Nope that's strange, I mostly use Claptons, either kanthal or 316L, I've also used 430 round I don't notice any difference.

I get more flavor using single strand 28g wire in mine. I keep trying fancy coils but I find better flavor with simple coils.
Where are you positioning your coil?
I got ss316l Aliens on it with 3.5mm and its turned on the 3.5 6 times. I got tons of flavour!

I'm placing my coils maybe a mm from the top of the posts. Right now I have a 26ga ss316l spaced round wire, 3mm id, .550 ohms, and the flavor has certainly been better with other builds. Although this Chubby Watermelon Bubblegum is not the most flavorful of liquid. I won't be getting it again. I'm moving on to diy for a good bubblegum vape. So far everyone I've purchased has been too little bubblegum, or too little watermelon. Maybe I'm just impossible to please. lol I have noticed I keep expecting more and more the longer I vape.

I keep my coil in the center of the post holes and close to the poles also. I think it is meant to be that way??? I have also found that smaller coils work better for me.
I had a hard time with the wicking on this, as with TC you really see when the wicking isn't optimal and the wattage is dropped. For me, 3.5mm SS316L 9 wrap spaced, in height of post holes and placed where the wick-holes is matching the coil ends. Tight wick which is fluffed out to remove some density with pointy twezzers and cut at the inner base, so very short. If less long coil, then even shorter cut. The wick is just going lightly into top of the holes, but just maybe a mm down and not into the bottom. Finally I have steady stable TC/wicking now. Though, the flavor isn't anything to rave about to me personally, but I use unflavored, so don't care much and just wants a nic hit and something to inhale. 45 watts roughly here. Filing it should be done quickly and not overly done, as else slight flooding afterwards, but just for 10 pulls or so and then fine. I like it alot 
I generally try to align the airflow to the coil dimension, and the airflow on this is pretty big, hence me using bigger coils, though I believe you guys if you state smaller is better in this case I really like the draw, easy of build and filling and short-formfactor and leakproof. I have tried from 2.5mm to 3.5mm, but honestly can't remember if the smaller ID coils where better to me or not, though I remember I have never gotten as good stable wicking(TC) before. I use high-vg and take long lung-hits which makes perfect wicking tenfold important imho.
One thing i've noticed and sorry for off-topic, is dryburning SS316L makes it have an off taste to me, even though doing it very lightly as recommended. I needed to rebuilt afterwards, but then read you could just use water afterwards, or a brush, because else there's something sticking which gives it an ashy taste(after dryburning). Total noob to SS and TC here

Finally got a build in mine. Used 26g spaced kanthal 3mm, was going for .8, but as usual miss counted 6 wrap and ended up with 7, .95ohm.
Top of coil at the top of the posts. Pulled the coil back closer the the air hole, rather than right over the wick holes.
Wicked with KGD, over stuffed, then combed out the tails to the right tension. Trimmed to go through the wick holes, but not touch the bottom. The 3mm gave me just enough wick to fill the wick holes. Not sure I'd want to go smaller.
Used a drip tip with a slightly smaller bore, airflow closed more than half way.
So far I like it, good flavor for me.
Probably higher ohm than many would build, but I only run single battery mods so 25-30 watts works better for me.
So far the only con is it's draining juice quickly, but no flooding or dry hits.
I think if they eliminated the other air hole it would be better, really serves no purpose other than more air that is not near the coil.

I'm not sure though, but I started washing.I've read after dry burning to wash with dish soap & water suppose to make coils last longer
I'll run it under a little water after dry burning, but I've never used soap as well.

I was really careful with the dryburning, even though i've read conflicting opinion about how important this is with SS in our circumstances(as opposed to welding), but I really didn't like the slight off-taste just regular dryburning brought forward, so I definitely will try to clean also the next time. Kanthal which i've used for years, I never needed anything other than a quick dryburn to fix. Thanks! Personally I didn't see the great crisp taste of SS in comparison to kanthal(they where the same to me). I suspect it's more a matter of more surface-area for same resistance instead, which improves flavor obviously.

Some people do notice a difference in flavor depending on the wire metal type. Me, they all taste the same. I just use SS 316L because I prefer to run in TC, and it's flexible enough to use in power or TC. And it's as easy to work with as Kanthal.
Indeed I use it for the same reasons exactly. Yeah, maybe there's a difference and i'm just not able to pick it up that's very possible of course(kanthal vs SS316L). I've personally never tried anything other than kanthal and lately SS316L, but never titanium, ni200, ni80 and the rest.
