need vet help. i built my first wire today and have a few questions.
i vaped the included ready wire for 2 weeks and loved it.
it was time to change though.
i used the Resistance Wire Nichrome AWG 36 from COV
and the 30gauge 999 silver that someone here recommended for the nr part.(COV was out of all NR wire)

made it up (1 3/4 inch of resistance in the middle when complete) and it was hitting light on a 18350 battery . i know nothing about stacking batteries and ohms etc. but i remembered some one saying that stacking batteries doubles the " insert proper term here"
i tryed it 2 18350's
now it vapes like a friggin' chimney, crazy vapor !
i dont dislike it but i miss the premade setup.

what is the wire (r and nr )type and length to replicate the ready made?
and why am i getting so much vapor from the set up i have now with 2 batteries and very little with one?
i will buy 10 ready mades soon as they are back in stock.

i really have read this entire thread ( and all of the other gg ones ) and researched it in the wiki. im just struggling and need a quick answer.

OK, I trust the new wick is safe, but it's hard to get. I even put a notify me on COV, but never got it, and now they are sold out again. Any place else I can get the wick from?

It's half the diameter of COVs so you'll need to double up but it should work until COV gets restocked.

I am putting the positive side down the ceramic side, and the negative part on the metal side. However the mentioning of O rings is new. Aside from the black plastic disk under the nut you screw the center post into from the top of the ceramic and housing, and the O ring that is at the end of the center pin is the only things that came with it. I have tried it on my lavatube, and it fires fine. However, I had a incident where I was using a DID repairable atomizer on my old lavatube, and the DID was not working on my provari and SVR, because they both detected a short. Long story short, my display on my lavatube melted. After that happened to me, I knew I had to test my devices on my provari before I tried them out on any other mod, to cautiously protect my well being. Lol.

So, new day to try to get the oddy to work for me again. To give you guys an update on my last attempted coil, I was able to wrap a 3.6 ohm coil using 32 Kanthal A1. Measured it out before I inserted the housing, 3.6 ohms. Inserted it into the housing, measured it again before I wrapped the positive side on the center post, 3.6ohms. Wrapped it around the center post, and screwed it into the oddy 510 base, and that's where it goes wrong, measured at .4 ohms.Mind you, I do not put on the mouthpiece, and it reads this.

I'm going to keep trying today, and see if I can get her purring.

Have you tried putting it together without a coil and see what reading you get?

If you don't have the oring inside the ceramic the threaded post sticks up taller then the round nut. It could be touching your coil on the bottom side of the wick.

36g at 1-3/4" is giving you a higher resistance coil than the premade one. Thats why you weren't getting much vape with single battery. Try making one with 1-1/4" or 1" Without a meter you'll just have to try different lengths to see which you like best. You might even go shorter than 1" another way to lower resistance is to use thicker wire. 32g will give lower resistance than same length of 36g.

I'm not a vet but the reason you're not getting a good vape with one battery is because your resistance on your coil is too high for your voltage output. When you double batteries you double output which is why it vapes your high resistance coil better. The higher the resistance coils need more voltage for a good vape. Get yourself a meter if you don't have one. That way you don't have to guess what resistance coil your making based on the length of your wire.
Thinner wire has more resistance and resistance increases as the length of the wire increases so if you want lower resistance, you shorten your wire. Hope that helps.

Try shortening the wick a bit. I typically run 3mm wick in my V1 and if the wick sits too deep into the base you'll get the dry hit / gurgling syndrome.

I actually just began cutting my wicks much shorter than I have been typically doing and I haven't had a dry hit or flooding issue under adequate juice flow.

Give it a shot.... worx 4 me...

Well, you are to blame.. You created an atomizer that gave me TH even without any nicotine, LOL

Seriously, it is mostly because of the ODY that I was able to give up nicotine a couple of months ago and now stop vaping all together. You know that I've been shameless in telling the whole world how much I loved my ODY over and over and over... And that was for a reason.

You see, the first day I received my ODY I realized that I no longer needed to vape 24mg to feel satisfied. In fact, it was suddenly too much. And within a short period of time I was able to cut my nic down by half. That was after nearly 2 yrs. of vaping 24mg with MANY different types of atomizers and not being able to successfully lower the dosage. There is something about it, it just hits harder than anything else I ever tried using the same juice, batteries, voltage, PV...

Another thing... For the first time, I didn't have to constantly think about details of vaping and pay attention to vaping every minute of the day. No fiddling, dripping, worrying about adding too much or not enough juice, punching holes in the carto, wondering if my carto tank is feeding it too much or not enough, flooding or dry hits, and on and on and on... I simply filled my ODY in the morning, opened the juice control to the right level and I didn't have to think about anything or worry about anything until about 5pm in the afternoon when it was simply time for a quick refill. Same consistent performance hit after hit all day long... And that's it, it made my life simple and vaping more enjoyable than I could previously imagine. I could spend my whole day taking care of life rather than thinking about details of every drag... Once I gradually worked my way down to 0% nic and didn't need to vape for physical reasons anymore, the next logical step for me was to just give it up all together and work on my mental addiction aspects of vaping (which is pretty tough right now, I must say).

So, I want to thank you for creating this amazing, simple to use product, and for always making me feel welcomed here! I appreciate what you do

And btw, I'm not gone... I'm still lurking I may be done with vaping but I'll never be done with friendships I received in this place!

My Ody just started this issue as well. Funny, I just made a new wick/coil. I'll look into the wick sides being too long. How far down the sides should they go anyway? I've been cutting them off right around the bottom o-ring. Worked fine for a week at that length. I was starting to scratch my head because it was flooding with the liquid control totally closed. Figured the bottom o-ring was to blame because I have the contact pin a little high to remove the airy hits on my ProVari. I'll check both.

Thank you Imeo. I love my Ody. When I used other mods, to include my UFS, with Chinese atomizers I would feel a little tightness in my throat/chest. I am assuming that was due to some kind of allergy (I am highly allergic to just about everything). I get none of that with my Ody. It tastes and feels cleaner and smoother than anything that I have ever vaped.
