Striped Bass is amazing, flesh similar to lobster, not fishy at all. But it is expensive, but they are running soon in the Hudson.

Heck yes man...do you go fish?
Catching one is awsum, we go to island beach st park and fish off the jetti or the shore when they run.
I have fishin buddies down there, retired, he fishes every day, so I get the scoop

@ Kitty...

Paying close to $8/lb for good bacon here in SoCal these days :(

Tell me about it!! I get it on sale and then freeze it, so I always have some on hand... :)

(and that meme said 2011 anyway... lol)

But living in SoCal, we always have fresh fish available, plus I'm lucky to live by the coast where there is a really good fish market... :2cool: I really like shark and it's great on the grill because it doesn't fall apart!!

I pay less than that but I buy a whole hog and they process and do the smoking. I pick up the easy stuff in a couple days and the rest whenever they call

We dont really have that as an option here in Southern California. Well not unless I wanted to drive a few hours.

but i know where to get some really awesome Korean Fusion Tacos, close by......

I was vacationing down the Shore, Brant Beach, Long Beach Island. The kid in the house next door set me up, lent me his rod, told me to get a quart of salt clam, and just how and where to cast. The rod was all set. He told me go about 15ft south of the rock jetty and cast out.

So, I got a quart of clam, a 6 pack, a chair and a smutty novel, and I was set. I'd see people surf fishing all the time, but never saw anything caught bigger than a sea robin, so I set my chair, baited and cast out, and was just reaching for a beer and a long afternoon.

And wham, big hit, fought it in, 29" Striper!!! First cast!!! We ate good for a coupla meals!!!

I should have stopped right then. Do you know how many freakin quarts of salt clams I have drowned trying for another? 11 years, I think.

I should have stopped after the first, my average would have been unbeatable...
