Hey guys, I just grabbed a VS rDNA 40.

I like the fact that I dont have to lug a charger around all day and can use the usb port.
Are there any concerns with charging via the usb port versus an intellicharger?
Also can my Li-Mn VTC4's be charged like my Li-Ion cell phone battery (keeping between 20-80%, not having to discharge fully or charge fully)?

I'm also looking to get onto my Nickel wire game, if there are recommended vendors for the Nickel wire can you share those with me.

Congrats! Mine should be here tomorrow.

You should have no issues charging via usb. Li-Mn doesn't have memory effects so you can top off whenever you want. I would recommend a full charge/discharge cycle at least 2-3 times if the battery is new though.

I bought my Ni200 wire from Lightning Vapes. They sell on Amazon and eBay as well as their own site but you can find it cheaper on the first 2.

What is that you are wrapping on, on the rose build? Very interesting. Damn, I really need to order a rose v2!

Nothing right now, because I was stupid enough to fry my Vapor Flask V2.5 DNA40. LOL and that was my only DNA40 device.

But I have another Rose V2 that I vape on a Mech:

AMD, can you tell if there's room for a fuse in there? No way I'm buying one if it cant be idiot-proofed....have I mentioned that I love Bourbon?

Let's wait until Vapor Flask refuses to fix mine under warranty and I'll open it to fix it myself.

Then we'll se if there is enough room for a fuse or a diode...

AMD,

I have seen the word "Stupid" bandied about over your regretful accident. I'll bet that if everyone that has done the exact same thing posted their similar mistake in this thread you wouldn't be able to get a word in edgewise.

It is not like there is a big RED band or ARROW pointing the way to correctly insert the battery. I won't even get into the fact that a $300 dollar MOD doesn't have the same protection against reverse battery protection that most of my $50 dollar modes do.

Ditto... I've done much worse than reversing a parallel battery setup which quite actually is easy to make the mistake because we all are used to serial setups in most electronics or toys. It's too easy to forget and put one battery upside down.

Just think how many fried their DNA 30 devices which used only one battery even after knowing that there was no protection. Think most of the big reviewers have admitted to doing this themselves. To the two people that feel the need to attack another member for an unfortunate MISTAKE I would like to supersize my order next time I am at your window. I have a feeling online is the only time you can call someone stupid.

Hold on a second, is this true? I don't think so.

Without digging out all the specs on the various mods I own I did dig this one out for the $59 Tesla:

"The Tesla also features reverse battery installation protection, short circuit protection",

"The Vamo V5.0 8: Reverse battery protection keeps circuit safe if the battery is installed backward."

I can go digging more if you need more but it is kind of a PITA.

PS - The bolded text is quotes from unit spec sheets.

wow sorry to hear about the Flask AMD.

I've got to be the MOST forgetful person this side of my street but knock on wood, and I'm sure if I say that I have not forgotten to put the batts in correctly I'd jinx it, so i won't.

I did something stupid; just before the dna40 came out I loaded up on regulated high wattage box mods... 2 Raptor120's, a Ranger, Sig100.
I sold 2 Reo's but couldn't move the Raptors.

Next time get a XPV...

Ok, here is a question. My VS rDNA 40, that I'm pretty sure needs to go back, never prompts me if I change atty's. It will change resistance readings and eventually go out of TP mode to reading voltage. Glitchy?? I tried the max watts deal and it glitched once but hasn't since......

Don't know if this is true for everyone, but is true for me:

Whenever I change attys I make sure to press the fire button before screwing down the "new atty". IOW, I force a recheck. Since two of my attys are very nearly identical in resistance, I sometimes do not get the "New, Same" pop up.

Again, for me pressing the fire button is SOP...

Is it working?

I would wait a couple of weeks if it still works. The v3 boards just started shipping late last week so chances of getting another glitched board is there. Hopefully, VS will start putting the v3 boards in to replace the glitchy boards in the next couple of weeks.

And of course USPS won't deliver my rDNA early. Still sitting at the hub.

Tried that and still no prompt

KTM, its working for I guess the most part and have emailed VS with my issues, I only got the standard form email response saying they will look into it. If I don't get the response I need in a couple days I'll probably call and get the lowdown!!

I would say this is the best review of the DNA40 and it features and when you will see certain messages and how the board works. Though if you have a solid nickel build that you know the legs are tight etc then it sounds like you have one of the bad boards.
