Be very, very, VERY careful with the charger that is included with the Vamo kit. If it's a dull blue color with a flip-up wall-plug and two-battery port (basically, a cheap looking battery charger), DO NOT USE IT. Toss it to the side and get a better battery charger. It WILL, repeat, WILL, kill your batteries. I've seen them melt.

Not quite a light saber, but these are on FastTech somewhere. You can just make the hummm-swoosh sound. Wearing a cape might help.

On the few occasions when I have to go back to my eGos for whatever reason (testing a rebuilt coil, etc.), you can really notice the drop off in hit quality.

A Joyetech eGo T 650 mAh upgrade battery has 4.1 volts of juice at full strength, 3.6 as the battery dies down according to spec in vv mode. If you are running an Evod for example as your juice vessel, there really isn't any drop off in vape quality from what I've seen compared to the VAMO (which I've borrowed and tried, do not own). Same with the Kanger Protank, I find this device runs best on my MVP at about 3.8 volts.

So I see very little difference in hit quality, but the MVP is definitely more consistent. If you want to hit something at 4 volts, it's 4 volts every single time. With the eGo batteries it may be 4.1 or 3.7, but it's still in the range for a good vape IMO.

It seems to me the benefit of a mod is the extras. Ohm meter, vw, consistency of hits and the ability to recharge on the fly by simply putting another battery in. With the eGos the portability, practicality, durability and size/form-factor seem to be the benefits. The bottom line though is if you think you get a better vape off a Vamo, get a Vamo. If you think the eGo 1000mAh battery is just fine, stay with it. I'm going to probably go with a REO or ProVari mini at some point, but the egos (650X3, 1000X1, 350X1) and the MVP are plenty for me right now.

The kit he's looking at includes the Nitecore charger.

The kit I got had a black, wallmounted charger with a flipdown plug.

Since I already had a Nitecore, I put the kit's charger (and batteries) safely in the backup box.

It's a NiteCore. A well-respected high quality charger.
Why you gonna scare someone like that?!

I've yet to see FastTech post anything blatantly innaccurate, like a photo of one charger substituting an inferior one.
(you just DO need to be aware that a FastTech EVOD isn't a Kanger unless it says so, and EGO isn't a brand...lol).

Ocelot is right--the 510 threads on the Vamo are somewhat delicate and care is needed in attaching and detaching delivery systems that require the 510 connection. That's the only real drawback I've encountered so far.

Noted! Thanks! I tend to baby my stuff, except the ego my dog destroyed, but I destroyed him in return LOL! I will grab a better charger anyway, They aren't very expensive :) better safe than sorry!

There are (at least) two Vamo V3 kits available on FastTech. Here's the one I got:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1376701

I didn't need the charger and already had Panasonic 18350B's on the way. The charger that's in the kit does look cheap, but it also has what looks like a Nitecore logo on it. It's still staying in the backup box. ;)

Thanks for all thoughts and suggestions! I went and checked out the Zmax as well. I think I am going to go with the Vamo V3 from FT. It comes with the batts and charger and I have Clearos already. Plus with the $40.00 I can get some more Juice and a few more clearos and atomizers.

The Provari is a no go, the price point puts it way out there....

I really like the look of the Vamo and it will fit my iClear 16's too. I plan on keeping my eGo K's for when we go out and about, I have a lanyard for them already. I really appreciate all your input and thoughts.

So this will be my next major purchase:

$58.85 Vamo V3 Stainless Steel Variable Voltage E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Set - with Nitecore I2 US battery charger / 2*Panasonic CGR18650CH 18650 batteries at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Thanks again everyone :)

(I want the light saber from the youtube video pretty bad LOL)

Geeve

Good choice!

It depends on your preferences. My fiance still uses her twist after trying my mods, she says the portability outweighs the positives of the different mods. I on the other hand haven't touched my twist since getting my first mod, and am in vaping heaven with my current favorite. Different strokes for different folks. Stop by a shop if you have one near by to look at what they got, maybe find a nearby vape meet. Most vapors love showing off their toys.

Edit: another nice vv/vw mod in your price that nobody has mentioned yet (apologies if someone did and I missed it) is the SID. It's my current backup and hasn't let me down yet.

I have all the following mods;
For a sub $100 purchase i would recommend;
My advice for ease of use would be the Vamo (i prefer the look of the V2 - the V3 looks like a shower hose to me).
My advice for durability would be the SVD (complicated menu but well built and telescopic - takes all batteries).
My advice for longevity of battery would be the MVP (no ohm meter - out of action while charging - ultimately disposable due to the in-built battery).
I also have an iTaste VW 800MaH which is good but requires too much charging for my needs (approx 10 hrs vape time)

I think they all perform well and would suit your needs. I am a little bit jealous that you are at the start of your journey and are in for a treat.
Whatever you go with i'm sure you'll be happy with because you had the good sense to ask here first.
Happy vaping. :)

Hm, in my memory it looked like a dark blue, but it could be black. And yes, it was a wallmounted charger with a flip up/down plug. DON'T USE IT.

EDIT: Fished it out from under some boxes. Yes, it is indeed black. Don't use it. It'll kill whatever batteries you put in it.

Sorry, but I just have to correct a couple of things inaccurately posted about the Vamo -

It does have eGo threading (someone said only 510, which is wrong)

The buttons do lock (5 click power on and off feature)

Now for my 2 cents...

The FastTech kit with the Nitecore i2 and Panasonic 18650 batteries is a solid choice. I suggest you also get a pair of 18350 batteries. AW IMR 18350 and Efest 18350 batteries are the usual recommendations; FastTech sells neither, and all of FastTech's 18350s are reportedly garbage.

What else? My Vamo V3 is a huge step up from my eGo-type twist batteries. Once you get one, you'll know. Don't base your assessment of bottom coil tanks on one experience. You could be quite right that you hate bottom coils, or it could be that you hated that specific one. The FastTech Evods clones are a pretty cheap way to find out if bottom coils have any merit.
