If you don't want to use any solvents to clean out the Odysseus to get rid of that grandfather's aftershave taste, use milk. It was mentioned in this and in the german forum's thread.
I tried it yesterday and it worked great.
I took a cup of milk (3.5% fat), heated it in the microwave up till hot, disassembled Odysseus, removed both large o-rings and let it sit in the milk for half an hour. Dumped the cup through a sieve, rinsed with cold water and dried it with some paper towel.
After reassembly and 'a quick toot' the bad taste was finally gone and the taste of my favorite liquid is just good as never before.
2 ohms on a provari at 3.7 - 4V, stock wires and wick.
No leakage, only a slight gurgle after refill. I think it's the air pressure when you tighten up the top ring which forces liquid up the threads or down to the base.

But I need the larger tank, since the 2.5ml won't last long for me.

I love you, Para, but I'm wondering if I should sell the thing right now, I don't have time for all this screwing around........:(

Yes, it takes some work to mod the ceramic and prep the 116 wick, but it's like courting a fine woman.....the resulting sex is worth the effort.

I agree Para!

Ripple,
Just take a little bit off at a time, vape on one of your UFS's, or iAtty while ya work on it. It took me 3 coils to get mine running like a Rolex... it's got the smooooooooth motion, no ticking

Guys, so the stock wick of the odyseus is not good? I don't understand.
I don't know how the awesomeness I am getting can possibly get better, but this is my first rebuild-able atty, so it's the only wick I've ever used. I think I'll just pretend it's all hype and stick to the stuff it shipped with...for now.

I'm using the stock wick & wires and it's vaping better than than any atomizer, carto, or e2 I've ever used (more vapor, throat hit, consistency).

I'm a noob to Ody (didn't have an iatty), so I haven't experimented with anything else. Right now I'm not looking for ways to change anything. With Hrathor there. I had high expectations (or I wouldn't have bought it) and it's functioning better than I expected. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the ceramic until I had a backup in hand.

.....making note. When I was a kid (back before fire) my Grandmother used to say that about milk and I totally forgot about it.

Nah, like I said, I couldn't mod another ceramic for the Iatty, Rick, so its been sitting in a drawer for a month, the throat on the standard ones preclude the use of the nextel wick which I heavily preferred, that's why I sold my extra one, it ticked me off that I couldn't make the wick/coil setup that rocked with the limitation of the ceramic cup. I know I can build coils, I got good at it, I was sad when the Iatty went down. No problem, GG boys, I have a drawer for it and the Iatty and they will sit there until I feel like fiddling with them.......but I have to be honest, not sure if I will, especially since I pound through 12-15 ml a day and a 2 mil tank is a carto to me, I run 2 super-UFSs (10 ml) and 2 UFSs!!! I probably shouldn't have bought it in the first place.......live and learn, c'est la vie'!:)

If/when I try I'll get back to y'all!!!:thumb:

ripple, can you please tell me your problem with Odysseus? I got lost after 3 days that I was out of forum and I dont know what is happening. :)

Buddy, don't even sweat it -- I don't have the time for it right now and if I have to mod anything for it I'm S.O.L., that's just the way it is, I don't do the dremel well.........I may try it soon, I'll withhold all further comment, I should never come out of the cave!:) I rarely come into the subforum anymore since I have little to add like I used to.........:(

Ripple don't feel bad. Im not too good with a drimel nor had a rebuildable before and I too am having problems but I think its more of ne rushing and not knowing ohms to wire gauge to what not. I haven't had the time to really sit down and learn it all but I'm off for a few days after today and I'm hoping that I can some what master the coil making. I plan to use the stock wire and wick but do have some ss nr wire on its way and also hunting down some kanthal a1 to try

Hey Imeo, thanks already for you response, its very nice if the actual builder answers your questions :) And of course i hope you had some good holiday-days and im already wishing you a good new year ;-)

But what i couldn solve yet is the thing with the taste, its as i said like a 510 running almost dry, when i drip its better so i guess there isnt enough liquid there but i fully opened the LC and i varied juice until i got about 40%Water in my VG Juice but still the same problem. Its already better now because im using 2xGlass fibre (was difficult to put it in there, but it was worth it)

hehhe few kilometers of wick? No Problem, give me the link i gonna order for my lifetime :D its sure that i wont give my ody away ;-) Just kidding, but thought it was from wickstore, actually its the best wick ive ever used, before it was the wick from bulli-smoker that was the best to me but the ody-wick is way way better has way way less glass fibre taste.

Anyone already tried some kind of ESS/Wickless mods? I know about the aborted try of imeo with the wickless method.

By the way, i have a quite provisorial not perfect video on how to rebuild the atomizer of the odysseus. Its actually in 1080p. Its not very good, theres a problem with the video and audio but anyways i allowed everyone to see it because i think it could help people who just received their Odysseus (and because i got a lot of PM.. Usually i dont upload a video if im not happy with it..)

Link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NfIIrY_soY
I
ts german and there are still 2 parts missing but anyway i think it could help ;-)

Greetings from Germany!

IMHO the Ody doesn't need to be modded to work perfect. Received mine last Thursday and today I'm still on my first coil at 1.9Ohms vaping like a champ with the supplied materials. I don't even need to open the LC, the only burn taste is when the tank is completed dry. I haven't touch my main vape since the Ody, the iAtty, even when I received the SS mouthpiece for the iAtty the same day the Ody arrived.

Above the wick supplied with the Ody I dont know if is the same CE2 wick I received from CoV but to me looks like is the same and is working great. I dont even wash or burn the wick. I like the Nextel wick but I recognize that the Ody is not intended or wasn't even created to use the Nextel as wicking material, same with the iAtty. To me works like it is and at this early point I dont see any better than that. Im more than happy with what i have right know, worthy every penny paid for it.

Modding the Ody or any other ready device is a Play at your own risk situation and is not an Ody, Imeo or GG seller fault.

The modding of already great device is symptomatic of what got nearly everyone here in the first place. And then, of course, there are degrees to that motivation, as illustrated by early modifiers. :) I agree - as does everyone thus far that I've seen - with you that the Ody as-is fantastic and I wouldn't read the modding as anything other than exuberance. I don't think it's a disservice to the device; there are just always some who want to see if they can make it even better. That's not me, but I'm not a gpu overclocker, either - not because I'm afraid to do it but because I like it just the way it is.

Ripple, the Ody doesn't need to be modded. Para and a very few others have done so because they wanted to use the thicker wick, but the vast majority of us are using it very happily without any modifications at all, with the wick that came with it.

I don't think they intended to give the impression that it absolutely has to be done, but I'm afraid that some potential buyers may get confused, and turned off at the prospect of the Ody, thinking that its not ready to use out of the box. I might not buy it if I thought I had to take a dremel to it in order to use it. IMHO, the uber-thorough cleaning is all that needs to be done right out of the box. Then just get the hang of the atty build and vape happily ever after
