I don't want to make light of those that have real, legitimate addictions that require treatment, counseling and support. But this "vaping addiction treatment" advert just smacks of trying to "create a market" based on fear and misinformation, catering to the susceptible and gullible. And the sad thing is, some people are going to fall for it. :(

The actual problem is that something like this *actually does* make light of authentic, life-threatening addictions.

I wonder if I sign up to get this vape monkey off my back, will they let me play Fallout 14 hours of the day? :D
The big question: after they get the Vape Monkey off your back, will they insist on working on your caffeine problem?

(reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode, I think it was...)

I'm tempted to call them, and see the prices of this humbug. Then if they ask me if I am ready for the treatment, I will say that I can't afford it because I just found the DNA 200 Rouleaux for $140 online. :D:D:D

I understand addiction is a serious issue, I only have an issue with 12 step AA programs because they are often mandated by US courts, and half of the steps have to do with a God.

12 step programs actually do work, but they require one to actually *want* to be there, or at least recognize the need to be there and willing attendance -- those who go because a court makes them, usually get their sheet signed and run out the door to get a drink, and once their 30 or 90 day mandatory attendance is completed, they are never seen again -- unless they eventually wake up and realize they NEED to be there.

However there's something that's often noted at those meetings: AA can really ruin your drinking. :D I think that's probably why courts send people there, just on the off chance that they'll hear something that will stick with them, and ruin their drinking -- or give them an idea of where to go if and when they ever decide to do something about their drinking of their own volition.

But AA makes no claims about any particular god; it only says "A god of our understanding," or more usually, a "higher power." That higher power can be anything, it doesn't have to be a god. Just something bigger and stronger than our own flimsy willpower.

I've graduated from a few 'jitter joints' in my lifetime, they can be very fulfilling.
I see there is one center listed in Biloxi which is my winter getaway for a few months every winter. I should see if it's covered under insurance. It could save me some money as the Canadian dollar is so low, the exchange is a real killer.

Not long ago I was a smoker, minding my own business, getting along. Then one of my coworkers showed up at work with a vape and flaunted it in front of us. I was curious, asked him about it. He got me one, got me started. It was all soooo innocent at first.

From the first puff I became a lost soul. I quickly lost interest in my beloved cigarettes. After some weeks cigarettes smelled and tasted disgusting. I began to panic. If this trend continued soon I wouldn't be able to smoke any more. I was trapped, helpless, dooooooommmmmmed.

Please, oh please! HELP ME! Set me free of this cursed vape so I can return to my beloved cigarettes! HELLLLLLP MMMMMMEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

PS You'll be reassured to know the CDC has a video to warn people about the dangers. It's called Vaper Madness.

I seem to recall going to the midnight showing of {That Other Substance} Madness and how smokey the theater was, and the nice ah... aroma wafting around. So I can visualize a theater full of vapers, vaping away (surely illegally in many places). And etc. Ah... the Good Ole Days :)

We have that particular movie on videotape. First time I saw it, I laughed my .... off. As if anyone using that substance could be motivated to commit axe murders! They can barely motivate off the cough for the other bag of chips.

I believe it was afficionados of that substance who invented remotes -- no need to get off the couch to change the channel. :D

And now all are addicted to remotes. If the remote quits the TV is useless, have to get another one.
Is there a treatment program for remote addiction?
Or is it just considered an essential of life now?
