I didn't get into the USB debate because they make water resistant and even waterproof USB ports. Seeing that the technology has been out since before the first smartphone, I just have to trust that ProVape would pick one of the best out there to use.
As for a hole in the side of a mod, I would Not use a mod that Didn't have a hole in the side or at least some way to let it vent if the battery vents. :)

A hole on the bottom won't let water in when out and about in the rain or snow, unless I'm holding it inverted. One on the side will during normal operation. All the waterproof USB ports have attached rubber covers, like the waterproof Sony Xperia phone I got Sandra in July, which she dropped in the tub, but survived...

USB mods have been out for years, yet I've never heard the issue even mentioned until these past couple of days. Some high end stuff too.

Curious, me.

The new iphone has no rubber cover and has survived submersion, drying and the ports still work... They could be doing something like that. As fir the long term corrosion question, i dunno, though since its repelling liquid i would lean towards it not being an issue.

I am also hoping that it ends up your fingers end up covering it while holding anyways.

I do wish usb had been reversible since day 1, the lightning connector does not seem to stand up to living in a car well at all... But not having to look at the darn port when i plug in is a little nicety...

I like my game better.

nCfc1pW.gif

Um, er, uh.......this game still gives me nightmares. Yes it does! LOL

I think I will go find a thread on ECF on a mod that I have no intention on ever buying one. Then I will post all my reasons for not buying one, and bash that mod to justify my reasons. :?: But I'm not going to stop there, I will hang out in that thread for days, maybe weeks, to start arguments and upset people in a way that would make any Internet troll proud. :thumb:
OH wait, I can't do that :(
Because I have a life...

This is THE Post Of The Day! Yes it is!!

You should throw it away, it obviously is outdated.

LMAO, there have been times I would throw it.

Pure auto correct paragraph ensues..

The Lightning Port was designed to be waterproof...

I'm still sticking with Cabernet Red. What I have to decide is do I buy it from my local dealer, or place the order with Provape. I like to give my Vape Shop business whenever possible. I owe a lot to them and they're great people all the way around. I'll call them tomorrow and see how they're going to handle sales, then make my decision.

I don't know where you got that, because it most definitely was not. In fact, there's a sensor on the Lightning port on all iPhones that changes color if submerged, so Apple will know if the phone isn't working because it was submerged and if it was, isn't eligible for warranty replacement.

Not on iPhones with Lightning Ports...

How many links would you like me to post stating this?

Lightning Connector Is Waterproof, But Accessory Makers ...

Apple and MFi makers: Lightning is waterproof, ethical ...

Lightning Connector is Waterproof, Manufacturers Must ...

The indicator is internal now for prolonged submersions...

Unlike it’s predecessors the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus only have 1 internal water damage indicator/sensor. This sticker is on the logic board, at the top in the middle; right below the front display/screen.

That's too bad. I find it's a humorous way to work out aggressive frustration. There's no blood and the goat and people come back to life immediately.

I would do the opposite. I would wait to see the red in person or at least read reviews by people who got them. Black is black, but (as I hate to admit) whomever takes the studio pictures of ProVape products has a history of getting some of the colors a bit off.

ETA: I forgot who it was that got one of the original purples based on photographs, then when it arrived had a heck of time trying to find other gear that matched.

I believe it's really somewhere in-bewteen the two above.

There was a court ruling against Apple - they cannot use the water sensor against a customer claiming warranty repairs. I forget the specific details of the ruling, but if you're curious, I'm sure google knows.

Sigh.....not one of the links you posted is FROM Apple........It may not be easy to get water in a Lightning port, but it is not waterproof.

Not many here know I'm level 6 on Apple's hosted Discussions forum (to get that level, I've been awarded points from users for solving their iPhone/iPad problems to the tune of like 12,000 points now). Daily someone comes in because they got liquid in their lightning port, the phone no longer works and they're furious because Apple won't replace it under warranty. This is day in day out.
