Been enjoying my KR808D-1s with Cartomizers (prefilled and fill myself) analog free now for 3 months, but NOW ready to drip and dip, but not sure which hardware to buy/try.

My two main goals:

1) FIRST -- to do taste tests on the DIY e-juices I will now make for myself from scratch without filling a whole cartomizer. Drip or dip and with what?

2) Next -- just want to try both dripping and dipping as so many people in this forum seem to like it.

What models and hardware do you all use and why do you like this best? If one type is better for dripping than for dipping, I'll buy both. Thanks so much.

I started with 808's. Then riva 510's with map tanks, dripping and carto's. When I got sick of the extra work required to get a good consistant vape I found bottom feeder mods. First was an oldgoat made out of plastic, inexpensive. I wanted something I felt like I could drop without worrying about breaking. I found the REO mods and haven't looked back. If you haven't checked into them, maybe you should. Reos Mods

I will add an amen, couldn't be happier with my REO's. For starters, though, you could just get a few 901 atty's for dripping/testing flavors - they'll fit right on your current batteries. That was my first foray into the world of atomizers (I also started with the KR8). I quickly learned that the 901 was fine for testing flavors, but can be quite messy due to the vent hole in the side of the atomizer body. I also moved tried 510's, but didn't have the patience to be dripping all the time. An atomizer didn't become really appealing until I got my first REO Mini - took all the hassle out of it. Now I use low-resistance 306 atomizers and really like them. If you decide to try 901's, keep in mind that a battery of at least 450mAh is recommended for low-resistance atomizers, so don't attempt to use them with your regular KR8 batteries - use the regular 901's instead.

This is what I am wanting to do too. Started with an 808 kit last month but would like to be able to sample juices without having to fill up a cartomizer. If I order a 901 atomizer and a drip tube, would that be the easiest way to try it? Thanks!

Yep, exactly. You don't even really need a drip tip, as you can just use the empty mouthpiece (a whistle-tip type) and pop it off to add a few drips if you like.

I'm going to be devil's advocate and go another direction --

Get one of the Riva or Ego pass thru's. It's the same battery size as an ego, (longer lasting, fatter) you can use as pass thru for dripping when at computer (and since I keep my juices near my desktop it works well when I'm on computer.)

Essentially, it is a battery that you can vape while it is charging. And, if you want to go mobile, just unplug it, put on it's little end cover (if you want) and go.

This way you will have one unit that is very versitile as you can try many different fun toys with it from various carto's, to tank atty to LR atty's.-- and with a $2 adapter use your KR808 cartos too.

For starters, I'd just get a "regular" 510 atty & a drip tip.

I too wanted to drip to simply taste things instead of loading something up but it quickly became my regular use - even on the go I would just squirt some extra in there lasted me long enough to make me happy.

I got into dripping on an ego battery and the type b barrel low resistance atomizer and when it blew I just about had a conniption because I just cant get the same flavor with my old goat bottom feeder or with the eGo tank....tank is closest, but not the same as dripping.

To drip with your current kr808-1 manual battery you just need a 901 atty and a drip tip. Atomizers do not have filling in them, conoeist, just the coil, so you drip a few drops vape and repeat.

Atomizer for dripping
Atomizer and cart for filler transfer of liquid
Atomizer and cart combined into one unit makes a cartomizer
Tank systems use a needle to puncture a liquid carrying tank and drips it into your atomizer - also no filler

Because of the possibiliy of flooding the atomizer when you drip, you do not want to do this on an auto battery as they are not sealed.

Hope that helps! :)

If you're KR808D-1 batt is a manual - get yourself a 901 atty and a drip tip that fits a 901 (the ones for the 510's also fit the 901). Suggest TW:

Mini DSE901 Electronic Cigarette-Atomizer (Black)

TW long Nylon Drip tip for the 510 or DSE901

If you're KR8 batt is an auto - you shouldn't use it for dripping - easy to short out through the switch. In this case, it opens up some other possibilities... You could just get the above and get a battery and charger as well:

Mini DSE901 Electronic Cigarette-Batteries

Mini DSE901 Electronic Cigarette-USB Charger

Or you could go 510 - for example:

full kit:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-nbx.htm

single batt + atty:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/joy-bat-vap.htm

charger:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/510-reg-chg.htm

obviously, the kit is the better deal - for $10 more you get another batt and atty and carts (which you won't need for dripping) but you'd be able to use the 'shipping blank cart' that come on the attys for dripping.. or get a drip tip:

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/510-drp-tpm.htm

There are many other choices - getting an eGo or a Riva (in either 510 or 901) and if you go 510 and really like dripping then you must at least try the cisco 306 lr atty:

LR306 Low Resistance Atomizer 1.5 ohm (Cisco Spec) - Avid Vaper
XL306 Contoured LR306 Delrin® Drip Tip - Avid Vaper

Wow! Great input from everyone. Thanks so much for such super explanations. All combined, you've all cleared up so many questions I had, even ones that didn't have to do with dripping itself.

Onward and forward and tomorrow for sure. I feel like a kid in a candy store! And at my age, speaking as an avid fisherwoman, I don't hang around waiting for a fish to bite just one type of bait on one pole nor in one spot. Guess ecigs won't be any different for me.

Yep! I'll probably try ALL of your suggestions and pronto. They all have relevance for the ways ecigs fit for me. THANKS SO MUCH. If you think that sounds a little overboard . . . well, you should see my tacklebox (oops -- make that tackleboxes). Gives those trout nighmares! Thanks again.
