It's mine. I got a Kalamazoo triple-v out of the classifieds the other day. I measured load voltage with one of these. The batteries I have in the triple v are these.

Wonder if the AW's are any different. There's several different battery chemistries... so it may vary. Anyway... once the batteries catch up... it's still a regulator issue. Your point is well made tho.
