My complaint is how much they get marked up, not the Provape price.
I have bought some very expensive toys, like the Samsung 12" Note when it came out, for full price. It's rare, but if I really like a product, I'll do it.
But when the standard markup is 2 to 3 TIMES the MSRP, no. I'll wait or make do with something else. I'm the same way with tickets to events and really appreciate it when limited availability things are doled out by lot, or at least partially by lot, so that I have a chance.
Maybe have a drawing for limited number of factory sold units for those of us who aren't willing to pay scalper prices? Anything to prevent price gouging. A 'factory store' where say a certain number are available per week, one per customer, while the B&M sales are going on. Particularly if only prior customers can get in on it. Do a drawing on MyRewards numbers, for example. Customers who get picked can order one at MSRP or pass on their pick if they don't want to
buy one (or have already bought one).
Because with it being B&M only, if nothing is done, the prices are going to be astronomical. Maybe the B&M might only be able to mark it up 2 or 3 times recommended, but do you really think people aren't going to buy them and then sell them for 5-10 times what they paid for them? Not to mention the fact I bet NO B&M is going to be able to keep any stock. The first person in the door is going to buy all available stock and then flip them. There's just too much potential profit margin there.
The dragon was one thing. It was purely cosmetic. Not that big a deal. However, I really don't like it when a company throws their customers to the scalpers on a significant upgrade. I was hoping to get one before Christmas, but I'm really reconsidering how badly I want to continue doing business with a company that prides itself on "Made in the USA" on one hand then throws their customers to the tender mercies of flippers and speculators on the other.
