Instead of started a thread I just got my first grand I have a VVG that I bought used.... Anyway I've seen alot of pics of grands with ss brass and black buttons. Can someone tell me how to install it.... It came in a bag just the button I don't see a set screw? There was a piece of string which I thought was debris so do I super glue it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Lock the button on the Reo, lay the string over the button then press the button cover onto the button. Then trim off excess string.

I recoiled my Nuppin' the other day cause I was bored. I decided to do a dual twisted 29g 5 wrap 1/16" that came in at .33Ω. It's ok but i think the 26g build i had in it vaped a little better even though it was at .45Ω. I don't think this one will make it more than another few days. I think I'll be putting back either the 26g or maybe some 24g. I just think the single strand vaped better than the twisted. I think I will keep it in the .35Ω range though.

Muzic, I'm loving my dual 26g Muzichead build in my Nuppin. I never could get the spitback to stop with twisted. Question for you bud, I have 2 Odins - right now one is built at .37 with dual 26g 8 wraps. The other is built at .34 with dual twisted 29g 6 wraps. Both on the same 2nd smallest mandrel of the holy gizmo. Both positioned identically (or as close to it as I can get) to the airflow. Now, the throat hit or "harshness" of the twisted build is at least 2x that of the plain ol' nontwisted 26g.

My question: do you find twisted wire hits harder/harsher?

My question: do you find twisted wire hits harder/harsher?

I have found it would depend more on the atty itself... It must take forever for that dual twisted 26g to heat up!! I went to twisted 29g for 2 reasons, first was I had a 100' spool of it just sitting there and the second was heat up time. It just heated faster than the lower gage wire I was using. In all fairness though, on a couple of the 24g builds I had done, they were like 6/7 or 7/8 wraps and that was why heat up time was so long. I'm not convinced that twisted wire gives the harsher vape, but it is more about coil placement to the air supply. Closer / further away and also higher / lower will all yield different results. In my experience, farther and higher is very harsh. Closer and lower or even centered is optimal.

As to atty dependent,

I have a Mephisto that I have a dual 29g twisted setup in and it is one of the most mellow vapes I have had. The other I have 24g single strand setup and it is just smooth, flavorful, and dense clouds... I find myself vaping that one more everyday it seems. I think the 26g in the Nuppin' was the closest I had in comparison and is why I will probably go back to it, but with less wraps as I want the heat up to be quicker and warmer.

On my Derringer, the first setup I put in it was dual 3/32" 24g tensioned coils @ .35Ω and it was just too hot for that atty. It seemed after taking a couple hits the heat would just settle into the atty and took a while to dissipate and when I picked it back up to vape again, even the delrin tip on it was warm. I took that out and put in the dual 29g twisted coils that are in it now. They vape is pretty good, but I think it could be better.

As I said earlier in the Nuppin' I had 26g 7/8 wraps and heat up wasn't bad in it. Very good vape though. I think I will shoot for 26g 4/5 or 5/6 wrap this next time with it. This will give me the quicker heat up and warmer vape I am looking for. I have considered a 3/32" set of coils in it, but don't think that will work as well due to only using RxW in all my builds. The 3mm just wouldn't lay right inside the atty and I don't think tilted coils would work optimally in the Nuppin'.

As to the spitback you and some others have experienced, I am thinking this is due to wicking. As I mentioned I only use RxW in all my builds and though I have the usual popping going on in my builds, I never get any spitback... I thought the other day I was getting some in the Nuppin' then quickly noticed it wasn't spitback but merely the drip tip I had on it wasn't as wide a bore as my others and condensation had built up in the tip and that was what I was experiencing... I have since corrected that and it is now in my vapebox of extra's I will never use... I may experiment with it a little and try at least drilling a steeper drop off in it for the condensation to go back into the atty better. In the past I had tried to bore some tips out wider, but used too large a bit and the neck of the atty was ruined.

Muzic, that was an incredibly informative post that I hope benefits others in addition to me. Thank you for taking the time - that's awesome brother.

To clarify, I've got two Odins side by side right now: one has dual nontwisted 26g, the other has twisted 29g. They're metering within .03 ohms of each other, so very close to identical resistance. The airhole alignment is visually extremely similar if not identical - and the nontwisted 26g vape is very warm but smooth, while the twisted 29g vape is warm but has a strong throat hit. I'd go so far as to say the twisted 29g has 2x or 3x the throat hit. They're wicked the same so virtually everything about these builds is identical except for a minor difference in resistance, and the fact that one is nontwisted 26g while the other is twisted 29g.

Looking back, this explains to me why I find the Nuppin hits so smooth. It's not hitting any smoother than my new build in an Odin with 26g - but, before I had twisted 29g in both Odins, which was the basis for my comparison to the 26g nontwisted build in the Nuppin.

I realize this post is confusing given the number of times twisted and nontwisted are thrown around, haha. I'm almost forced to conclude for myself (YMMV) that twisted yields a stronger throat hit. It also yields better flavor, in my experience across the board, so I'm not excited to throw in the towel on twisted but I pretty much am about to. I don't like much throat hit, and the way dual nontwisted 26g feels to my throat is divine. (plus it tastes great, just not as good as twisted 29, in my opinion)

EDIT - the one variable I haven't considered is they are each running a different juice. Both are the same vendor and nic level, but, I'll take this into consideration too and experiment a bit further before ditching the twisted build.

I went back and re-read and yes you did in fact say it was just dual 26g.... My bad... Not sure why you are getting 2x or 3x the TH, but like I mentioned it may have to do with placement. It may seem because they look to be the same height, I am guessing it is because of the center point to which you are lining them up to the airflow, but the twisted I think is a thicker build and that will put the top of the coil higher in relation to the flow. Try lowering the twisted coils a little on the build.

I only vape "1" liquid, been that way for over 3yrs now, and it helps tremendously with different builds to different atty's. Easier to compare. I would suggest putting the same liquid in both and see if that makes a difference in the vape. It could also be a possibility that the liquid you are vaping on the twisted setup needs to be a lower nic level. Try mixing it down with a little straight PG or VG and see if that works.

I fell into the magical spell of the Odin from Russ and went full bore and acquired 5 of them in a very short period of time. They were a decent vape with certain setups in them, but the thing that put me off the most was the leaking out the AFC... Drove me nuts. Every pocket my device went into had a :censored: juice spot in it within minutes. It even leaked just sitting on the table next to me. I tried everything from coil placement to switching back to cotton, yet nothing kept them from leaking... I will say, it wasn't so much the juice as it was the condensation that would seep out of it. My theory was the relation of the negative posts to the AFC was where the problem occurred or that there was too much material between the post and the edge of the atty. The condensation just seemed to collect there and exit the AFC easily. Not sure exactly, but that is my theory. Though the Derringer also has negative posts machined into the atty, it doesn't have the same effect at all. At least that I have discovered yet and I've been vaping it for more than a month now.

I will say the atty that made me sell all 5 of my Odin's was the Mephisto. I own 2 of them and in my opinion, everyone should own at least 1 of them. It is the atty I compare everything else to. I haven't had a bad setup in either of mine. As far as a true 22mm atty goes, (imo), there is not a better one on the market today. It is very easy to build and vapes exceptionally good. I would add that I have no leaking with it either. Nothing po's me more than an atty that leaks... If I were to change anything about it, that would be smaller post holes. That is all... There has been talk by Tom to do an 18mm version of it, but I fear that will change the vape of it too much and it just won't be as good. Would I buy one? Yes I would, but with caution though... As my mother always said, "If it ain't broke, it don't need fixin'"....

Not to derail a Nuppin' thread, but +1 for the Mephisto. Super atty, and I don't mind the freakishly large post holes. It's a great balance of vapor and flavour. In the realm of 22mm atties, it's a good'n.

I've never looked at a Mephisto so I'll check it out. I love the Odin personally. Much more than the Nuppin despite the relative lack of flavor. I just like it's design. I won't be buying any more of them though, much more interested in trying new attys - Derringer, and I'll look into the Mephisto too. I've heard the name but know nothing about it.
