Hi all, have been reading through this thread for days now to get caught up lol (the hamster would be right at home in my mini zoo

)
Waiting for some real world testing info to come in. The Radius, assuming the real world info is acceptable, will be my first Provari around Christmas time as dad's share of the pie

(dang kids get the lion's share hehe)
I've admired the, um, enthusiasm of the Provari fans as well as the company's ethos and build quality but never gave their pre-Radius products much thought because 1) all tube
mods all the time and 2) the 20W cap. But, the Radius looks like it might be the ProVape product to win me over:
- Love the style of the device, right up my alley, although I hope they introduce a nice deep forest green (or even a nice olive green) by Christmas, otherwise basic black it will be
- Love the idea of engineering it to give captive battery performance with a user swappable 18650 (more on this in bit)
- Love the boost technology to "overdrive" the coil to get it up to temp faster so you can get the same subjective hit at lower wattage on the Provari compared to most mods
- Love the reputation for true, consistent power delivery (vaping on an iPV D2 as my daily mod and there is a noticeable difference right after I swap batteries demonstrating no matter what that screen says, there is a drop off in power over the battery life)
- Love the general commitment to engineering and build quality
- Love the full domestic sourcing and manufacturing. Don't have anything against foreign goods per se, but one ball the US most definitely dropped was sacrificing our manufacturing sector for higher corporate profits in far too many consumer segments. Supporting a company like this is a good thing. Even the domestic engineered atomizers are almost all produced overseas (what I like to think of as the Apple sleight of hand)
For me, the biggest unknown factor influencing a final decision is the battery life. The "captive battery" performance is a big part of looking at the Radius. I like the size of the smaller single 18650 mods, but the power wasting from their battery boxes leaves a lot to be desired. I'm strictly a rebuildable guy, and run my single coil builds around 15W-20W, and my dual coil builds around 25W-30W. Running a single coil atomizer I will swap batteries twice a day with my D2, and three times a day with dual coils (using Samsung 30Q btw). I usually run dual coils nowadays.
I'm familiar with the benefits of the captive systems because my first mod was an iStick 50W (has a 4400 mAh internal) that I easily made it through the day with no need to charge and was shocked when I moved to the iPV D2 and was using up ~7.5K mAh worth of battery in the same time I would drain the iStick no more than 70%. When I heard the schpiel about why they have the endcap and battery swapping mechanism they have on the Plumes of Hazard, I was interested and impressed enough to let my inner vape demon start rubbing his hands together

. However, regardless of how they intend the device to work, I would only ever use the USB charging overnight. I dislike my vape being tethered to something so much that in spite of my iStick 50W never giving me a lick of trouble, I wound up switching over to the D2 100% of the time -> the iStick was pre-dual coil building, and one of the reasons to get the D2 was to be able to run higher wattages with no charging while I was awake. It's an unnecessary quirk, but it's my unnecessary quirk and it's not going to change for the Radius or any other PV.
So, looking forward to hearing from people running wattages similar to mine and how it performs. I don't care if I have to swap batteries, but if it's not going to be an improvement (e.g. only needing to swap out once during the day instead of 2X-3X), the purchase becomes harder to justify while I still have a perfectly functional pair of mods that meet my needs.
