I've not found anyway to take apart a Volt battery without destroying it because the threaded end is both press-fit and glued into place and that's the end that all the guts slide out of as one unit. So, if one of the wires broke inside at the threaded end, you cannot get to it. Or if one of the wires at the little chip end broke off, there's no way to pull it out far enough to solder it back on either.

Here's how the connections go inside of the battery. The "End Chip" as you call it, has both the tiny airflow-activated switch and has the LED on its little circuit board. When you suck in, the air passes through a tiny hole on this circuit board, activating the switch, and that switch turns on its LED and also completes the circuit to the positive center post way up at the threaded connector where the cartomizer screws on (+Threads). The negative side of the battery is soldered to the outside negative part of the threaded connector (-Threads). Here's my best crude attempt to give you a visual:

End chip <----------+ BATTERY- -------> -Threads, outside part of connector
|LED
V
----------------------------------------> +Threads, center post of connector

-------AIR FLOW -----------------------------------------------> CARTOMIZER -------> Vapor

My conclusion: The Arduino-powered microcontroller sensor array I just soldered together and deployed is easier to build and repair than a Volt battery.
Also, where can one find a good dual-voltage (120v-240v) soldering iron? All the good ones I've seen are around $100 and either 120v or 220v/240v but not both. To swap them over you have to change out the internal transformer which requires...a soldering iron. So I would need a soldering iron for my soldering iron. Sigh.

i'm lost as to what most of this means.....but it made me giggle!!!

and cat vs. printer is possibly the funniest thing I've seen on the interweb. another good one is surprised panda, I don't have a link, but search it . hi-laaa-rius.

Sorry for asking a question that has probably been asked and talked about many times. I tried searching the forums using keywords like "Smokeless Image" & "Compatibility", but it returns too many irrelevant post. Maybe someone could explain to me how to search for this answer correctly in the furture.

I'm new to vaping. I just gor my starter kit from Smokeless Image. A auto-sealed battery, and also a regular auto battery (meant to order a manual, but clicked on the wrong option). What type of e-cig are these Volt model ecigs? I keep reading about the differant styles and models, like 510 models and such. Are these 510, or something else completely? I'm getting ready to order some juice and blank cartos from Smokeless Image again, but I'm also going to order some juice from a differant vendor beacuse of a good christmas sale going on. I was also thinking of grabing some empty cartos from this other vendor with the order, just to take advantage of the sale. I didn't know what kind of unit these "Volt" batteries are from SI, and don't know if If I'm going to order the wrong thing.

Sorry for asking a dumb question that has probably been covered a million times already. I tried to search the forums for the answer (I swear), but I'm apperntly too stupid to work the search tool. Unfourtanyley I found this forum after I bought my 1st ecig. I can be a little bit of of impulse buyer sometimes. However, I am still extremely happy with my descicion on my 1st ecig. I beleieve I got a good deal, and had a good expierence with my 1st order with SI. Shipping was quick. Got my order in 2-3 days. Honestly I don't understand why anyone would pay extra for the "Express Shipping" option. I paid $3.01 for the standard shipping, and got my order in just a few days.

You guys are quick on getting the orders out! Keep up the good work

Welcome KindHead.

Volt batteries are KR808D-1 threading. 510 cartos would not be compatible.

Thanks for clarifying this for me. I was thinking about ordering some juice from the vapor room, becuase they have xmas sale, were the are giving out a free 30ml bottle with 1st time orders, and also a free 3ml bottle. Figured it be worth buying one 15ml, to get the free 30ml & 3ml bottle while the sale was going on. But it doesn't look like they carry the KR808D cartos. I am planning on ordering some juice from SI anyway, so I guess I'll just grab some fresh cartos from there.

So I'm looking at these cartos from healthcabin.net. They say 808 and not 808D. Are the 808 & 808D compatible parts? I thought I read somewhere that the horizontal coil cartos were better, because they didn't singe/burn as easily? I'm still trying to consume all this info. I should have research all of this before buying my first PV. In the mean time, I'm going to go head and grab some blanks with my juice order from SI.

Hi, and welcome to the thread. You made a good choice on your first pv. I started out with a different product, then bought another and finally found the Volt on my third try. It's a very satisfying pv and SI has excellent customer service. They also have frequent sales! I usually try to stock up on cartos during a sale, and their cartos also have a lower price when you buy in quantity. So I haven't even checked out anyone else's cartos, and can't offer any advice on them. The SI cartos have what is called a horizontal coil, which keeps the filler from burning as easily as the ones with the vertical coil.

You should probably get at least one manual battery. Although I prefer the autos, if I accidentally overfill a carto I use a manual for a short time till I'm sure it won't leak juice into an auto. I also use the manual when I'm testing juices with an atomizer.

The folks here will be glad to answer any questions you have. Doing research on the entire ECF forum is a good idea too. As you use your new pv you'll begin to get an idea of what you need to have on hand and what quantities. There is a learning process when you first begin: some of it you figure out as you go along and some you can find out by asking questions. Good luck to you! :)

It is all quite confusing, so don't feel bad. Smokeless Image Volt's use KR808-D1 horizontal coil cartos that are manufactured to their specs. Those that you linked to would be a great choice, but I'm not sure that they would measure up to the performance of Volt cartos. Any horizontal coil 808, KR808, or KR808-D1 would fall into this category as long as it isn't high voltage. NOT KR808-D2 (that's different).

Those should work. Wow, what a price. Make sure you get the 2.6 ohm and not the 2.0. They'd chew your batteries up and spit them out.

when you spend points and use a discount code at the same time i believe you do not earn points.
I had a problem recently with points being deducted but no reduction in final price. The CSR at SI fixed this and redeposited my "spent" points. But then I was not awarded points for what I spent and was advised that, because I used a discount code, that points would not be awarded. Is that correct?

we will work on something like this :)

Is there a Blog with all the tips of the trade? For instance, which tanks, cartos, etc work on the Volt. How to clean the Volt battery. How to do everything, from Bling to meter reading.

(there's a lot of tips in this thread, but when it's my turn to use that tip, I can't find it lol).

Did you look closely at the picture? They have the old flat plastic end caps, so are probably the old-style cartos. That might explain the very low price. Yeah they'd work, but wouldn't be as good.
