A little break on my work proposal, so I'm taking time off while I can.

I'm running power to our little shed at camp, so I can have decent lighting and run a trickle charger on the lawn tractor battery over the winter.

DW and I are also working on repainting the camp house, a light shade of blue, coming out nicely.

I've got a camp plumbing thing to take care of, reseating/leveling the toilet. Our neighbor was going to help, has done this before, but he's super busy this summer, so it's time for me to get off my .... and get it done. First part will be adjusting the bulk leveling of that part of the house, then putting in a new small rectangle of plywood for the flange to attach to, and fine leveling. Thankfully DW is okay with it being a new piece, rather than having to rip and replace the entire floor.

What would we all do with ourselves if we didn't have projects to work on!? Sounds like a lot of work, but I know you'll get it done, Mark :)

It's been so hot and humid that I've not had the energy to work on the patio. Plus having car insurance due next month has me pinched a little tighter. I try to hold back some $$ for it every month, but my electric bill smacked me upside the head from that early heatwave, and I try not to have to dip into my emergency funds for things like insurance.

Since I can't afford (and would never recoup the investment at my age) to replace these old single hung windows, I've been looking at whether or not some cheap'ish storm windows would be a possible DIY job with another person helping. It would be about $80-$100 for each storm window for the 28x54" size I need. Just another idea swirling around in my head.

Time for saw practice:
Do-it-yourselfers can save on storm windows

You could get some of those little screw-in tabs at a homedepot, the ones used to hold the windows in a storm door, to help hold the storm windows in place, they're pretty small.

I'd go with the 1x2 pressure treated for the frames, stain them rather than paint.

(I use 1x2 pt, with some white plastic lattice, for dog-protection frames on an exterior storm door at our house, so they don't break the glass; these work better than the store-bought ones, and can be made the exact size needed. I'm building a larger PT + lattice window protector for an outbuilding at camp; we'll still get light, and can open the window for ventilation, but random branch strikes won't break the window.)

Those are some great ideas, Mark! I have been watching videos and reading about making my own, and plexi would sure be cheaper than glass. The screw in tabs I hadn't thought of...and easy solution for removing from the couple of windows I like to able to open in non hvac weather. Thanks for the extra brain food to ponder :)

I've got an appointment with my regular Doc today.....

Let's hope that toilet flange job doesn't explode.....

Mom's tub faucet was dripping....It's nearly 75 years old....I goobers up the threads getting it apart and thought I'd just replace that stem....Dude at the supply says he's never seen a stem of this type...No marking on the stem....A patent number search from the spout/diverter only reveals Kohler and that's only a possibility...This old unit is built into the wall and will require major surgury to replace with new...I did manage to cobble together a washer and have the leak stopped and water back on but the job is far from finished....Got an antique plumbing supply number written down but like I said Doc today.....that supply is 55 miles one way....

The main water control in our home bathtub is due for replacement, but the darn allen screw holding the single handle on is frozen solid. I need to pull the core that the handle is attached to and replace it, but am stuck.

I'll probably try one last round of wd40 and silicone, then to heck with it, drill it out [emoji3]

I've got a MAAP gas torch that I had in the bathroom yesterday...It seems especially handy unsticking things such as that set screw...I'd give that a whirl....If the Allen isn't stripped from the set screw I also like a little impact action to free things up....

Got a good report from my Doc....She didn't once mention statin and even promoted the Mediterrian Diet....Auntie always goes with me and she stopped and got her and Unk a salmon and something or other take out with double Greek salad....I whirled into the grocery and got a pineapple and a watermelon that I now have in the fridge all cut and ready...I figure it's better than cake....bet this though I get back near that Publix at the beach and a brother is getting a Key Lime Pie....Also hit the Wally's and grabbed oil and filter for the Tacoma...Gonna change that tomorrow and install those sway bar end links I've had 6 months or more.....maybe get rid of that clunk, clunk......I did get referred too a dermatologist for some spots on my face that didn't freeze off worth a ding dang....

Did somebody say water problems?
Yup, my basement is taking in water. The ex hubs and hubs (yup, they’ve come a long way baby!) went to check out what the issue is and found that the downspouts on the one side needed adjusting...and the problem on the other side is a bit of a bigger issue. Ex hubs laid a bunch of pavers on that side about 16-20 years ago. When he did that job he ran a metal pipe from the down spouts under all those pavers to drain along the side of my porch. We believe said pipe has rotted away leaving all of that roof water into basement walls.
It’s a good thing we are on good terms with that mason! :) He said he will fix it and use pvc this time.

I used frankincense oil, undiluted on an ugly spot on my face with great success a few years ago. I applied twice per day to clean skin and honest to goodness that sucker was G-O-N-E in two weeks! The process wasn’t the prettiest as it bled some while exiting, but it worked and no scalpel was needed. (That’s the best part with no insurance)

Just got the call and accepted a cancellation for Monday at the dermatologist....Not looking forward to it but I'm going for sure....As far as essential oils go I've had some previous luck using cannabis oil combined with coconut oil to thin it a bit....Now that I've got the charity care though I'm gonna use it....I may still go with the cannabis oil mixture though....

Dang I got censored....I often re-read my posts and see where my spelling got changed without my catching it.....

Dee, glad to hear your Dr appt went well! Also happy you were able to snag a cancellation appt with the derm Dr. Finding one here who takes Medicaid is damn near impossible.

Sure hope those water problems aren't contagious! Car insurance is due, so I don't need any unforeseen expenses sneaking up on me,

Bov I'm in the University of North Carolina, UNC for short medical system....Not sure if SC has a University system or not but that would be the best bet for medical care...NC is talking about expanding medicade....I doubt they will and I certainly hope they don't....I'm good with the Charity Care....

Got the Tacoma oil changed and those dog bone links installed on the sway bar....180K of miles and those links were impossibly tight....Wrench slipped and I'm sporting two gashes....one on the back of my hand and another about 8 inches up my forearm....Got one of those old man's bruises on the forearm gash....It'll heal but dangitt!!!
