Leaford, PLEASE dont go into anaphalxis!!!!!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure Addy was referring to me having to bite my tongue to swallow my responses.
I know you mean well, and I really really appreciate the sentiment, but naturopathy is as false as Qi.
You realize that the entire "nutritional supplement" industry is unregulated and unproven, and that every actual scientific study done on them has failed to prove any effectiveness. If it really worked, it would be EASY to prove it.
Doctors are NOT scientists, and generally do a poor job of scientific research. And anytime you see a freaking laundry list of conditions that one type of "suppliment" is supposed to cure, you should realize you're being sold BS.
Look at your friends claims:
"Scientific research has demonstrated that most diseases that plague modern man are caused by diet-induced chronic inflammation."
That's just plain false. Scientific research has given us REAL understanding of the causes of diseases, and they are things like viruses, bacteria, fungus and other infections; biochemical imbalances, genetic mutations or damage, organ damage or failure, etc. Yes, malnutrition or just poor diet certainly does cause SOME disease, but MOST? That's a totally false claim.
And what's the "modern man" bit supposed to mean? Virtually NO diseases or conditions are unique to modern man, they've been with us since time immemorial. He's just playing the "toxic modern world" BS.
"Here is a partial list of conditions that are driven by diet-induced inflammation: aches and pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, acne, aging, syndrome X, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, stroke, Alzhemier’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, psoriasis, eczema, and multiple sclerosis."
Come on! Really? Acne? Eczema? DIABETES? Cancer? Parkinsons? MS? Pure bull. No one cause would lead to all those different and wildly varied conditions. You've got neurological conditions, genetic conditions, freaking skin conditions for crying out loud!
And no one treatment of ANY kind could possible cure them all. Not to mentions that REAL scientific research has already been done on all of them, and we KNOW what REALLY causes most of them. And it's not diet.
The acne and diabetes are about the only ones on that list that COULD be caused by diet, but even there they have absolutely NO relation to inflammation, which is his claim.
Bad or insufficient diets hurt your body, and a better diet will help your body recover from a nutritional deficit, that much is 100% true. But the only condition that better nutrition will actually cure is malnutrition.
The thing to remember about any kind of alternative medicine is that if it really worked, it would just be called medicine.

ANd if it did work, that fact would be very, VERY easy to prove.
Again, I don't mean this to sound as if I'm going off on YOU, CTJ. I really, really appreciate the thought behind your suggestion.

And I don't mean to sound condescending, if I'm coming across that way, please chalk it up to my poor social skills, and the fact that alt-med silliness is one of my hot-buttons.
But I will stick to actual science and evidence based medicine, thanks.
