I've not seen it posted , but is a 1.1 - 1.2 ohm coil ok ?

Made from kanthal 32awg and sterling silver wire, soft condition, 30gauge (0.25mm).

It's vaping nice. :)

Standard set-up in Odysseus.

Question is, is it good for you? I tend to like 1.5-2.0 oHm coils but that's me. I'm guessing you're using that at 3.7v? If the heat, throat hit and vapor are what you like, it's good for you.

I only wonder if the soft silver NR wires will break due to the heat from a low oHm coil. Most others use "half-hard" silver wire for the NR wire. It's a little stiffer but still easy to work with and not as prone to break. YMMV

Vaporologist,

You can use the information I provided in this post http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/252628-resistant-wire-how-many-centimer-how-many-ohm.html#post4906418 to determine how long of an "R" wire you need inbetween the 2x "NR" wires to get a 1.7 ohm coil

Thanks Z! That is great info even though I use a DMM to determine the right length for the R wire. I was just curious what the coil actually looks like (how many wraps) with this wire and resistance and double wick.

I used these exact same components (R/NR) last week and made a 1.3 ohm coil and ran it with AW 18490 IMR batts. Incredible TH! I made another coil a little bit later at 1.5 ohm and I think I like it better even though I'm a "reckless TH" kind of guy. Your battery will drain noticeably faster when you start getting into really low ohms (1.3 or below).

Made my prettiest atty yet last night. Was very proud, showed the wife like a guy who just built a ship-in-a-bottle. Sat there and stared at it for a while. Coils all nicely spaced, not too far not too close, wick not going all over the place...

The act of building these things is addictive.

Only problem is, after I got the lovely pics below, I found that it doesn't vape well at all. I'm back again, to the either-flooding-or-dry-taste problem... My last one was very messy, not very nice to look at, but wicked like a CHAMP and didn't flood easily at all... but was just a little weak, coming in at 2.6 ohms at 3.7, so I thought I could improve with a lower res. And now, after 8 builds, it looks like I've only got enough NR wire for one more build. (scared) ugh

Eh... enjoy the pics anyway!

The 0.2 Kanthal heats up to slow with the stealth. You have to press the button to long before you get enough steam.

The original wire the came with the Ody is 0.15 NiChrome wire.

I also was a big fan of 0,2 kanthal on genesis and bulli a2, then i switched to 0,16 on the a2 and was happy, i started with 0,16 on the ody but tried the 0,2 then and im very happy with the 0,2. Had also a coil running on 1,7Ohm (0,2 Kanthal) and damn i could pull hard enough on the mouthpiece :D I took breaths like doing sport and got big big clouds of vapor :D So i cant tell that it takes too long to heat up.

..but dont get over 2 Ohm with only 1xCe2, theres too much wire that heats up, i couldnt get a good taste, but 2 Ohm with 2xCE2 is simply amazing :)

And wow, those pictures of the coil are awesome, so beautiful!

Greetings

exellent pics BP:)

The dry taste is because you dont screw tight the wire on the wick. So when you have dry taste you open the mouthpieces more and the result is flooding.

Certainly could be it. I actually started wondering if that might be the case this morning - just from looking at these pics. The wick looked nice and tight to the naked eye last night, but then looking at these macro shots, I noticed how loose it really was. I've been using the thinnest needle my wife had, and cranking the wire as tight as I could, but perhaps I'm just losing too much volume when I remove the needle.

make sure that the wire running down the side channels of the ceramic is tucked under the wick to ensure it can never make contact with threads of the mouthpiece or the top ring.
Indeed - the one you can see in these shots is the ground, which I'm never quite as careful about burying. On the opposite side is the wire that connects down at the base. That one is completely buried under the wick.

That explains it, try not using the needle and just wrap it around the wick.
