sir rod , I used to have a shop like that here. they spent a lot of time getting my wife and I started right. two young brothers who had quite the following. we would go there just to say hi and hang out for a few minutes.our kids
are older than them but we always felt welcome. they saw the writing on the wall when sac went from four shops to twenty and sold their shop. oh yes they did.
had to throw a little rodese in there.

I'm honored you used my tag line!

On the shop being sold. Tampa is one of the five friendliest vape cities in America, so there are lot's of vape shops, but the guys who own 'my' vape shop, have no intentions of selling or going out of business. They've built quite a great business and they've done it by being honest and selling great stuff. I buy all of my juice from them, which they make in their own lab and to me, their flavors taste great. I'd be very sad indeed if they sold or closed. Yes I would.

How about we have our Monday update tonight instead?...Monday is looking to be a busy day, so I might not be able to join the ECF until later in the day...

Radius bottom plate:

As part of our continuous improvement plan we have modified the current return flow path design in the Radius. As the power output has gone up and higher currents are needed, a more direct connection was required. The use of an end plate and contact that provides a better high current path to the battery is the reason for this setup and it looks pretty cool too :)

With this new design, the high current does not flow through the spring but instead through a direct connection to the PCB. Testing shows this to be a significant improvement.

The Radius was designed to be a device you plug-in to USB charge on a daily basis but with a serviceable battery.

There are two thumb screws on the bottom. Simply press down on the bottom, rotate the screws, remove the bottom plate and the battery will slide out. Slide in a new battery, rotate the screws snug and you are done. This whole process takes less than 40 seconds.

I know some of you have had a bad experience with poor quality charging systems and this has caused concern over using built-in chargers. We have also heard stories of some manufacturer’s telling people to only use the USB port for emergencies and not daily use.

The Radius has an excellent built-in charging system with thermal monitoring.

The bottom section of the Radius is a hybrid connection between a captive battery with a solid connection to the battery, but you can also replace the battery easily when it’s end of life. With a captive battery, you have to send the device back to the factory to have a new battery welded or it’s a throw away device once the battery is no longer accepting a charge. We wanted to allow the user to replace the battery without tools or the need to send the device in for service but with a solid and reliable connection.

I am sure the build quality will be typical of past Provape devices and the USB port will be durable. But I have been burned so many times in the past with janky USB ports that I am really gun shy about using them on a daily basis. Unless there was a minimum of a 3 year warranty on the USB port I would not use it on a daily basis. That is why for me the ability to change the battery easily while out and about without reaching for some sort of tool is a necessity.

Now when you say press down on the bottom you mean towards the body??? And in the two screws is that the two cog-like pieces in the middle???

Sorry to drop in without reading all 221 pages. I noticed the Radius will have a robust USB charging system, but will it also be bi-directional...allowing for PCB updates without having to send to Provape for $20-$25 each time??

Yes, the USB port is for charging and software updates. Now, get busy and read all 221 pages! ;)

Looks like a winner! Might preorder tomorrow. I don't need another mod (who does really?) but the wife lost hers while we were on vacation this weekend so I'll consider that a pass :thumb:

Better order two. When your wife get's this in her hands, you'll never get to touch it again. EVER!

@Vape360 ... just a reminder, some of us will need a Mac version of the update software.

please don't forget us

Until they get a Mac version out, just pop on over to Tampa when you're down for your annual escape the cold and snow trip this winter and if there's an update available, I'll do it for what will surely be a dozen by then for 'ya! Yes I will!

Cool beans, The dealer that did the upgrade on my P3 is getting some Radii in, said he's going to get about five of them. He stocks all authentic stuff, and is a huge Provape fan. Guess I'll be taking the 1-1/2 hour drive over there in a week or so :)
