Tomorrow the FDA will lay out a new effort to improve the process
for approving medical devices, to keep patients safer while getting
innovative and life-saving products to market faster.

Mmmm... I wonder if E-cigarettes are on the FDA's list of innovative
and life-saving products?

Sarcasm aside... Anything to nudge the FDA in the right direction
would be welcomed.

Now to appoint a committee to decide which things are dumb.
"I think that's dumb"
"That's not dumb, you're dumb"
"you're dumb"

I can see it all now. $4 billion dollars later, they decide the half the committee members are dumb.

Seriously, Bill, thank you for the link. I continue to be hopeful, but sometimes even my overly-optimistic nature is disheartened by how simple this all would be if they just showed some common sense and how they're not willing to use the brains they were born with.

FDA and Common Sense mentioned in the same sentence

This coming from an administration that has imposed their will through regulation and not congress have trampled the will of the people and done more to kill industry than any other in history. I would not trust that any farther than I could throw Mr. Obama. Ask Archer coal and many in the oil fields how well regulation is working for them. His admin is putting them out of business, as he said he would. I am in health care, his regs not working well there either.

You are right ,the FDA does not answer to the President, they seem to answer to no one, including judges.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
The President of the United States of America
is not in the FDA's chain of command and thus
anything the President says is of little interest
to the them.

My theory of late is to watch what the other Government hand is doing....take nothing for granted. Committees have a way of compounding obvious problems and making them worse, not better.
Case in point, the 33 "committee" and Department Heads under the banner of HHS that have the administration of all of our health care in their hands, along with the generous funding insured by new IRS rules and manpower. Seven new office buildings and 300,000 new taxpayer-funded employees who write the rules imposed on us all and do our paper-work for us are the ones we cannot keep an eye on and have no recourse with.
Legislators have only opened the Pandora's Box. That's the very small part of government that can be un-elected.

I really hope we can "repeal" the building of that new city on the Hill, but I fear construction is closer to finished than just starting.

I have a question

Since the Federal Court is the only power on planet earth above
the FDA... If the FDA doesn't follow the Federal Court's rulings...
What can the Federal Court do about it (other than beg them to comply)?

The only recourse on those Departments is FUNDING DENIAL. We're in Heap Big trouble.

Well, if they had the "nads" to do so, the court could find Margaret Hamburg in contempt and jail her until the Agency complies.
