they want to know. I no longer push it on anyone.

Today was my first day back at work since I started vaping. All my co-workers are non-smokers. The first one to arrive came in my office, I told her I'd quit smoking, showed her my Vapor King, explained how it worked, and then took a drag on it while she sat there looking stunned. I then asked her if she could smell anything. She sniffed, she got close to me and sniffed again, and admitted she didn't smell a thing. She also didn't see any vapor come out of my mouth. She was tickled pink that I'd quit smoking, and said she was going to tell a friend about this cool thing and try to get him to try to quit with it, too.

So I decided to just go ahead and vape at my desk all day. Nobody smelled a thing. I didn't do it when anyone was looking, or walk around with the e-cig. I call today a success :)

So far I have had nothing but positive reactions to my vaping. Last year our state put the no-smoking in the work place law into effect. (It's sort of ironic because I work in a room with 10 large EDM machines that produce vast amounts of smoke through the metal removal process.) Our company did have the option to provide a smoking area but because of insurance interests they chose to not allow smoking anywhere on the property.
I had always wanted to quit smoking but was never able to find an alternative that could fill the void until I found out about Vaping.
Last month I approached my boss about the alternative of an E-Cigarette. He was quite interested. Legally he could see nothing wrong with it so I went ahead and bought one. My 1st E-cig was made by a company called Premium E-Cigarette. With the E-cig kit, came a very nicely prepared brochure explaining everything about the E-cig. They also included a few business cards that I could pass out. When I took the whole package to work the first day I showed the boss the E-Cig and the brochure. I explained how it worked and demonstrated it for him. He could see nothing wrong with it. I then posted the brochure on the employee bulletin board. Since then at least 4 other smokers that I work with have purchased E-cigs.

In public, I don't stealth vape but I don't exhale towards other people either. I try to be courteous of others. When questioned about my E-Cig, I explain how it works, why I use it and what it has done for me. If they want me to demonstrate it, I gladly do so.
I recently purchased a very nice stainless steel 510 with a blue LED. I feel it actually makes people less suspicious to the posssibility that I am smoking a real cigarette.

I think this is awesome! I just received my reply about e-cig use on campus and inside campus buildings at the University of Georgia. This is from a Senior Director in the Office of Employee Relations:

"It is my understanding that the smoking policy restricts the use of tobacco products.

I don't believe that smoking policy is applicable to the use of an "electronic" cigarette because there is no tobacco, smoke or combustion involved in its use."

I call that Permission Granted to vape at my desk! Yay!

Wow! An open minded and logical response. Kudos to both you and the Sr. Director lol

I work in an office building, in a cubicle with low walls. Everyone here can see what everyone else is doing all the time.

My first eCig was the Joye306a Super-mini that looks exactly like a regular cigarette. The first day I got it, I sat at my desk and vaped away. A few of my co-workers gave me funny looks, but said nothing. Later, my supervisor came over to talk to me, apparently assuming that I was unaware of the no smoking laws of my own state.

I took another puff right in front of him, and then shoved the glowing red LED right into the side of my own face. Then I smiled at him.

No one ever said another word about it after that.

Actually, while the above story is perfectly true, I did explain to him that is wasn't a cigarette (once he calmed down) and showed him exactly how an eCig worked. I've since switched to a black 510 with a blue LED so that people will KNOW that it isn't a cigarette. Now several people in my office have recently asked me where they can get one...
