When I say resistance, I mean .1 ohm every 6mm of silver. My kanthal at .9" meters out to .6 ohm, then add the needed silver and I am at .9 ohm.

Very strange...glad I got a multimeter, but confused as to why my silver has that much resistance.
Something is not right with your NR wire material or your connection. .999 silver wire at that length has .001 ohm resistance and is unreadable using a multitester.

2 things first are you subtracting the internal resistance of the multimeter? Also if so it is possible you got silver plated wire.

Oh I know--that is what is puzzling me.

Yep. It isn't plated--I took a good look under high magnification and it is one material only. I'm pretty sure it isn't the .999 silver as was advertised. I did buy it from a jewelry website.

I'm just going to look for a 32g nickel wire supplier not on eBay--there has to be one out there for a bulk (spool) order. I might check into COV...it's been a while since I've checked there.

wires.co.uk : Bare Nickel Wire
Check out the .236 mm bare nickel wire. Granted I havn't looked in a while but last time I tried to find bare nickel wire stateside I had no luck I ordered 50grams of the nickel wire and split it up with 2 or 3 others from the forum and still ended up with enough to last a couple years. As a matter of fact I have been using it for about a year and a half now and still have plenty left.

Awesome...In my quest to get bulk NR wire, I could only find jewelry wire stateside. Int'l shipping would be worth it to get a real/consistant result.

Try using your multitester on the silver wire alone. See if you still have resistance. You need to narrow down what is wrong before ordering more NR wire.

So I made a new coil last night and for some reason it just tastes burnt. I have the liquid control all the way open and still burnt. The coil read out at 1.2 ohms and I'm just running a 18650 in it. I think mabe I have the coil wrapped to tight or something? I ran a dual 3mm wick. What do you guys think?

Thanks guys. I figured that was the problem. When I get home from work I'm going to make a new coil. I've been making coils for a while now and never had this problem before. I also want to pick up a multimeter so I can ohm out my coil. I kind of just eyeball it currently.

I had the same issue over the weekend Billy and it was Yankee who suggested the paper clip to me and it worked perfectly.

Yep, every vaper needs a multimeter. ;)

So I made a new coil and its working great. The only problem is it came out at 2 ohms so I need the kick to make it satisfying. No biggie. I def need a multimeter like you suggested though.

Billy, you ever try a one legged wire? For the V2 versions, it's great. When I accidentally coiled a 1.7 one time, I removed the inner rebuildable, lifted the ground side and did one coil, and layed it back down. One legged....easy take away adjustments.

So you leave the wire just in the ceramic side?

Exactly. One NR twisted with a slightly longer R. NR in ceramic. Wrap as usual. As soon as R hits metal channel, it grounds, but still runs down metal channel. Another benefit is one less joint. Only way I wrap mine. Obviously wont work on iAtty or V1.

Does the R wire have to hit the channel or can it just end on the wick?
