The pic you linked looks like a completely different model than all the other pics.
RDA Octopus by SMOKtech Rebuildable Dripper 1.7ohm - GOLD [gv-SMOKtechRDAOctopus-GOLD] - $8.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
Also the air seems to come in low from the side and up across the coil. Seems like juice would pour out unless you had a lot of wick in the bottom. Then keeping the air hole unobstructed could be a problem. I like the thumb screws for the coil. I bet a few revisions will be coming in short order. Looks like connector is sealed so no bottom feeders need apply. It does look nice though. I'm wondering more about the one in the pic you linked. I'd like to see it opened up.

The pic I linked was the octo on top of an empire mod clone. Your link does show the inside. Good point about the air holes. Ill have to see how that situation works out. I'm thinking that using eight strands would hold a considerable amount. My cotton wicks seem to soak up everything I throw at em but we will certainly have to see how well this little mollusk vapes.

I noticed they have brass posts. I thought brass and eliquid was a big no-no.

please educate me. they look brass, but how do we know for sure? also, wheres the info that brass is bad? i believe you because i see often how ss is preferred, but i thought it was more of a flavor thing rather than a health hazard.

Only if you drink the tinfoil-hat-club's bathwater.

This only depends on whether or not the brass has a lead alloy in it or not. Apparently most brass does but not all brass, which then begs the question, "Does this particular brass contain a lead alloy?"

More than likely not, China an't no fool. They're cheap but they aren't fools. They've used lead-free SS in the past, 303 and 304. It's safe to assume they're also using lead-free brass as well.

If you have any concerns, I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer of the mod you have in question of buying to see just what brass it is that is being used in that particular device if you want to feel warm and fuzzy over it.

That's why I was asking. I can't find the links, but I know that there have been threads on it. That being said many high end attys used brass as well. I will probably buy a few of these and use a lead test to be sure as I don't want to inject lead. I don't want to trust that the Chinese aren't using lead as I know there have been recent incidences of them using lead in infant toys.

I just recieved mine today from MVS,i don't think there is any chance of it leaking, the air hole in it is set in between both washers.I am going to wrap my own coil because i do not like the way this one came set up.It has eight 1mm silica wicks about 1 1/4"-1 1/2" long? I opened it up to look at the coil and trying to put the top back on was somewhat of a PITA.Either the strands would get stuck down the side,or one or two wicks would stick straight up thru the top.Mine came in at 2.3,have not checked the spare wick that comes with it yet.I would guess it is in the same ballpark range of the installed wick?

im really liking mine. excellent flavor and TH is through the roof, just how i like it.

thats cool that MVS threw in some extra wick and wire. madvapes did not throw in any extras with mine but i had a credit with them so i got the thing for a little more than what shipping costs, so i cant complain. :)

yeah, i noticed that the 8-strand setup is kind of a PITA to get back in the unit, but i found a quick trick. first, tuck the wicks into the cap without them facing out the hole, then place the cap on by twisting, allowing most of the wicks to spiral around inside the cap. most of the wicks will stay inside, but one or two may poke out the top. all you have to do is poke that last strand or two down with a pen cap or somehting of the sort, then line up your air hole.
or you could leave your drip tip on top and reduce the chance of any wicks popping up.

when i first metered mine out, it came to 1.8ohms. i figured id give the stock coil a shot before i rebuilt it and ive gotta say, its set up just fine for my liking.
i dripped 22 drops inside without a leak or a gurgle.
ive been refilling by dripping numerous amounts of drops, just to see how much it can hold. i over dripped one time and i saw a fleck of a drop come out the air hole. my guess is it holds a full ml from bone dry. when TH and vapor production drop off slightly, im refilling with about 8-12 drops.

oh, and i posted in teh gotvapes thread about the possibility of brass and was met with a poster that thought it was ludicrous that smoktech would even think about using a non-RoHS process. LOL well excuuuuse me for trying to do a little ECF research. jeez louise LOL

Yea there are ALOT of diehards on the GV's site,i just think it is nice to be able to get a cheaper ERA,or Hornet(which i do have) for a rebuildable dripper.I am getting ready to drip away on my new RDA just got done washing it off(not the wicks) just the top cap,and see how it does.
