I own Snap-On and Mac tools... I worked hard to own them and they have lasted my lifetime so far. My main toolbox was purchased new in 1980.
I own a power drill that I purchased in 1979, and the brushes have been replaced 3 times. Quality will last a lifetime.
When I was a teenager I went with my dad and mom to Sears and he was buying a Craftsman Table Saw. I remember my mom complaining that it cost a lot more than some other one he was considering... I vividly remember him saying... "If I don't have the money to do it right, how will I come up with the money to do it again when the wrong one fails"...That was about 1970... and I now have that table saw, and it still works like a charm.
I have never regretted spending more for higher quality. In the long run it costs less.
I can also understand that not everybody can afford to
buy the highest quality goods, there's no shame in that... there IS shame, however, in lying to yourself into believing the second rate products are just as good, or even better than quality goods. That's just lying to yourself to feel better about not being able to afford better quality.
