Pugzley, I forgot to say that the SK book is available on preorder for 7.99.
You get it on Dec.24. It is my gift to myself Lol.

Cool! And not bad for 1,000 pages! Goodness, I hope it's good. I'm gifting myself that book, too. LOL That should keep us busy for a long time, equal to about 3 regular sized novels.

Pugzley & Rejoice..
just downloaded the Calibre but I see I have to have ebooks in my computer first to use it..:confused:I thought it was a program for downloading books not just organization or conversion.

For Kindle Amazon books ..is it better to just download it straight to the Kindle or the PC first and then use Calibre to send it to the Kindle?

I haven't even chosen a book yet to try as got lost with all this multitasking!8-o

There are tons of sites where you can find free ebooks. Calibre can also take RSS feeds and package them up as a magazine to send to your kindle. So, its easy to find books to put into it.

If you are buying it from Amazon, might just as well have them send it to the kindle. You can always save it off the kindle to your hard drive and add it to Calibre for storage and organization.

Mary Kay, be sure you get at least a 6" screen on your device, at least that is what I wanted to be sure of. Some of the Sony's are 5" I think, the cheaper versions. An inch is a lot when there are only a few.

I've been reading on my Kindle all day today and no eye strain, easy to read and I'm really loving this thing. :) Really pleased with this model.

Still have to buy that cover.

lol. Im new here and was checking out the Vk, and then came across this thread. Ive had my kindle2 since last april and as an avid reader its the best thing since sliced bread.

You can find free books out there and also depending on what you read. I know there are torrents of books in pdf's etc. out there. Theres a program out there called calibre that allows you to take a book in one format and convert it to the format your reader accepts. I always convert from PDF to a mobi file and the kindle reads it just fine but it will also convert to LRF for the sony's.

Glad your enjoying your new kindle :) A PV is my xmas present i just gotta find the one thats "right". :p
