Well taking it outside, in your car, etc...you want to protect it. In house I would never use the sleeve.

If someone is rough on stuff, I can see the sleeve. I'm beyond careful with my things. I have a stand in my car, on my desk at work and one at home. My Radius will look brand new two years after her first button push.

If you RTFM as they say, anything 0.5 ohms or above can be used at 40W.
0.4 ohms, 36W maximum, etc.
