Theres a program called mobipocket reader that allows you to read the same mobi file on your pc and i think they also have a store.

i know a place for a huge scifi fantasy torrent has over 20k books most scanned in or dedrm'd, if thats what you read and are interested pm me. Its amazing after a little searching the amount of ebooks that are out there.

I love my kindle2! Got it in Feb. and it's been my constant companion since!
They aren't backlit to reduce eyestrain, so you have to have an exterior light source, just like a regular book. Check out 4shared.com for free books!
Also, MK for your audiobooks, check out audible.com. I pay like $22 a month and get two books a month for that rate. You can play them on your ipod! It automatically loads them into itunes for ya!

I finally figure out , how to change my screen saver pics. I now have family pictures on my kindle. When the screen saver comes on my family pics arrive. This is really neat.

What a great idea..How did you do that?..are they in color too?

Got a Sony PRS-600 for Christmas, had considered the Kindle and the Nook prior to purchase. Decided against the Kindle when the EFF came down on the Kindle and the level of monitoring that Amazon does on reading habits. And the Nook / Barns and Noble decided to go with a proprietary DRM for their books. I also needed a device that could Nativity read both PDF's and RFT files. So far I have been very happy with the Sony.

I started reading ebooks back in the late 90's on my Palm III's tiny reflective screen, to the point of using OCR to convert my favorite books to electronic format.

MobileRead is a great resource for information on anything related to ebooks. They also have a very large repository of public domain and open source books available in a variety of formats.

MobileRead Wiki - E-book Reader Matrix

Calibre has been mentioned earlier, it will convert between most (NON DRM) format ebooks and transfer them to almost any device.

calibre - E-book management

I use a Mac, and have been using Calibre for over a year now to sync Stanza on my iPhone, wirelessly.

Vaping and ebooks, a great combination!

I <3 my Kindle2... I got this booklight:

Amazon.com: M-Edge e-Luminator2 Kindle Booklight (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle): Kindle Store

That fits in this case:

Amazon.com: M-Edge e-Luminator2 Kindle Booklight (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle): Kindle Store

The "bar" fits in a pocket on the back of the case and is repositionable over the Kindle. I have to download the new King book, but I just downloaded the Sookie Stackhouse series (8 books...the True Blood HBO series is based on them.) I can just switch back and forth, right? ;)
