Just bought one today , so I googled info on it and it brought me to this thread. After browsing through gotta admit you guys have scared the crap out of me!! Did I jump wayyyyyy too far getting this, seeing I'm only into my 2nd month of vaping, never touched a thing like this before?! Liking the vape so far...now just a bit worried when it comes time to work on the thing! You know, replacing the wick. Lots of jargon here that flew over my head! Getting the feeling this thing is for real pros

Hey guys, i just order one RDA. I dont have a mech i only have twist and a vamo what setup you would recomend to me? What Wick material and what wire? This will be my first RBA so im a bit unprepare

You can go two ways vamo and build a 1.5 ohm coil with 32g kanthal or wrap a dual coil build in it with 32g 1.5 - 2.0 ohm.The dual coil build will increase the juice capacity it will hold so you do not have to drip as much.If you are going to use this on your twist(which would not be advisable) i would suggest getting the wrap above 2.0 ohm's so you do not burn out the twist batt(from possible shorts) and make sure you meter the coil before putting it on the twist. If you do get a mech. you can wrap a SLR build.

This RDA is not as bad as it looks from this thread.Replacing the coils,if that is the route you are taking,is a very simple task. All you have to do is undo the screws on the posts and pull out old wick, replace with new wick and tighten the screws. If you ever decide to wrap your own coils you would save the money, from buying the pre-made coils, buy purchasing either 32awg or,30awg kanthal wire and 3mm silica.Making your own coils is something that takes some practice, but is not impossibly hard.

What wick material should i use? I like the idea of a dual coil but first i need to learn how to make my coil so single coil to me for starting, I saw at myvaporstore they have a very cheap wick but says fiberglass wick, dam that thing is safe to vape? could you please elaborate your reply a bit more, like "this wick material & size" and "this wire with 2,3,4, coils around" for get "this ohm reading" to get into a safe ohm for my vamo,

Sorry to ask too much

Sorry,i was just trying to keep the first post short as to which way for you to go.I use 3mm silica(at the moment trying to use it up) and have switched to ceramic rope.Use 3mm silica for the moment it is the thickest and like i said will hold more juice for this build and RDA.Yes the fiberglass wick is safe to vape,it is silica wick(most vendors have it listed as fiberglass).Purchase some either,or both,30AWG,32AWG kanthal wire with the 3mm silica. If you wish you can buy the pre-made replacement coils already made up.You would save money buy purchasing the Kanthal wire and silica because it will last you for a long while. If you are going with a single coil to start out with use 32awg kanthal and 3mm silica make 4-5 wraps should get you in the 1.5 - 1.8ohm coil range.

To make a dual coil build, depending on how high,or low you want to go.I use the same for this build as with a single coil.Use 3mm silica and 32awg kanthal with 4 wraps. How to make the dual coil - Cut about 3-4 inches of silica and fold it in half(it will look like two pieces together),make your first wrap as close to one end of the folded silica, then repeat this at the other end of silica.VERY IMPORTANT>make sure you cut two pieces of kanthal the SAME length.Once you have the wraps on the wick, insert one end into the posts (do not tighten screws yet),then make a loop with the wick, just fold it into a loop around your finger if this helps to do it.Hold the bottom of the loop and insert the last coil thru the posts, now tighten the screws. You should be at around .8 -.9 ohm dual coil.If you would like to get higher ohm coil, add another wrap or two to EACH coiled end. This dual coil build really holds alot of juice and reduces the amount you have to drip.

No problem anytime. You can get kanthal wire off ebay in 100ft. rolls for $8.00,and silica same place for about $36.00 for a 30ft roll of 3mm silica, cheaper the shorter the length you buy.

Thanks for the advice. Mine just started vaping crappy after a good day of using it. How about cleaning it instead of replacing the wick/coil? A dry burn? Just took it apart and cleaned the wick, dried it but the coil is black. Gonna try a dry burn 1st before switching to my premade wick/coil.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna try a clean and dry burn before changing to my premade wick/coil....its only been a day of vaping and its a lousy vape now, I'm thinking all I need is a cleaning. We'll see.

Yes you can do a dry burn, wet the silica first with plain tap water and start the burn. You will want the coils to glow red across the entire coil. When this happens you should have a clean coil at this point with no gunk on it,the coils, will basically look like they did the day you unboxed it.

Thanks T8....I did it before your post....I cleaned the wick and DRIED them....better to leave them somewhat wet?? The coil did show red all across....the "back" of it however stayed blackish.

It is gunked up on that part of the coil(that happens when a coil has been used alot)you might get one or two more dry burns(possibly more) before the flavor starts dropping off and time for a new coil.

I used to use a few drops of hydrogen peroxide when cleaning silica wicks and coil, as it does a great job of freshening them up. (H2O2 turns to water under heat.) My method was to pulse the coil a few times to loosen the gunk, wash with a few drops of H2O2 then water, let dry overnight, then pulse a few more times to finish drying.
