So far nothing but love from all the posters which is a great sign. I came sooooooooo close to pulling the trigger then backed off and ordered my usual 2 1.5Ω Cisco 510s. Maybe the next batch.
First of all, the product demonstration in the following video is the reason why the concept of the HH.357 atty initially appealed to me. My vaping habits have evolved over the past year and a half. While I used to find pleasure in talking long, flavorful drags with penstyle atties, I've grown to find more satisfaction vaping with 306 atties which offer greater TH while taking shorter drags, even if at the slight expense of flavor. The HH.357 appeared like it could fit my current vaping arsenal for my 3.7V needs, so I gave it a shot.
Well, my initial impression after using it for about the first hour on Monday afternoon was not so stellar. The atty was not bad but it was certainly not as great as I hoped it would be, especially considering its current price tag. The vapor production was just OK even with four-second drags, the TH was pretty mild even with a fully charged AW 18650 2600mah battery, and the flavor was so so. It felt like this atty wanted to give more but just couldn't. Since many atties require even a full day to break in, I kept on using it in hopes of noticing some improvement eventually.
By the late afternoon, this atty started developing a rather pleasing personality. Vapor production increase was significant as was the TH but the flavor still had a certain undertone which I didn't care for. By the late evening, after a little over 3ml of juice, the vapor production seemed to hit the full throttle. TH became pretty solid but not as "reckless" as I prefer. After blowing it out in the morning and repriming it, I kept on using this atty exclusively all day yesterday (Tue) and it really kept on improving more and more throughout the day.
I believe that by today it's operating at or close to it's maximum potential and I'm very pleased with what it has to offer. Vapor production is pretty insane even with very short drags, TH is fantastic with fully charged batteries down to about 3.9V unloaded, and after about 11ml of juice the flavor is just awesome and pure. That initial "weird" flavor undertone has simply disappeared. Maybe the atty just needed to cycle through enough juice, I don't know... Bottom line is that this atty is rocking my world on a 3.7V MOD right now and I'm very impressed!
So, the million dollar question is whether the HH.357 atty is worth $22 or not. I don't know if I have the answer to that question yet, I believe that only time will tell. Here are at least my thoughts. This atty has such a beautiful draw, the best draw from any atty I've ever tried, and I've tried a few. The draw is simply perfect and I don't think it could be any better. Many atties, especially 510s, stiffen up after a few weeks and the draw becomes tight. If this atty still has the same draw three or more months from now, well, that's worth something IMO. If this atty needs to be replaced in 4-6 weeks from now due to a dramatic drop in performance, I will choose to discontinue using it. But if it ends up providing three or more months of solid consistent performance that I'm getting from it right now, I will be very happy about my decision for purchasing it.
It is important to understand that there is a slight learning curve even for experienced vapers. While with regular 510 and 306 atties the gurgle sound usually indicates a flooded or semi-flooded atty, that same initial gurgle sound from the HH atty actually lets you know that you have added a proper amount of juice in the atty, as stated by Hanna. No split-second gurgle pretty much guarantees a dry hit. Now that I got used to it, I think it's a nice feature for those of us who can be forgetful at times.
The reason for this post is not to suggest to anyone to try or not to try this atty. I simply wanted to share my experience for anyone who is about to step into the HH world and shares similar vaping habits as I do. I really suggest following Hanna's directions and having patience to learn how to use this atty properly in order to fully enjoy its benefits. Thanks.
ok got 2 of these yesterday. used it for a couple of hours last night and pretty much all morning today. Mine only crackled and popped for the first few times then went into smooth mode. so far i am extremely impressed with its performance. Flavor and TH are fantastic and the vapor even exceeds as it appears to me the LR306. as others have stated it does go thru alot of juice. i guess the only question will be longevity. if i can get a good 4-6 months out of this its definately worth the price. going to use it for a bit and then make a video on it. in conclusion for now its #winning!
in your video when you primed it with 6 drops, you got a constant gurgle, everytime you pulled, it gurgled. i find that it's only gurgling on the first pull, then won't gurgle anymore when i pull on it. so i kept dropping 2 drops, same thing, another 2 drops same thing. then i think i flooded it because it started leaking.
am i supposed to get a gurgle everytime i pull? because i'm not getting that
and when is the vapor production supposed to pick up? i'm literally not getting anything near the vapor you guys are.. and i've been using this for 2 days now.. not the whole day but at least 5 full hours into it
I'm sure Hanna will chime in but from my experience, the gurgle happens for a split second at the beginning of every pull, with enough liquid in the atty. You don't want it to gurgle for the duration of the whole pull or drag since the only way that could happen imo is if the atty is flooded. Do you get a split-second gurgle when you cold-pull without pressing the button? If so, you have added enough liquid to vape away...
Three things that could get in the way of maximum vapor production:
1. Broken seal by the center post being pushed up too much
2. Too much liquid, flooded atty
3. Not enough liquid, dry atty
Could any of these be relevant to your situation?
so are you getting a gurgle just on the first dry pull and none of the rest? or are you getting gurgles on all the dry pulls like in HH's video?
It depends on the volume of juice in the atty. When it's running semi-dry, I will get a quick gurgle on the first pull and won't get another one unless I let it rest for a couple of seconds. But when I add two or three drops, I get the gurgle/crackle in the beginning of every consecutive pull.
ah k thx for the info, i'm definitely not getting the gurgles in the consecutive pulls no matter what... HH is this the sign of a broken seal?
hey guys, going to reiterate something i stated previously which I confirmed with the H-Bomb; on some juices.. for me which is Pink Spot.. the atomizer doesn't perform particularly well. leaks and spitting juice in the mouth and crappy vapor
H-Bomb told me that this happens with juice that's particularly high in flavoring and water... and the water causes the coil to cool and will diminish the vapor. so to fix that you have to add some VG
so all the frustration in my previous posts have been because of this...NOW that i've been using a different juice.. it's working very very well.
thx to the H-Bomb for the support
Hey Hanna and Cisco, very interested in trying out this atomizer with a GG UFS. The UFS pulls a majority of it's liquid through the two holes on the top of the 510 thread and into the atomizer via suction, the rest through the center post. do you know if the open post version will include the side air holes just above the 510 threading?
